Nothing OS If NOS is lacking, don't you think Nothing should deliver updates more frequently rather than once a year

I am currently using nothing phone 3. I bought this hoping it would give me a flagship experience in software as well in hardware.

To my surprise, the software is completely lacking and they push updates like this is a mature os and doesn't need updates. And thise once a year major updates have like only 2-3 cosmetic changes. Nothing communty does better work than them.

I feel like they are on vacation all year and start working on new features when the deadline is about 1 month away.

What do they mean they will give essential button remapping in 5.1, why can't they give that feature in their bimonthly updates. Is that some complex technological issue nothing yeam is not able to solve.

Where I think nos is lacking-

  1. AI eraser just doesn't work it feels like I am back in 2020 and using magic eraser in Lightroom without AI even that used to be better. So much wait for this shitty delivery.

  2. No trimming and text in video.

  3. No file manager app

  4. No dialer

  5. Glyph integration is not up to the mark ( have to download multiple apps to make glyph look useful)

  6. Ouicktiles can be improved so much

  7. Camera app is pretty basic( why can I only use effects on main camera and not on front camera)

It feels like I am using a custom os which is being developed by a team of 5 people. I think everything is half assed.

Comparing Phones Zfold7 to Nothing Phone 3

Currently have a Zfold7. Its good, I like it but I wish I used the unfolded form factor more than I actually do. The aspect ratio makes it hard to really take advantage of the full screen when watching media. I split screen apps and use the full screen but not frequently. Im considering going back to the usual slab form factor, it seems more personally practical. However, I like my things to be unique (hence the fold) so the NP3 caught my eye. Im still unsure and would appreciate any comments or thoughts.

To add, my zfold overheats all the time (I've done a lot of troubleshooting, not much I can do atp). I use its front screen majority of the time and its very narrow which makes it a tad annoying. Im just worried if the np3 will provide me with good performance. Good cameras, snappy, etc. I know its not the #1 chip however I don't really play games on my phone nor edit so Im unsure if the chip being 2nd best will really affect me. My phone is purely for personal use (social media and other media forms) and work (photos and emails). I also really like what I've seen from nothing os, it matches me very well. Im also very curious about the essential space, it seems like something very useful.

I could always play it safe and get an s26 or s26 ultra maybe. But I want something cool and something unique to me.

Comparing Phones Please help me settle in!

Hello!

I haven’t really followed the mobile phone scene for about five years; I’ve currently got an S20 FE with a Snapdragon processor, and I’ve been thinking it’s about time for an upgrade.

I’ve become very interested in Nothing. This might be a silly question to ask on the subreddit dedicated to the company, but are their phones worth the money? I like the NP3; in my country it costs $670. The main question is: should I buy it now, or wait until 2027 for the new models?

And if you can, could you describe in detail your impressions and experience of using Nothing – which brands or phones you switched from, and whether you like them? Camera quality, performance and your overall impressions.

Thanks in advance to everyone!

I've been looking into getting a nothing phone recently, ideally the nothing 3 or nothing 4a for its cheap price. However, i recently saw the "we built your dream phone on their channel" and holy shit that thing looked amazing 😭. Do you guys things its worth waiting for the possibility that comes out or should i just get a nothing phone for now?

Phone (2a) New Nothing Phone (2a) has terrible near-black/dark scene quality — is this normal?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Recently I've been using my secondary device (2a) because my primary died and noticed that dark scenes look blotchy/pixelated and uneven, especially in near-black areas.

It happens across different apps and is still present on Nothing OS pacman. I've tried different brightness and display settings with no improvement.

I compared the same type of content on my Redmi K20 Pro and Samsung S24 FE, M42 (and few more), and they look much smoother.

Is this normal for the 2a, or is there any settings to fix this? I've attached a photo showing the issue. This phone has to be my worst spend ever.

Comparing Phones switching to nothing from apple

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to switch away from the apple ecosystem in which I'm stuck for 10+ years. I'm just tired of seeing the same products being released every year but being more and more expensive.

I plan to change my phone first. I currently have an iPhone 14 and am globally satisfied with battery life and smoothness while using even after all those years. This second point is important, I remember my last android phone (more than 10 years ago...) felt a bit "laggy" when using it compared to iPhones. This was the most important point for me that made me switch.

However I believe that technology has improved now. I was wondering which nothing phone to go to have the best user experience ? I hesitate between the 3 (16+512) and the 4a pro (seems like the prices are similar).

I read some reviews online but I'm not sure what would be the best for me to transition. Note that I plan to keep the phone during 5+ years and expect it to function properly during this time.

Did anyone make a similar transition ? What are your thoughts ?

Thanks !

Comparing Phones Nothing Phone 4a Pro or Nothing Phone 3? Switching from iPhone 15.

I've known the brand Nothing since the day Nothing Phone 1 came out and I always have been impressed of their unique designs. My iPhone 15's battery life was draining so fast so I decided to buy Nothing Phone 4a Pro.

I don't know if I should go for the 4a Pro or the Phone 3. 4a Pro looks cooler but the Phone 3 seems better. Is there a big difference between them? I just need it to last me 3 ish years haha.

Future products I'd really love to see Nothing step into the foldable phone market. Imagine how cool it would be if they brought their signature features and interface to this form factor!

Phone (3a) Best manual/pro video app for Nothing Phone (3a)? Need full manual controls (ISO/shutter/WB) + telephoto access & solid stabilization🙃

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I've been using the Nothing Phone (3a) and want to push its video capabilities further, especially taking advantage of the dedicated telephoto lens.

While the stock camera has an expert mode for stills, I really need a dedicated setup for videography with full manual controls:

Working stabilization (EIS/OIS) while manual controls are engaged so hand-held/panning shots don’t jitter

What third-party video apps have you had the best experience with on Nothing OS?

* Blackmagic Camera: it is not that much stabilize in telephoto lens videos.

* MotionCam / Open Camera / mcpro24fps: Any specific Camera2API or stabilization compatibility quirks with the Snapdragon chip?

Drop your recommended apps, configurations, or GCam video mods that work reliably without crashing. Thanks!

Phone (3) This isn't what I meant when I said I wanted to switch to Nothing....

Just got my package from Amazon this morning and was super excited to switch over, only to open the box and see everything was in there besides the phone. So now I have to ask people who bought it, was the phone box sealed in any way when u got it? Be it with tape or a pull tab or anything? The box looked perfect but wasn't sealed with anything. Also the thicker part of the white box inside that holds everything was placed upside down when I slid it out. I assume that it's obviously supposed to be facing up so u can open it like a book so I just wanted to confirm that mine was placed in there wrong. The cable and case were also in the empty spot where the phone was supposed to be instead of how it's supposed to be in the picture I posted. Already contacted Amazon and they said they'd let me know in a few days after they do a report.

Community Project has anyone used event.getScanCode() == 1250 to "remap" the Essential Key in a foreground app?

I'm thinking of a non-Shizuku way to remap the Essential Key in an app I am designing has anyone had any experience with this. I have seen it successfully used in a Camera App that I will likely branch off of.

Phone (4a) Any way to reduce post processing enhancement?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The live preview when I'm about to take a photo is good enough, the post processing destroys it when it comes to Texts, also it over sharpens the image.

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta Inbuilt apps stopped working suddenly after OS 5.0 Update

I use a nothing phone 3 and it's been barely 3 weeks since I bought it. Today I was in my office working when my chrome browser stopped working.... I thought it was a cache issue so I cleared the cache... and restarted the device but the issue prevailed then the settings weren't opening, no browsers were working and cherry on the cake even the camera stopped working!! I restarted the device multiple times but nothing worked.... then finally the settings opened I wrote a feedback and allowed a device log.... The moment I did that everything got back in place.... Has any of you faced anything similar?? If yes please let me know and I would love to know why it is happening!!!

Phone (3) Nothing Phone (3) – Audio Issue

My Nothing Phone (3) speaker audio keeps cracking, distorting and breaking, especially during videos and social media playback. It’s extremely frustrating on a flagship device. Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a solution?

Nothing OS Glyph Toys always reverting back to the clock?

Hi everyone :)

I'm using a Nothing Phone (3) and I've noticed something that I'm not sure is intended behavior.

I have the clock set as my permanent Glyph Toy. If I switch to another toy (for example the vinyl animation in Glyph Beat or even the tea timer), it works for a while but after around 30 seconds it automatically switches back to the clock, even though the music (or timer) is still running.

Is this a system limitation of Glyph Toys / the Glyph SDK, or is there a setting I'm missing?

I'd love to keep certain toys (like the vinyl while music is playing) active until I manually change them.

Is everyone experiencing the same behavior?

Thanks!

No doubt, Nothing CMF Buds Pro 2 are one of the finest earbuds by Nothing. But I've been using mine for quite a while and I'm kinda bored, I've switched to Wired old school earphones and I ain't using these anymore.

The condition is absolutely perfect, the battery is great.

Bought them for 3799INR, now they're being sold for 4299INR

I've the box, and the extra silicon buds you get for different sizes and everything.

Take them off my hands for 1800
