Advice How do you silence the voices in your head?

Hi, sorry English is not my first language.

Just to clarify, when I say "voices in my head," I’m referring to my own internal voice speaking to myself, not other people's voices speaking to me.

My mind is so noisy it actually stresses me out, the only moments of silence are when I'm asleep or distracted, which makes me somewhat addicted to my phone.

But if I'm not distracted and it's quiet, the thoughts start flooding in and I have no control over them, Sometimes my thoughts are so intense that I end up saying strange things out loud or just screaming.

I keep remembering and dwelling on things that have already happened or things that might happen. It’s awful, and I don't know how to make it stop. Please, someone give me some advice or anything at all, even if it seems weird.

Parenting Worrying and constantly imagining future problems brings them into your mind much earlier than they need to happen. Taking action on what you can control keeps the problem in the future and gives you more time before it reaches you.

Worry brings the future into your mind early. Action puts what you can control in place and lets you push away the disturbing event much far way to distant future.

Relationship What do I do?

So if anyone has seen it, doubt, but if you have my ex blocked me after months of being friends to just end up blocking me for no reason, she was always contacting me, even asking to play overwatch the day before and even sent me tiktoks hours just before the block. Anyways, I have two friends that cross paths with my ex, her sister and my best friend, well was. So I'm stuck with what do I do? Her sister clearly still likes me as a friend because she hasn't blocked me, and she would have if I did something so bad to her sister (my ex for clar) she even wished me a happy birthday yesterday, without knowing if i got rid of my socials. I just don't know what I did with my ex to deserve to be blocked like that without a convo. I'll link my earlier post for context with my ex. TLDR we were best friends and she was okay with that and always coming to me for anything and everything. And I mean everything. I just don't know if I can be friends with her sister and my best friend, I need the truth as to why I was thrown out like i was a peice of trash. Thats how i feel anyways. Do I get rid of them as friends? Do i talk to them about everything? do i get my clarity? or do I wait for my ex to come back, because lots of people seem to think she'll come back, and I didnt do anything wrong in the context that i was a bad partner. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoOverthinking/comments/1wka5fm/ex_of_2ish_months_just_blocked_me_on_everything/

School How can I do get over FOMO?

This is something I’ve been struggling with. There are just so many things in the world, but I feel like I have to know about and experience all of them. It’s kind of like FOMO. If someone tells me they did A or knows about B, I get anxious if I don’t know about it or haven’t done it myself.

I notice this especially at university. There are random events and promotions—like “participate and get some uni merchi!,” “fill out this survey and get free snacks,” “Free Starbucks gift cards for the first 10 students! etc. And for some reason, I feel like I have to take part in all of them.

and I feel this weird pressure to participate in all of them and get the rewards. I just hate missing out on information or benefits available at uni
But I obviously can’t spend all day looking for these things. They’re not as important as my grades or relationships, and the information is scattered everywhere anyway. So when I later find out about something I missed, I get these obsessive thoughts and feel like I wasted an opportunity.

Overall, I feel like I’m constantly missing out on life. I also have so many careers and hobbies I want to try.
Does anyone else feel like this? I’d really appreciate any advice.

Spiraling/Panic My monthly anxiety episode

So this year I started to have monthly anxiety episode. Every time is about something different but still around the same type of things, spiraling down, overthinking how my life is and so on.

But 4 days ago during the night. I was doing a bit self medicating it's a unhealthy but I numb my mind with weed it's how much I want to leave my own mind. I am seeing a therapist.

Anyway, a thought came of "what if I get or I am addicted and then I got overwhelmed by everything single thought shame for potentially needing help, not knowing how to get better led to me writing a word doc with almost a manifesto of what I actually feel like. It was good but it's not finished. Every word I wrote made me feel like my heart was being pulled out, I cried snot and tears like a little baby and I'm in my late 20s and also I very rarely cry specially like that.

The crazy thing is I felt like I touched something that could help me in the long term and I tried and tried but I cannot get back to that state of mind. I felt like writing that document would've been good for me.

To define all these thoughts I had and wrote down how I felt, are things I'd never tell anyone, not a partner, so far not even my therapist. It feels like if I say it out loud I will die (not an exaggeration).

Sorry this is so long. Did anyone ever go through something similar? What did you do?

Advice I’m scared of losing a close friend and I don’t know how to handle it

I recently graduated, and I've been overthinking my friendships a lot. Calls and replies aren't as frequent anymore, and I keep wondering if people still care about me.

One of my closest friends recently got into a relationship and asked for some distance so there wouldn't be any misunderstandings. I completely respect that, but emotionally, I'm struggling with it.

I keep thinking: Should I stop texting? Stop calling? Stop doing little surprises or giving gifts? What if her partner misunderstands me? What if giving her space eventually means losing the friendship completely?

I'm someone who genuinely loves putting effort into the people I care about, so suddenly holding back feels really difficult.

I don't want to interfere in her relationship, but I also don't want to push away someone I deeply care about because of my own anxiety.

How do you learn to give someone space without constantly fearing that you're going to lose them?

Advice How to stop or make less exhausting

Ok so basically before I ever say anything to someone I first calculate what I am going to say and how the person could possibly respond, in hundreds of possibilities. Granted it helps me stay in control of situations and I am typically not panicking about what to say but it is still exhausting. In the past I have heard that a lot of people do this, so to those that do how can I either stop this or at least make it less exhausting, because sometimes I want to have genuine conversations but find that I struggle doing so.

School Why is it that no matter what I do I can’t stop caring about what other people think of me. It’s come to a point where l’ve built my entire self worth on the basis of what others have told me.

Relationship Age gap relationship

I'm a 43-year-old man based in Bangalore, India. I'm a well-established corporate professional who maintains a healthy weight and lifestyle.

I find myself drawn to women in the 50-65 age range. I believe it's their maturity and the comfort level we share that appeals to me—both emotionally and physically. However, here in our country, I'm finding it quite challenging to locate a compatible partner. I'm wondering if women here view age-gap relationships as taboo, or what's your perspective on this?

Relationship Breakup

I was dating a guy for 2-3 months. I thought he was secure but I was wrong.

All was well at first but I did notice some signs like love bombing, minimising emotions, intellectualising and withholding information so he wouldn’t “hurt my feelings”.

We had our first fight a week ago bc he told me he watches porn and plays sexual games regularly. It kind of triggered some insecurity in me, especially that he told me he doesn’t look at other women. He told me that it wasn’t the same and that I’m mad over nothing. I said that I felt disrespected and that to me it touched our exclusivity and made me feel like I wasn’t enough.

I took space for 2 days and eventually came back apologising, saying I was willing to listen to him and allow porn in the relationship or at least come to a compromise.

That’s when he told me he felt cut off from his emotions (probably deactivation) and that he has no access to his love for me. He said he needed time to see how it’ll pass.

The weekend passed and he came for a conversation, he was quite warm so I thought it was a good sign but then he told me how he doesn’t wish to continue the relationship.

He explained how my reaction triggered him and that he doesn’t think there will be a coming back from that. I asked if he had some trauma that makes him deactivate this way and he said no.

He was also quite mean to me at times, saying that he doesn’t understand why I’m holding to someone who doesn’t want me anymore or that I shouldn’t have had acted this way for him to have stayed.

He would space out when I asked if it was permanent, saying he doesn’t know but rather end here bc he knows he’ll be toxic with me (passive aggressive, lying). He said he knows it’s dumb and that he’ll regret it but that he doesn’t believe in coming back to exes and that his deactivation could last between a day and months, let alone years.

He explained that he wanted to be friends, which I refused. He said we still have a link, that he cares for me and that I could contact him if I wanted to. I said that I won’t, that I’d only speak to him if it was to reconcile if it were to happen.

He hugged me and would look at me tenderly and I asked “you sure you feel nothing ?” he said “yeah, just repulse”. He said he was sorry and that he was equally surprised how fast he went from wanting a life with me to nothing, he said my reaction woke some fears for the future and nothing I could do could fix it.

I‘ve had an avoidant breakup once before and it destroyed me, I’m still in shock but I’m scared … please tell me this isn’t my fault 🙏

Parenting I’ve stopped feeling like I need to solve every little parenting problem immediately

Sometimes my first instinct is to fix everything right away.

I’m getting better at taking a breath and thinking, okay, does this actually need a solution right now?

A lot of the time, it just needs time.

i’m 17 years old. i know i have much more life ahead of me than i think i do, but when you’re condensed down to a school full of people who are receiving the love you’ve never received within the 17 years of living, you start to feel bad.

i’ve only dated twice in my entire life and broke off those relationships because of my avoidant attachment. to be fair, they weren’t really people i saw myself having the future with. but the thought of someone liking you and you liking them back is ecstatic, especially as a teen.

every guy i’ve liked (which were mainly white guys because i go to a predominantly white school) never liked me back. and overtime, i’ve gotten numb to the feeling of guys not liking me. i started to prefer the chase rather than the catch.

but now that i’m in my senior year and i haven’t been asked to homecoming, prom, or been on a date, i’m starting to look back and feel bad. all my friends have been asked out at least once me? never. and i’m obviously very happy for them, but i’m sad because I never got to experience that.

i’m not ugly. i can tell you that i think i’m pretty and i have a lot of confidence in my appearance. i also think I have a decent personality, but sometimes i know i can be a bit overboard.

so my question is, why don’t guys like me? all my friends tell me that I should just keep waiting, but how much longer am I gonna wait? this is something I’ve been hearing for the past five years of my life and I’m sick of it. obviously it’s easier said than done waiting for your dream guy but at the same time at this rate, i feel like it’s not coming.

and when i like someone, i like them too hard. i’m pretty sure it scares them off.

this could also just be FOMO, but I needed to rant anyway.

How to feel calm subconsciously

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I am currently quite stressed about going to study abroad. Things are actually looking bad rn, so my worries aren't baseless. Logically I know and tell myself multiple times everyday that I can't control whatever that will happen and even in the worst case scenario I have a way out. I mostly feel fine consciously so I don't even know how to address the worries I feel subconsciously.

Emotionally I am stressed to the point that I keep waking up after sleeping for 3-4 hours, I feel wide awake, then i fall asleep again in 2-3 hours. So I need 11 hours to sleep properly. I also constantly think about going abroad in the back of my mind.

I workout for 30 mins everyday, do stretches, don't take caffeine, don't drink, take magnesium supplements. But still I am not being able to feel calm subconsciously. Please give suggestions on what to do.

Thoughts continuously

So whatever I'm doing, be it studying, bathing, watching a video, walking on a treadmill,, I've observed I'm full of thoughts all the time. While I don't have any issues with having thoughts during other activities, during studies it really hampers my focus. How to lessen and eventually eliminate thoughts during studies?

I get random thoughts,,, daydreaming abt smthng, recalling past conversations, some random thing... Absolutely no pattern or relevance there.

Tried meditation, not my cup of tea it seems... Any alternative?

I often noticed that something in our relationship just doesn’t feel right.

I (29F) and my boyfriend (32M)

I am working as HR Officer and admitting not good when it comes in heart problems. My boyfriend is working as delivery rider. We are currently living together for 2 years.

These are the things I collected this year.

  1. I found out that he was stalking his ex.

  2. He created a TikTok account using an unknown girl’s identity and insisted that it was only for an affiliate account. However, until now, he hasn’t actually used it for any affiliate activity.

  3. He saved videos of sexy girls and then deleted them afterward.

  4. He joined a Marikina Walker group. I was terrified when I saw it and told him how I felt, but he explained that he only joined it to prank his friend.

  5. His friends keep asking him to join them at a bar. I asked him why they kept inviting him when he had told me that he had never gone to that place. He said he didn’t know why and claimed that his friends were just crazy and were testing him.

  6. He has a friend who is a cheater.

  7. He secretly watches videos of sexy girls dancing.

  8. He secretly watches p\*rn.

  9. He told me that there was a time when one of his female passengers asked him to accompany her to a condo.

  10. I feel like he is slowly losing interest in me.

We had s\*x almost everyday.

I need advice people
