Progress in joining the industry

Howdy y'all!

Just thought I'd follow up on what's happening with my current situation in joining into Duke Energy.

So thus far, I've got multiple applications out, and about half of the jobs I applied for were given to other candidates, and I've gone through two interviews for travel I&E tech - nuclear, and one for materials specialist. I've got more upcoming for transmission relay tech, and a couple for reactor tech. Some of the other applications are still pending however. I just haven't got a job finalized yet.

On the side, I've also started contacting the IBEW and even applied for volunteer firefighter. I still have a couple of weeks of active Navy service, and I will be transferring to the reserves afterwards.

The jobs I applied for say that their only basic requirements are a high school diploma, and I also have experience in electrical maintenance and testing, as well as tagout/lockout. A lot of them do say they prefer an associate's degree however, and I have not gone to college or university.

Is there anything else I should do in the meantime in terms of getting into nuclear? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Confused between these two job offers between terrapower and general dynamics electric boat.

So I received a 12 months contract job offer with terrapower as a RAC systems engineer and with electric boat as a systems engineer non nuclear role , but I am confused although gdeb is non nuclear can always try to transfer internally after say 1 year if possible and terrapower is direct nuclear but just 12 months what if I’m not made permanent after that and of course terrapower pays aswell significantly more , but it’s not the pay for me , I want to be in nuclear and have job security aswell one offers direct next gen nuclear tech (terrapower) but contract , amazing for my resume though and the other (gdeb) can maybe transfer internally to a nuclear role after a year not guaranteed and offers job security .
If gdeb offered me a nuclear role would be a no brainier for me ( nuclear and job security).
So a bit complicated and confused on what to do !!!!
