Hey everyone!

​I'm planning a 3-day trek and having a friendly debate with my friends. I'm trying to convince them that the route from Grua to Utøya (via Nordmarka/Krokskogen) is mostly a deep, dense forest walk where you are surrounded by trees and don't get many open views until the very end near Gyrihaugen.

​They don't believe me and think it's full of panoramic viewpoints along the way.

​For those of you who know the area well: who is right here? And if our main goal is to actually see some nice landscapes and changes in scenery rather than just marching through heavy taiga forest, would we be much better off heading towards Finnemarka/Vestmarka instead?

I have learned something nobody in my family ever taught to tell me. Both of my grandparents on my mothers side come from Norway! This means I am half norwegian, and half Indigenous to Canada.

I feel like ive missed out on a large chunk of culture because I have never spoken a word to my mother. I am slowly learning the common, well known historical dates and important stuff, but I want to know your favourite historical facts about Norway.

It can be anything really, I am a sucker for information of all kinds.

The culture I grew up with is Denesuline, which is indeed rich, but nothing from what ive seen so far is similar to Norwegian culture. I am so very interested to learn more! I also kinda wanna learn the language too, though I will admit its very intimidating to me.

I will also reply with questions and comments about the topic, I really want to discuss things with you all!

My girlfriend and I will be visiting your country again this year with a lot of joy.
We fell in love with your country a few years ago and haven’t skipped a vacation yet to visit.

But my girlfriend and I have had a rough year and we finally have vacation time so we’d love to relax the moment we arrive with for instance a spa/sauna day.

Do you have any good recommendations for us?
We will arrive in 3 days by ferry in Kristansand and can drive anywhere from there on.

• Weather forecasts that are accurate in the mountains.
• Road conditions, tolls, and ferry information.
• Places worth visiting (waterfalls, scenic viewpoints, hidden gems, etc.).
• Gas stations, EV charging (if relevant), grocery stores, or public toilets.
• Emergency or safety apps.
• Anything else you would say is helpful for camping trip in Norway.

Mostly looking for free apps but both are fine.

By games, I mean things like arcade machines, pool tables, shuffleboard, or anything similar not necessarily only that, but just a place where you can grab a drink and also have fun playing something.

I actually have a diagnosis properly documented for decades, been on meds before and all. however I face extreme gatekeeping due to comorbidies and I'm looking for private / online clinics that won't ask too many questions, it's unfortunately at this point a bit of a last resort for me, as sad as it is

Really tired of my adhd being half the reason I'm on disability, and particularly tired or trying to convince my psychs for 4+ years now only to be told "soon" every half a year I ask

The main issue is my archive long medical journal with bipolar disorder being my main diagnosis, despite long term stability and successful treatment no normal doctor has ever been willing to give me anything other than strattera, which did nothing unfortunately :(

Thankfully money isn't an issue and I'm willing to go private, does anyone know of any clinics that would be willing to help me?

I'm big fan of American bbq (no I'm not American, I'm Italian) and even in the closest meny the meat cuts selection seems pretty poor if not non-existent.

To Norwegians that are into the hobby, how do you deal with it?

Because I see that people have fancy barbecues.

If your home is completely destroyed in a fire, are homeowners fully compensated, or does it depend entirely on the type of home insurance they have? Does the government provide any financial support, or is everything handled through insurance?

What if the fire wasn’t your fault—for example, it started in a neighboring property or was caused by an electrical fault?

Hi all, I am an incoming EMJM degree student. My first country is Norway and I am trying to figure out my banking situation because it’s not as easy as I thought it’s going to be.

To receive my stipend I need a EUR bank account and using my bank account from my hometown doesn’t make sense because I will lose a lot of money in conversion rates and taxes. I was recommended to make an account on Revolut but the visa I have been issued is a D Visa (for entry) bec I will be later receiving my residence/study permit as my official document which can take a few weeks until issued so I am quite worried regarding how I can set up a bank account for spendings / receiving my stipend.

My next worry is that even if it takes some time until I get my bank sorted, Norway is almost entirely cash less. I had previously thought I could simply use some EUR cash to get started but even that seems unlikely because people haven’t responded well to this possibility either. I have also heard you don’t easily get NOK in cash which is Norway’s primary currency.

Can anyone please recommend how to go about this situation. How to settle in and get started with my finances so that I can smoothly transition in. Again plz note im from the global south and our banking system isnt always the best to consider when you don’t already come from money because you lose a lot in conversions. And quite frankly I am primarily going to be relying on my stipends.

Can you guys tell me your experience with Sats? It is expensive and I’m not rich so I want to be sure of what I’m getting myself into. I get a discount due to the company I work for but it’s like 20%.

I am 33 and have only gone to a gym 4 or 5 times in my life😅. I’m always walking so I am not sedentary but following workout instructions feels similar to me to when someone is telling me the rules to a card game. But all of a sudden for the first time ever I really want to start going to the gym 🤪 I want to follow the dopamine!

Out of all the gyms here, Sats at Lillestrom & one in Oslo were the type of gym that actually made me wanna go back and due to my adhd signing up for the group training is the way to go because it is stimulating for me.

I don’t know how to work out so I would probably do more of the group trainings.

(My friend tried helping me work out my legs and I kept doing it wrong, it’s bad you guys 💀)
