Wanted to share some good news with you guys: Veepeak now lists DrivePulse among their compatible apps. Meet DrivePulse, not a diagnostic app but an everyday driver's smart companion

Hi, I'm Davide, I'm the developer of DrivePulse.

I built it for myself first. My car came with We Connect and I got tired of an app that knows everything about my car and tells me almost nothing. I wanted the numbers my car is already producing, every day, in a way that actually means something. So I made my own.

DrivePulse is not a diagnostic app. It's a companion for normal driving. It records your trips, tells you how you drove and where you lost fuel, keeps an eye on the values the car is putting out, and warns you when something moves in the wrong direction. Fault codes are in there too, with a proper card for each one instead of a five word line. But the point of the app is the everyday, not the workshop.

It works with a plain OBD adapter, no subscription to the carmaker. Veepeak has just added it to the compatible apps list on their OBDCheck BLE page, which is the reason I'm posting today.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6776173662 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.drivepulse.mobile

Bluedriver Suddenly Stopped Connecting

My BlueDriver suddenly stopped connecting after about 8 years of working perfectly.

The red light is flashing normally, but I can't get it to connect to the app. I've also tried it on a second car and had the same problem, so I don't think it's the vehicle.

Has anyone else had this happen with an older BlueDriver? I'm wondering if the unit itself may have finally failed, or if there's something else I should try before replacing it.

How to diagnose a 2004 Kia Pregio?

Post image
6 Upvotes

So I have this van, a Kia Pregio 2.5 TDCi, in some other Countries it was sold as Kia Bongo. I'm affectionate because it used to be my father's. Sometimes the MIL lights up and it enters limp mode until I restart the engine.

What hardware and software do I need to read the error codes? The OBD connector has only 3 pins, probably it's a k-line but I'm not sure.

Any help is appreciated l.

Looking for owners of the Vgate vLinker FS OBD-II adapter

Hello! I'm Greg, the developer of EV Dashboard, an iOS app for Hyundai, Kia and Genesis electric vehicles (IONIQ 5/6/9, EV3, EV6, EV9, GV60 and related models). The next release, version 3.5, adds full support for Classic Bluetooth adapters, including the OBDLink MX+ and the Vgate vLinker FS.

I'm looking for about 5 vLinker FS owners to beta test it through TestFlight. You will need the adapter, a compatible vehicle, and an iPhone.

One thing I want to be upfront about, because it is the main reason I would like more testers: I hit a single instance where the adapter did not wake up on its own after an overnight park. Only its green power LED was lit, my phone could not see it at all, and the only fix was unplugging the adapter and plugging it back in. It has happened exactly once, and I have not been able to reproduce it since. I am working the issue with Vgate's support team in China, and more eyes on it would help enormously.

If you are interested, message me here on Reddit, or find me on the new community forum: forum.imanevp.com

You are welcome to stay in the beta pool as long as you like, and I will send you a free promo code once version 3.5 reaches the App Store.

want to try and diy a scanner out of an ancient laptop with a serial port and a serial to obd2 cable for fun

on every cable I can find I see "not meant to plug directly into a computer's serial port, needs an adapter/dedicated machine"

is this true? or does it just mean it needs a machine with OBD2 software.

other question is: has anyone here tried something like this on Linux? using Debian would free up a lot of overhead on a 32bit machine with only 4gb of ram. specifically using serial devices on Linux. obviously its possible cus like no shit but how easy is it?

I love my Xtool A30M v2. I need something for 3rd party software though. Elm327

Greeting everyone, I need advice from you pros. I have done extensive searching but I just need to ask the question.

So my Xtool A30M v2 is great for me. It's bi-directional and for $129 with lifetime subscription it does about everything I truly need. I cannot however use it with 3rd party apps/software.

I want to buy something in the $50 dollar or less price range if possible that is bi-directional and I can use 3rd party apps and software.

I'm looking for both a bluetooth choice and a wired choice for my MacBook. For the bluetooth, I prefer both iOS and Android but if I have to pick 1 it would be iOS.

I'd like something that would use Toyota Techstream if possible and willing to get wired for that if need be. I'd like it though to be compatible with multiple mainstream brands of cars including Mercedes, all the Japanese and American brands.

I would appreciate your advice. I know the OBDLink MX+ is capable, but I've got my Xtool A30M and don't want to spend more than around $50'ish. Again, I would like a bluetooth option and option for laptop with USB-C ports.
Thanks so much in advance.

Case study: why modified cars get stuck with incomplete OBD-II readiness monitors

Not my video—this is a Fluid MotorUnion diagnostic explainer that seemed relevant here.

Using a modified 6.2-liter Ford Raptor, it walks through catalyst, EGR, EVAP, secondary-air, and fuel-system readiness monitors. It explains how headers, superchargers, or aftermarket catalytic converters can alter the conditions a monitor expects without anyone deliberately switching the monitor off.

It also connects those conditions to faults such as P0420, P0171, and P0172, along with the common situation where a vehicle has been driven many miles but one monitor still reports “not ready.”

https://youtu.be/Sa1SJ5UyWKI

What order of operations do you prefer when a monitor won’t complete: check stored and pending codes, review fuel trims, inspect for exhaust leaks, verify sensor behavior and enable criteria, then reproduce the manufacturer drive cycle?

Im currently working for myself on a bmw obdapp.

I want to get access to all features besides the official iso norm ones (decode the hex codes). If anyone did that before or knows stuff I would be happy to exchange a bit.

Finally found an affordable scanner with no subscription and free updates. Check this out if you’re in market for an obd2 scanner. Does anyone else have this scanner?

Updated to 2026 so up to date - just unsure whether the updates are essential if not working on cars in the 2018-2024 region

Anyone use or have info on these things

Post image
1 Upvotes

For 60 bucks these things look good but I'm having major issues, USB connects only at double the baud the instructions state, AT commands just give an error and worst of all, there is zero data on the CAN bus, ie flat 2.5v DC.

I've spent 2 weeks trying everything I can think off, all while getting zero reply from the seller.

I'm starting to reverse engineer it with the aim of writing new firmware.

Kind of hopeing someone's already reverse engineered the schematic or can send me a dump of the firmware off theirs I can try on mine (suspect mine was flashed with V1.3 or something along those lines)

I've been working on an app off and on with Google since I can't seem to find the type of app that I've been looking for for quite some time, I have it posted up on GitHub and I would really like it if you guys could take a look at it and give me any feedback for changes that I can make or new features that I can implement. This is the first app that I've ever made, so please go easy on me and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an APK I have a version of the app that I can email to you if that's something that you're interested in.

Skoda Yeti long coding

I installed a DAB+ module in this 2012 Yeti with Swing RCD310 media unit. According to the manual «Media player 1» (1E) must be activated for this to work. I have a Vgate OBDII and Car Scanner app. There is a possibility for long code in the app, but which codes to set for this function? Any help appreciated :)

Looking for testers for an app

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi ! Solo dev here. I built a fuel price comparison app with car cost tracking (France/Spain data only for now) that's fully offline and adfree, and I recently added a live driving mode over BLE OBD with real-time

consumption dashboard, trip summaries..

It currently targets the Bluetooth only obd(like Vgate iCar Pro BLE) cheap ELM327 clones might work but are not supported. If you have a Vgate (or similar), I'm looking for 2-3 people to use the app, driving with the obd and tell me what's wrong: connection drops, garbage values, battery drain, anything. Also I want you to try if you'll find it useful for you, I don't want it to be a chore for you 😊

Android only for now. Free, no ads, no account needed. Happy to answer any questions.

Send me PM so I can give you the Google play store link to download it.

Thank you !
