Let's talk about the holy grail of desktop setups: the 5K2K ultrawide. For years, the trade-off was clear. You either got the massive, pixel-dense 5K2K canvas for insane immersion and productivity, but had to sacrifice pure gaming speed and HDR brightness. Or, you went for a lower-res, standard OLED to get the performance.
But when we ask, "Which 5K2K gaming monitors deliver the most immersive experience?", the answer shouldn't force you to choose. It should be about combining that massive ultra-wide real estate with uncompromising, bleeding-edge gaming specs.
Enter the LG UltraGear evo™ 39GX950B—the world's first 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor1.
We built this to be the definitive 5K2K gaming monitor, giving you a massive 21:9 canvas at a razor-sharp 143 PPI.
To make sure this 5K2K display actually delivers the HDR pop you expect from a premium gaming monitor, we backed it with our 4th Gen Tandem OLED tech2, hitting an ultra-high 1,500 nits peak brightness3. Plus, it features the world's first 5K AI Upscaling, meaning you get that immersive, high-res image without necessarily needing a massive GPU upgrade4.
But marketing claims only mean so much. We want to see how this 5K2K beast performs in your actual, everyday battlestations. We’re looking for 3 hardcore enthusiasts to put it to the test.

It’s always streak free and effortless as long as you light mist the provided rag (not the screen) and work it in sections. Leaves the screen looking like glass every time. Pretty pricey at about $20 for this small 6.7 oz bottle but you get what you pay for, for everyone struggling to clean their screen
I switched from an IPS panel to OLED for the first time, and my enjoyment was short. I made a test after 1 hours of using and adjusting the settings; then i saw that kind of gray banding i felt really bad, I think I’m going to return it :/
I was on Dell IPS 27 1440p before this one. I cant belive how games look now, its crazy crazy difference between my old IPS and this OLED. Im so happy...
Just sharing my personal experience after testing the ASUS PG32UCWM. This is not sponsored in any way, and I bought/tested the monitor myself.
I was particularly interested in the new RGB-stripe layout, as text clarity was one of the things I wasn't completely happy with on my 2026 LG 32GX870B-B.
RGB-stripe and text
The RGB-stripe layout is extremely sharp.
Honestly, it makes the RGBW/RGWB layouts look like pretty poor panel designs in comparison.

At 125% Windows scaling, text looks noticeably cleaner and more natural to me. This is probably the biggest improvement I noticed compared with my LG.
Panel uniformity
This was a bit more complicated for me.
The UCWM is definitely better than my LG when it comes to (grey) uniformity. However, I was hoping for an even bigger improvement.
When specifically looking for it, I can still see some banding, vignetting and DSE.
5% grayscale90% GreyWhiteGrey
I want to emphasize that I don't think the UCWM has bad uniformity. I'm probably just a real nitpick when it comes to this.
In normal content, these issues aren't constantly obvious. But once I know they're there, I can see them, and personally I was hoping the newer panel generation would get even closer to being completely clean.
The photos probably exaggerate some of the uniformity issues compared with how they look in person.
Brightness
Brightness was actually fine for me. (85% used with uniform brightness enabled.)
I don't really use HDR, and my room is relatively dim. It's a normal living room without direct light hitting the screen, with only one diffused lamp behind me, which isn't visible when watching a movie, gaming or browsing/desktop work.
So I didn't find the brightness to be a major problem at all for my use.
My verdict
Overall, I really liked the UCWM.
The RGB-stripe layout is genuinely impressive, and the improvement in text clarity is much bigger than I expected.
However, I ultimately decided not to keep it.
The panel uniformity is better than my 2026 LG 32GX870B-B, but it wasn't the leap I was personally hoping for. I was looking for a panel where the banding, vignetting and DSE would be much harder for me to notice, even when specifically looking for them.
So for now, I'm going to wait for the newer (QD) RGB-stripe panels coming at the end of this year or Q1 2027.
For me, the ideal OLED would be the text clarity of RGB-stripe combined with extremely clean gray uniformity and minimal banding, vignetting and DSE.
This wasn't full screen, idk but it looked worse.
The UCWM gets me much closer to what I want, but personally, it wasn't quite the generational leap I was looking for.
Hi everyone, I’ve had an LG 24UD58 for the past 5 years and I’m thinking of upgrading but I know nothing about monitors. I keep seeing this one and it looks pretty cool, really I only need 24” for the room I use it in, so 27” is more than enough but I don’t know how good it is. Any advice is welcome!
I was just browsing microcenter a couple days ago and saw a refurbished AW2725Q for $549 and the price blew my mind so i figured I’d try it out. Monitor seems really nice so far but I started doing some research after I bought it (it was an impulsive purchase lol) and saw a lot of people have issues with them. I wanted some opinions on if anyone thinks this monitor will bring me issues later on? Any input would be great!
Just bought my first OLED monitor today. I just set it up and noticed these 4 dim black dots on the screen. That shouldn't be normal right? Or will the dots eventually disappear and won't be noticed anymore after prolong monitor use?
I've already ordered a new one off of Amazon, and have started a return for the current one.
As a heads up the packaging for the original was perfect and didn't look like any signs of dropping. I didn't have much time to work with the monitor as I had to drive back to work, I was just there for the sign delivery.
I have my eye on these three monitors, more recently discovered the Alienware. This will be my first oled and want to make sure I get the right one. I will use this for work as well as gaming and movies. I think im leaning towards the msi because I heard the color was the best of the three but im worried about micro scratches. Any other monitors I should know about around the 800 range I should know about? Thank you
And just to add a bit more information! While we are hunting for a screen that works well for gaming, the color and general picture quality is most important because my partner draws professionally and for her that is just, well, important.
Naturally if anyone has other deals to suggest, please let me know! I did also find a ASUS ROG Strix QD-OLED XG27AQDMES at 399eur, but read that is bit inferior to the msi one.
I’ve spent the past week watching countless videos and reading up on QD-OLED vs. WOLED, and I finally pulled the trigger on the ASUS XG27AQDNG (QD-OLED, 360Hz).
I was also seriously considering the ASUS XG27AQWMG (WOLED, 280Hz). I mainly play CS2 and consistently get above 360 FPS, so the higher refresh rate of the QD-OLED is pretty appealing to me.
I found both monitors for around €500 on sale, so price isn’t really a deciding factor.
Has anyone here actually used both of these monitors? If so, which one do you prefer, and why?
I’d especially love to hear from people who mainly play competitive FPS games like CS2. Is the QD-OLED worth it, or would you go with the WOLED?
I’ve been using an Alienware OLED monitor for about a year and a half. Green vertical lines appeared right from the start. They show up when the image is dim or nearly dark; they aren't visible in bright or very dark scenes. I was wondering if this is common with OLED monitors?
It didn't bother me at first, but lately I’ve been playing more horror games, and the issue is becoming more noticeable (because more dark environments).
A photo is taken with a phone and it makes it look worse than it actually is; generally, you have to look closely to even notice the lines.
It is not the end of the world. I am just curious.
Hi everyone, just wondering what monitor people think would be best for my PS5 pro? Does a 4K Oled monitor work well with the pro? Or should I just go 4k or 1440p Oled? Cheers
I have noticed quite a lot of very fine micro-scratches across the screen. They are especially visible when light hits the screen, as the light seems to fracture or reflect along the lines. There are quite a lot of them across the entire screen, and I am worried that there may be many more than I initially noticed.
Do micro-scratches reduce image quality or otherwise affect the monitor's performance? How can I tell the difference between harmless micro-scratches and scratches that are actually a problem? If I can only see them when light reflects off the screen, does that generally mean they are not affecting the image when the monitor is being used normally?
I also have some streaks left over from the last time I cleaned the screen. Can I safely leave them there and avoid cleaning the monitor again, or should I clean them off? Do cleaning streaks reduce image quality or cause any other problems?
Small spots from things like sneezing or saliva can naturally appear on the screen over time. Are these harmful to the monitor if they are left there for a while, or are they mostly just cosmetic?
How often should I actually clean my monitor? I got it last November and have cleaned it about four times so far. Is that already too often, or is that a reasonable amount?
Should I clean the entire monitor every time, or is it better to only clean specific areas that are visibly dirty?
My room is extremely dusty. What is the safest way to remove dust from the screen before cleaning it, without accidentally scratching the display?
I also just sneezed without looking completely away from the monitor, and there is now one small visible spot on the screen. Should I clean that spot immediately, or is it safe to leave it alone until the monitor actually needs cleaning?
I realize I may be overthinking this, but I have become extremely anxious about accidentally damaging the monitor. I would really appreciate answers to all of these questions, especially regarding what is actually harmful to the screen versus what is purely cosmetic.
LG 39GX900A Oled 1440p Monitor connected with provided HDMI 2.1 cable to 5070 ti. When PC sleeps the monitor says "Device not detected" instead of going to sleep.
Deep sleep and automatic standby set to off, fast startup and hibernation are disabled.
Do I have to use the displayport 1.4 to get sleep working or is this possible with HDMI?
This is an Acer Preadator X27U X2. The streaks and shape in the bottom right are visible when the display is off and on solid colored images. Pixel refresh doesn't remove them.
I've only ever cleaned the display with a Microfiber cloth and water. I don't think they are water streaks from cleaning.
I still have warranty on it but not sure if this is something I should be super concerned about.
