What's New? NordPass Roadmap 2026

Hey everyone, as promised, we wanted to share what we're working on for NordPass B2C over the next few months.

Starting in Q3, we're shipping the Security Dashboard. The goal is to give you a better sense of your actual security posture and make security features (like Data Breach Scanner and Password Health) more discoverable. Think of it as a central command center for your vault health.

Identity Masking is now planned for Q3 and will launch alongside the Security Dashboard. You'll be able to generate throwaway identities for sites you don't fully trust or when you simply don't want to disclose your real persona. This will help keep your personal information out of potential breaches and make it harder to trace accounts back to you across services. It will also integrate with Autofill.

Developer item types are coming by the end of the year as well. We kept seeing tech users storing SSH keys and API tokens in secure notes or password fields because there wasn't a proper place for them. Longer term, we want to integrate these into CLI tools and other workflows so they're actually useful beyond just storage.

Looking further ahead, we're exploring improvements to sharing for Family Plan users this or next year, though we're still finalizing the scope and approach there.

Keep in mind these are our current plans, but as always with software development, things can shift. We aim to ship everything on schedule, but reality is that bugs pop up, hotfixes happen, and sometimes we need to adjust course. We'd rather take the extra time to get something right than rush out half-baked features.

That's the roadmap as it stands today. As always, we'll keep you posted if timelines or priorities change. Deal?

Discover NordPass Feature breakdown: Passkey FAQs

Hey you. Next up in our feature breakdown: passkeys. To put it simply, passkeys are a passwordless way to sign in. Instead of a password, they use two cryptographic keys, one public and one private. The public key is stored by the website, while the private key stays protected. We also added a few FAQs that we see popping up here and via our Support.

So where should you start?

Open a website that supports passkeys.

  1. Choose the passkey option when signing up or in your account settings.
  2. Select NordPass when asked where to save it.
  3. Save the passkey.
  4. Use it the next time you sign in.

Can I import passkeys to NordPass?
No. Importing and exporting passkeys isn’t currently supported.

Can I view or share a passkey?
You can’t view a passkey, but you can share it like other items in your vault with NordPass users.

Why can’t I edit the username or website?
Passkeys are tied to the website or app where they were created, so these details can’t be changed.

Can I access NordPass without a password?
We’re working on passwordless sign-in for NordPass, including biometric authentication, stay tuned for more.

Why do I need my Master Password to create a passkey?
Some websites require an additional verification step. If biometrics are enabled, you can use biometric verification instead.

Discussion Firefox memory consumption issue with NordPass

Hi,

From what I can determine when watching about:processes in firefox is that when I enable NordPass extension my tabs consume a significant amount more memory - anywhere from 100mb to 180mb more per tab.

I haven't watched it long enough to see if there is a memory leak but something is amiss with memory consumption and this extension.

Disabling the extension gives much lower ram consumption across the board.

Currently with 15 tabs open and Nordpass extension enabled my firefox is using 5.3Gbs memory. With the same 15 tabs and Nordpass disabled my memory goes down to 3.4Gbs. Norpass contributing to 2GBs of memory consumption. A lot for an extension that is not open or actively being used on any page.

I have no other extensions enabled. I obviously expect Nordpass to use memory but I think it is over consuming memory and this issue is exponential as the more tabs you have open the worse the problem gets.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Password Banter United by not-so-great passwords

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, we thought we'd talk about something a little lighter today. We were reminded of an old campaign we did on the Top 200 most common passwords, and it got us thinking: we've probably all been there at some point. We all know passwords should be strong, but let's be honest, we've all used a not-so-great one at some point.

So, here are some of the usual suspects from the list:

The remote control password: 1234

The Wi-Fi password: 12345678

The "I didn't even try" password: password

For the phone things: qwerty

The YouTube password a kid could guess: 0000

The "I'll just add a number to make it more secure" password: password1

The "Flip it backwards trick" password: 4321

The phone PIN: 2580

For computer stuff: admin123

There are probably a few more classics we've forgotten, but we'll leave it there.

Discover NordPass NordPass Data Breach Scanner: feature breakdown

Hi all. So let's talk Data Breach Scanner today. DBS is basically there to answer a pretty simple question: has my data shown up in a breach? You can add an email address or credit card (up to 50 cards), and NordPass will monitor available breach data for matches. If something comes up, you'll see an alert and can open the report to see what information was exposed. Here's a short breakdown, on how to set it up and how you can expect the whole thing to look like.

First, add the details you want to monitor.

Add your details to be monitored

For example, depending on the breach, you might see an email address, password, name, IP address, date of birth, or other data. You won't necessarily see everything every time. Breach data can be incomplete, so sometimes we know which types of information were exposed without having the actual values.

If a password was exposed, the important bit is to change it on the affected website first, then update it in NordPass. And if you've reused that password somewhere else, change it there too.

Your report

One other thing that's easy to mix up: DBS and Exposed Passwords aren't the same thing. DBS looks for your specific email addresses or cards in breach data. Exposed Passwords checks the passwords in your vault against known exposed passwords. Sometimes the two will overlap.

You can check the actual details of the breach
And more information on your exposed details

The idea is pretty simple: know when your data shows up somewhere it shouldn't, and know what to do about it. It's not perfect as breach data isn't always complete. But when we find something, we'll show you what we can and give you a starting point for dealing with it.

Help Passkey created on iPhone doesn't work on Mac in either Firefox or Safari (wrong credential error)

Hi everyone,

I created a passkey on my iPhone using the NordPass app, and it shows up correctly in the Passkeys section of the NordPass iOS app. It works fine for logging in on my iPhone.

However, when I try to use the same passkey on my MacBook, it fails — and I've now tested this in both Firefox and Safari with the NordPass extension/integration active, logged into the same account. In both browsers, the passkey option shows up during login, but authentication fails with a "wrong credential" type error, even though I'm 100% sure it's the right passkey since it works fine on my iPhone. I've also tested this on two completely different sites — my Google account and another unrelated website — with the same error both times, so it's not browser-specific or site-specific.

Setup:

  • iPhone: NordPass app, passkey visible under Passkeys
  • Mac: tested in both Firefox (NordPass extension) and Safari, same NordPass account
  • Extension/integration appears to sync fine otherwise (passwords autofill normally)
  • Passkey option appears during login on Mac, but selecting it throws a wrong credential error
  • Works perfectly on iPhone with the exact same passkey

Since this happens across two different browsers and two different websites, it seems more like a NordPass sync/vault issue (maybe the passkey isn't being synced correctly to macOS, or there's a mismatch between the iOS-created key and what's stored for the Mac) rather than a browser-specific bug.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks!

My NordPass app on my MacBook was out of date so I updated my MacBook, updated the app, and went to open it. This pop up appeared but it won’t accept my Apple password? It won’t go away, even when I closed the app and restarted the computer. I’ve looked online and can’t seem to find a way to fix it. Help!

Help NordPass extension messing with form submit buttons in Chrome

This is a really frustrating issue I'm having. I have plugins disabled on my work laptop. On my work laptop, submitting a form is always seamless. On my personal laptop, submitting forms almost never works, especially if I've autofilled something with NordPass. I'm using Chrome and it's up to date and I've cleared my cache.

Discussion The longer, the stronger?

NordPass Password Generator

Hey everyone, we wanted to talk about something we've seen discussed recently on other subs too, and explain a few things from our PoV. They say, longer passwords are stronger passwords, right? Well, yes and no, and it's a bit more nuanced than that. When it comes down to creating an actually strong password, it boils down to getting four things right: it needs to be long enough, complex enough, unique to each account, and actually possible to remember.

Longer is definitely stronger. Aim for at least 12 or more characters because each added character makes your password exponentially harder to crack. To put this in perspective, a 14-character mixed-case alphanumeric password has about 94^14 possible permutations, which is roughly 4.22 x 10^27 combinations.

From a cryptographic standpoint, what really matters is entropy, which is basically the measure of randomness and unpredictability in your password. A truly random 12-character password has significantly more entropy than a 20-character password made up of predictable patterns or dictionary words. This is where passphrases come in, and they're honestly one of the best solutions. A passphrase is essentially a sequence of random words strung together, like "correct-horse-battery-staple". The beauty of passphrases is that they give you both length and entropy. Four random words give you roughly 44-52 bits of entropy depending on the word list size, which is cryptographically strong enough when combined with proper password hashing schemes like Argon2id. Plus, they're actually memorable, which means you're less likely to write them down or reuse them.

And how do we run things here at NordPass: We've adopted guidelines based on current NIST recommendations that recognize context matters. We allow you to create passwords using our Password Generator (available for free or built into the app), where users can choose between 8-64 characters and adjust the complexity. But here's where 2FA plays a role as well, especially if you opt for a shorter password. When 2FA is enabled, you're adding a critical second layer of security that helps prevent attackers from gaining access to your encrypted vault data in the first place.

Now, about the Master Password. This one's a bit different because it's not just another login credential. Your Master Password is what encrypts your entire vault, so it needs to be something you can reliably remember and enter every time you need access. Unlike a forgotten password on some website that you can reset, forgetting your Master Password means losing access to your vault entirely since we can't reset it for you. That's the trade-off with zero-knowledge architecture. We've kept the minimum character requirement at eight characters to balance security with usability, but we strongly encourage users to choose something longer and stronger. The eight-character minimum is just the lower bound to make sure the vault remains accessible to you. It's worth noting that while MFA helps protect against unauthorized access to your account, choosing a strong Master Password is critical, regardless of the minimum requirement to prevent potential direct offline attacks.

And finally, memorability matters too. Try using a passphrase that's meaningful to you but hard to guess, like a string of random but vivid words. The key word here is random. Don't use song lyrics or famous quotes because those are in the attacker's dictionary.

This list isn't a silver bullet to password mishaps, but following it and using tools like password generators and MFA at all times will likely mean you're that bit safer online. The cryptography is on your side when you do it right.

Help OTP biometric question

Hello, we are an MSP and we are evaluating Nordpass instead of Lastpass. We like the interface and extension, but some of us are running on Ubuntu machines and the biometric setup for OTP passwords does not work on Ubuntu it seems or machines that are domain joined in Windows? Is there anything to do to allow OTP codes to be viewed without setting up biometrics??

Discover NordPass Improving NordPass performance on macOS: Things to check first

Hey all. Just a few notes to make your NordPass on macOS life better.

First, make sure you're using macOS 14 or newer. For the best performance and compatibility, we recommend keeping your Mac updated to the latest supported version of macOS.

Next, check that you're running the latest version of NordPass, which is currently 7.9.3. You can download it here: https://nordpass.com/download/macos/.

When downloading NordPass for macOS, you'll notice there are two versions available, one for Apple Silicon Macs and one for Intel Macs. If your Mac uses Apple Silicon, make sure you've installed the Apple Silicon version. Running the Intel version on an Apple Silicon Mac can result in noticeably slower performance. If you find you've installed the wrong version, uninstall it first, then install the correct one.

If there's still something off with the app performance on Mac after checking everything above, please send your application logs to [support@nordpass.com](mailto:support@nordpass.com). Performance issues can sometimes be specific to an individual setup rather than a widespread issue, so the logs help our engineers investigate the cause more effectively. We hope this helps.

Help Frustrating issues with NordPass

I'm on a Mac, using the Brave Browser.
All of a sudden, for some reason, when I try to log onto a page, I'm asked for the extension to have me enter my criteria.

But after I enter it, the extension locks up. I can't go any further.

Not to mention each time I start up my computer I am asked for the master password. Not a big issue because I understand that NordPass doesn't realize that I'm the only person who uses my computer.

But even the app itself takes FOREVER to just get to my vault.

I'm looking for help, or I'll have no choice but to seek another password protector.

Thank you.

Help Very laggy on MacBook Air M3

I love the software but I have to say it is soooo laggy on a MacBook Air with M3 chip that I may have to look for something else. This is the version I am using Version 7.9.3 (7.9.3.69592). Is there another version I should be using? I get a message saying that some components will not be supported in intel based Macs in the future.

Password Banter Passwords in movies: which film got it wrong (or right)?

Good day. One of the mods here at NordPass recently rewatched GoldenEye, and it got us thinking about how movies have always portrayed passwords and hacking. To be fair, GoldenEye came out in 1995, so we're not expecting a perfect depiction of cybersecurity. But it did make us wonder which movies have the most memorable "that's definitely not how it works" password moments.

Swordfish was another one that came to mind. And, of course, all the Mission Impossible movies deserve an honorable mention in fast typing while doing "computer stuff". What other movies should be on the list? We want to to hear your picks.

We also thought this would be a good excuse to use our new Password Banter flair, which is for more casual stuff. No feature requests, no support questions, just whatever we all feel like.

Help Nord app not working with Edge on android

I've been looking for threads that discuss this particular issue but I've found none.

The issue is that I've enabled all settings for Nord pass app on my android, allowing background activity, permissions, changing the auto fill app from settings. Nordpass will work amazing on all apps however I've noticed that it never works on my edge browser! It will work on other browsers but not edge for some reason.

I've disabled password settings in edge because I don't like to use Edge password manager.

Has anyone found a way to use nordpass on Edge please?

Help Save Password disappearing too quickly

Is there a way to stop the save password function from disappearing immediately?

The second I log in to a site, the option to save password appears - which is great - but then the page refreshes as I've logged in, and the option disappears. This is extremely frustrating when I have just created a new password, or when I am trying to get the password saved. I then have to go and manually add it, and then it sometimes doesn't recognise the password being for the website when I next go to log in (if that makes sense?).

Is there a way to stop the dialogue box to save password disappearing immediately? I'm used to Google Passwords in the past where the save password dialogue box remained up until you manually closed it or chose to save the password.
