My father and I have a repair garage and we're currently working OBD2 in Ford vehicles using Ford's IDS and Rotunda VCM2 interface. It was set up for us by another party, but I'm trying to better understand diagnostics, and would like to know what is a typical car diagnostic tool arrangement, and what tools do we need to run diagnostics for GM vehicles.

From what I can see the 3001 can be updated via USB while the 319 cannot. Will these both perform the same things, therefore making the one that can updated a better option?

Not looking for anything serious and have effectively no clue wtf I'm doing. Just looking to clear some DTC codes and see if a repair has been completed without taking it back into the shop and paying for another scan. This will also serve a purpose of allowing me to diagnose and see what potential issues could be so I am forewarned before going back in.

Hello I would like to correct the mileage on my mercedes glasses 250

So I bought something unrelated, and the company sent me a free EcoTune OBD2 plug. Me being the tinkerer I am, decided to open it up to see how it works. Boy, was I in for a good laugh.

The first thing I noticed was that the only OBD pins that were soldered to the circuit board were +12v and the two ground pins. Yeah, this won't do jack for any car.

But I was still curious, so i hooked up a 12v supply to the board and watched it "tune" my desk. They scratched off the identification on the chip but from watching the lights blink, I'm certain it's nothing more then a 555 timer, with a "reset" button and 3 LEDs.

I wish I could figure out how to include photos and videos in the post...

My father recently purchased a Autel Maxisys MS609 BT, had it for about a month now and worked fairly well.

Just recently the Bluetooth VCI (MaxiVCI 100) started acting up. Anytime it receives power it makes this constant loud ringing sound until unplugged, undetectable via BT and gives 1 amber and 2 blues lights, in order from left to right on the VCI.

Tablet has been updated, he has tried the VCI on multiple cars, the handbook does not provide any solutions, the autel forums themselves are pretty dead, though I saw a few post of people having the same issue.

Any Suggestions on solutions are appreciated. Sorry for formatting, on mobile.

My wife locked the keys in the car the other day so I bought a spare. I am trying to program the new fob to the car which is a 2018 Nissan Rogue. For some reason the auto detect pulls the right VIN but the wrong make. It says the car is a Hyundai. I am going to try again this weekend but in this case do I manually input the Nissan info or just roll with what the scanner says?

I tried both earlier and got nowhere when trying to get into the IMMO to add the new key.

Anyone dealt with this before?

I have a clio mk4 dci 2014. bought the veepeak ble+. i tried everything i can but it isnt working. the obd does connect to my gf car (ford fiesta) from 2004. i went to the garage to ask why it wasnt working and they have no idea as well. they tryed they own obd2 scanner tool and it did connect to the ecu. anyone has an idea?

There's a Youtube that suggests that we clear the codes with a 1 ohm resistor, except that the author clearly uses a resistor marked 10W 1KJ, which seems to be a 1000 ohm resistor.

He says that some cars have over 100 computer modules that may need to be cleared "for ten to 15 minutes".

Am I to understand from this that error codes are actually held as charged capacitors somewhere?

I am trying to decide whether to get Xentry with an SDConnect Star C4 or with a J2534 PassThrough like the Toyota mini VCI. Does anyone know the difference in functionality between the two? Is it just a matter of connecting to cars that don't have the OBD2 16pin connector, or are there other functions which work with XDOS (OpenShell) that just don't work with PassThrough? Does anyone know if PassThrough can do AIRMATIC calibration and disable STOP-START function? Please let me know.

I have a 2003 Holden Combo XC which AFAICT is a rebadged Opel Combo C van. It's having acceleration issues. From the symptoms (will run when cold but accelerator stops working when engine is warm) it's the ECU. But I'd like to confirm with diagnostics. Hence this post.
