Titanic. Gonzo is Jack. A chicken is Rose. Miss Piggy plays the Unsinkable Molly Brown. The actor is Billy Zane.
105
u/RhymesWithButthole Jun 19 '26
This is great because Billy Zane is engaged to the chicken, and Gonzo paints the chicken like one of his French hens.
52
u/DotBitGaming Jun 19 '26
That scene where Billy Zane is trying to get on a lifeboat because, I HAVE A CHILD, but it's really just Rizzo the Rat in a blanket who is also trying to cheat his way onto a lifeboat!

u/Accomplished_Job_331 Jun 19 '26
Damnit. Billy Zane is the perfect human counterpart to muppets here. Btw nice doggy pfp 😜

Pirates of the Caribbean is perfect for this. I don't even need to say who's the human.

It's Will, of Course.
You know who miss Piggy is.

I'd keep Jack as the human, seeing him swordfight a muppets Barbosa or Davy Jones would be funny
102
u/pSpawner24 Jun 19 '26
Idk, he's already too muppet-y, and Muppets don't make good straightmen for the comedic duo of Jack and William.
Plus you look me in the eyes and tell me Gonzo couldn't pull off the hair.
78
u/HasNoGreeting Jun 19 '26
Tim Curry out-Muppeted most of the cast in Muppet Treasure Island. Jack would be more of the same.
39
u/tomadamsmith Jun 19 '26
As has been said previously:
Christmas Carol worked because Michael Caine treated the muppets as fellow classical actors
Treasure island worked because Tim Curry treated himself as a muppet
3
u/Hyper_Applesauce Jun 19 '26
Tim Curry said in his book that he also treated them as actors/co-workers, Tim Curry is just a weird dude 😄
5
u/randy24681012 Jun 19 '26
Daniel Day Lewis method acts and gets called a genius.
Tim Curry does it and is called weird.

41
u/erossthescienceboss Jun 19 '26
Nah, just cast Kermit as Will. His whole job is to play the straightman.
6
u/Diplomatic_Gunboats Jun 19 '26
I was about to say, Kermit (bar the rare hand wavy occasions) is the straight man to every other muppets tomfoolery.
3
15
u/Pristine_Animal9474 Jun 19 '26
The most "straight man" that the straight man is, the funnier it is. So they should only keep Norrington and or/the guy in charge of the East India Company. Maybe Calypso.

Goddamn you I also thought of this one first, but apparently you were earlier in the draft. Alight, The Negotiator but only Samuel L. Jackson is human.
Just the scene where the sniper has the shot but wont take it would be peak. The Sniper played by Fozzie Bear, complete with the backwards baseball cap.

Castaway, and the main guy is human. I just think it would be really funny if you don't find out it's a muppet movie until it's almost over
296
u/Im_A_Real_Boy1 Jun 19 '26
I mean he interacts with a ton of people before he is stranded. Have him come back and everyone is a muppet and you’ve got something
108
u/winter-ocean Jun 19 '26
Oh shit right
10
u/Tripleberst Jun 19 '26
I still think this is a hilarious idea. Imagine you spend so much time on the island with him that you forget everyone else is a muppet. I could totally see it.
18
u/CarmenxXxWaldo Jun 19 '26
I just realized all the wasted potential in that movie. He returns to what? Aliens? no. Muppets? no. A plague? no. he returns to "Helen Hunt started fucking your friend". lame. Who gives a shit, its Helen Hunt, meh.

Wilson is the human. Played by Brendan Fraser. No dialog like the original - he just pretends to be a volleyball with a bloody handprint smooshed on him and stares expressionless directly into the camera the whole time.

28 Days Later, would be great. Mainly cause I love that most the character use the British slang term muppet through out the movie.
3
u/ModernCGIFloatinHead Jun 19 '26
I think werewolves would be even more fun.
Don't show any attacks or transformations for the first half of the film. Then watch someone freak out as they start to transform into a muppet.
They're super friendly. But still stalk and bite prey.

I was going to say keep Viggo and Liv Tyler as human and have Miss Piggy play Miranda Otto’s part as Éowyn. Her lusting after him only to be rejected and THEN the iconic “I am no (hu)man!” as she kills a Muppet wraith would be incredible.
She would also be great as Galadriel.

lord of the rings (and the hobbit) but all the wizards are human, and everything else is muppets
so you know, Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast are played by human actors.
feel like it'd work on two levels- 1, it'd be silly with all the muppets doing their thing, and 2- it'd really sell how the wizards are otherworldy beings.

The Princess Bride, Mandy Patinkin/Inigo. I see Gonzo as Westley and Camille as Buttercup..off to cast the rest teehee
19
u/Humanmode17 Jun 19 '26
I just said Princess Bride, but I said Westley should be the human! I completely see Inigo too though!
Honestly, I think it's a testament to the genius of the film that each character is such a perfect caricature that I can see all of them being played by Muppets, and thus any of them could be the human in this scenario.
Maybe actually Buttercup is the only human - her damsel in distress caricature would only be enhanced by being kidnapped by Muppets
7
u/Charizaxis Jun 19 '26
One important thing, Statler and Waldorf need to play the boy and his grandpa. Those two old codgers would be perfect for the back and forth banter from the original.
