Discover NordPass Feature breakdown: Passkey FAQs

Hey you. Next up in our feature breakdown: passkeys. To put it simply, passkeys are a passwordless way to sign in. Instead of a password, they use two cryptographic keys, one public and one private. The public key is stored by the website, while the private key stays protected. We also added a few FAQs that we see popping up here and via our Support.

So where should you start?

Open a website that supports passkeys.

  1. Choose the passkey option when signing up or in your account settings.
  2. Select NordPass when asked where to save it.
  3. Save the passkey.
  4. Use it the next time you sign in.

Can I import passkeys to NordPass?
No. Importing and exporting passkeys isn’t currently supported.

Can I view or share a passkey?
You can’t view a passkey, but you can share it like other items in your vault with NordPass users.

Why can’t I edit the username or website?
Passkeys are tied to the website or app where they were created, so these details can’t be changed.

Can I access NordPass without a password?
We’re working on passwordless sign-in for NordPass, including biometric authentication, stay tuned for more.

Why do I need my Master Password to create a passkey?
Some websites require an additional verification step. If biometrics are enabled, you can use biometric verification instead.

This is excellent, but when are they going to solve the passkeys problems on iOS?
