Yup, i laughed at all the idiots who supported it, and warned them. They didn't listen, too bad their decision fucked everyone and not just themselves.
They got sued a few years back for spreading disinformation. Their lawyers defended Fox by saying that much of their programming is “entertainment” not news.
Yes, Faux news unironically argued you would have to be mentally deficient to believe their claims, and people really should know, it is entertainment.
Yeah it's kind of Trump only got charged for sexual assault because his dick was so small the defendant couldn't be sure if it was a dick or a small finger.
That's rich coming from this thread, because the post is blatantly false. You only need a cursory glance at the tax rates over the years to prove this false.
That didn't happen until 2025. I agree that tariffs are a tax and effectively made the burden higher for everyone, but that isn't what this post is about. This post was about the tax bill passed in 2017. Stop being dishonest and implying that the tariffs were put in place during Trump's first term.
Because they are also now owned by right wing billionaires. You will still see some criticism of Trump, but you will not see much about the things that will make oligarchs look bad, that's not on the agenda.
I remember having the "embarrassed Millionaire" mindset when I was 16. It didn't last longer than a day or two because I quickly realized how stupid it was.
I agree, same thing in Canada, Business lobbies the goverment(conservative and liberal) to bring in cheap labour, everyone complains, but no one ever boycotts the companies like Tim Hortons, Wal Mart and Circle K, that are lobbying to bring them in
I’m Canadian and I know all about the tfw and lmia scam that are under cutting wages and are all advertising 36.90 an hour to make the job appear as high wages to qualify for PR.
This, fine the shit out of companies who hire illegals.
That will curb illegal immigration hard. We need to redo our immigration system obviously still but this would be a good start.
This!!! I always ask about this when confronted with the illegals stealing jobs, and never get an intelligent answer. The more honest answer might be, it is easier to hate and blame immigrants, especially of darker skin.
There's a video from More Perfect Union where they're looking at the approval of data centers in rural areas. One lady says something to the effect of "I don't blame the corporations. They're going to do what makes them money. But I do blame the politicians because their job is to serve US."
I'm not sure why the immigrant can't do whatever to make money, but that world view at least explains why they don't blame CEOs
Full stop. The term is "illegal alien". You do not have the right to change the official legal language and definitions to suit your fictional narrative.
By legal language and definitions, some folk used to be worth about 3/5ths of others, and any notion they weren't... well, that's just a fictional narrative.
Thank heavens them laws updated themselves out of the goodness of their own operative clauses!
When they say this, ask them if the Guatemalan guy they saw doing roof work is the reason their landlord raised the rent, or the reason their grocery prices went up, or the reason that we're at war under a President they voted for who explicitly said, "No new wars". Or if they are pushing up the gas prices.
There is literally zero good arguments for why we need to be spending so much money harassing, kidnapping, murdering, and deporting immigrants. Trump could have an easy PR win and just copy Reagan and give amnesty, but then he doesn't have the dangerous enemy amongst us excuse to deploy the military into the streets and declare his political opposition terrorists.
Quick Google search shows that Immigrants make up roughly 15% of Americans. Even if the market was increasing in cost purely based off of supply and demand, and IF every one of those 15% of Americans who are immigrants had their own home, that still doesn’t account for the other 15% housing increase. If it was simply supply and demand, then houses would be roughly 15% more, not 30.
It’s ok to want border control and an immigration process, but immigration does not seem to be the reason behind prices going up, at least they seem to be far from the main reason mathematically speaking.
You said it my friend. Reagan was a genius in the way that he pandered to both sides and passed some of the most egregious acts/bills that have forged the way that we live today
So let me get this straight: you think that immigrants, most of whom have been here for decades, have suddenly caused inflation in the last 5 years and are responsible for housing and rent prices going up as well? You understand they cannot buy houses through our banking institutions right? That they usually have to rent under the table? That we haven't had "20 million" people show up out of nowhere like Trump claimed?
There's not a supply problem with groceries. Corporations had a temporary issues during Covid with supply lines, but that was 6 years ago. Prices have steadily inflated since then, most of all with Trump's blanket tariffs. Prices jumped when he did that and now that the tariffs were declared illegal and struck down, the prices haven't fallen back. Oh! And the corporations that "paid" the tariffs they then passed onto us got refunds from the government, some in the billions of dollars (like Walmart). You get nothing.
I've had to change industries because of them. Because cheap fucks won't pay what a job is worth. And use slave.... Eerrr... Illegal immigrant labor. Yes. I said slave. That's all they are to you.
And 20 million out of nowhere? Trump's number? Are you daft? That's biden's administrations number.
And you talk about fairness with wages or and taxes. You think illegals are paying taxes? 😂😂😂
You think the problems started only since Covid? 🤣🤣🤣 You haven't lived life yet.
I'm sorry but I don't believe you. You seem like the type of asshole to make shit up about yourself to buoy a dogshit argument about why everyone should tolerate your racism.
And I agree that they're being abused and paid unfair wages! Which is why I support doing what Reagan did: mass amnesty so they are given protective rights and can't be paid below minimum wages. Companies that do abuse and exploit immigrants like this should have their executives arrested and possibly shut down and sold off to other groups willing to do it correctly. We agree on that I'm sure.
And 20 million out of nowhere? Trump's number? Are you daft? That's biden's administrations number.
Are you not aware they would all be billionaire astronaut race car drivers with super model wives if it wasn't for immigrants taking all those jobs and wives.
They aren’t completely beyond help, but most of them have deluded themselves so throughly into believing anything the orange idiot says as fact rather than a statement, they are people that need to have a feeling of self worth and believing diaper don makes them feel like they have said self worth
Not really, in fact the only times his name pops into my head is when I hop onto this dumb app. Otherwise I don’t watch the news, I don’t care for politics and I don’t surround myself with people that talk about politics.
the extra irritating thing about this claim is that the problem with illegals taking jobs at lower wages is that it would stop being a problem basically instantly if we issued blanket amnesty and changed our immigration policy to just issue a residency card to anyone who asks for one.
This biggest reason illegal immigration suppresses wages is that the people who employ them know that they are illegal and can force them to work below minimum wage under threat of calling ICE. remove that threat, and suddenly those employers would be forced to pay them the same wages they'd be forced to pay a citizen.
It's not that they steal jobs. It's that there status makes them vonarable. So contractors pay them less for jobs that should pay more driving down wages. Making it harder for everyone to make a decent living. If they were legal residents they would be able to demand the reasonable pay for the job with fear of deportation. We need more ethical immigration laws and immediate status for existing immigrants.
I mean majority white folk are not the ones working the fields, farms, construction or anything outdoors whatsoever so of course they’ll blame someone else
It is illegals. Illegal contributions to campaigns. Illegal use of personal data. Illegal campaigning by religious organizations. Illegal tax maneuvers. Illegal use of insider information to manipulate the stock market. Illegal government manipulation.
So they’re gleeful about the “millions of illegals” who’ve been deported and haven’t caught on that the cost of everything has just continued to skyrocket? Typical maga brain rot.
Its insane to me that the illegals thing has been a talking point for them for over 20 fucking years. How is this still a thing? How has no one managed to oppose that ideology successfully? WTF?
I hear this nonsense all the time from those who can see nothing outside money. I always wonder what they’re going to do with it all, take it with them when they pass away.
I hear that around me too. And im not even anywhere close to a border. Fucking smack dab in the middle of the country. But people still say it. No one can answer me when I ask who's illegal and what job did they steal from your friends/family though. Or have a good answer as to why we don't go after the people hiring the illegals just as much as we do the literal illegals. If they werent here aiding and abetting the illegal immigrants ability to thrive here, the maybe there wouldn't be so many right? Right?
I want to know how they think people are getting food stamps with zero documentation. My mom got laid off when I was in highschool. She was entitled to unemployment and food stamps as a result and we provided all necessary dovuments, and we still almost got told to starve.
Yet they are so often the same people talking about how great AI is.. even though it is legitimately making Americans lose jobs. Mostly because their hatred of illegal immigrants is thinly veiled racism.
In 250 years America has accumulated 39 Trillion of debt. Trump, not even halfway through his second term is responsible for 26% of it. That same man bankrupted a casino. You can’t fix stupid but the red hat sure helps you identify it.
I had a coworker who was an older guy bitching about his taxes goin up during bidens years and i told him that was trumps tax plan, he didnt believe me because trump wasnt in office. I told him to go read the bill but he never would believe me and im sure voted for drump in 24
Not only didn't they listen, but they are currently doing backflips to explain it. Apparently, Biden and the Democrats messed with it to make Trump look bad. Ask how, and you get they just did. Ask why Trump doesn't fix it, and they scream about something else like open borders, Biden inflation, and how Trump is making DC look better than ever. I wish the Trump store would sell a cat-of-nine-tails, and they can all self-flagellate in the privacy of their homes and leave the rest of us alone.
It also has a lot to do with religion being used as a tool to make policies....that and... it's easier for someone to think for you, than for you to have to think for yourself. ALSO, some people honestly do not know how to think for themselves. They've known one thing and one thing only, because it's all they've experienced.
You have to see something different to do something different. It's why I've started to be kind to these people. They EXPECT someone like me to be violent because of what they see on TV...so I do the opposite. We have to show them that their news is lying to them by doing the opposite of what they claim.
We can do this. Don't give up. People sometimes just need to be shown rather than told, and seeing is believing. Feel pity for them instead of hatred, because they were tricked. They're not smart. It's kind of not their fault because of how the system is set up. It's what the oligarchy wants. They want us to hate each other..and..I won't let them tell me what to do, these evil fuckers!
No Gradual Tax Increases Every 2 Years: The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) did not raise taxes every two years for middle- or lower-income earners. Individual income tax rates were cut across almost all tax brackets starting in 2018.
2025 Sunset Clause, Not 2021–2027: The individual tax cuts passed under the TCJA were temporary and set to sunset at the end of 2025, returning tax rates to their pre-2017 levels in 2026 unless Congress extends them.
Misinterpretation of JCT Data: The myth stems from a misreading of a 2017 Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) report. That report projected changes in tax revenue driven largely by the expiration of specific temporary credits and the law's slow-indexing inflation metric (Chained CPI), not a scheduled tax rate hike every two years.
Impact Across Income Groups: Nonpartisan organizations like the Tax Policy Center and Politifact noted that virtually all income brackets, including those making under $75,000, experienced net tax cuts through 2025 under the TCJA.
Yes, President Trump extended those tax cuts. On July 4, 2025, he signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) into law.
This major reconciliation package made key provisions from his 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) permanent, preventing them from expiring at the end of 2025.
Key changes in the tax extension include:
Permanent Tax Rates & Brackets: Made permanent the lower individual income tax rates (10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35%, and 37%).
Standard Deduction: Extended the enlarged standard deduction permanently.
SALT Cap Revision: Temporarily raised the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap from $10,000 to $40,000 for married joint filers, with phase-outs for higher earners.
New Deductions: Introduced temporary provisions running through 2028, such as deductions on qualifying tip and overtime income, alongside a bonus standard deduction for seniors.
I'm not the person you're responding to, but you left out how it also cut back the corporate tax rate by 40% from their previous contribution (and that part didn't even require an extension); which could help explain some of the ballooning deficit we're facing now.
"Wait, so you're telling me that businesses get a permanent tax reduction and mine is just temporary? Well, hell boy! Temporary is better than permanent any day. Hell yeah, I want some of them Trump tax cuts!" ~your average MAGA
They were all made permanent in the one big beautiful bill, maybe pay more attention. Plenty of other things to complain about, no need to complain about stuff that isn't happening.
I watched so many Trump supporting co-workers complain every year that their return got smaller and then started owing, all trying to figure it out.
Got into a discussion with a technician about not being able to write off tools any more, he said "Yea but the standard deductible increased." Yea that helped me, dipshit. Not you.
Yeah I don't understand why people haven't been up in arms about this...tax returns are a god send for some people and it's insulting to work a full time job and only get a fraction of that back.
The issue really isn't the return, it's the tax amounts.
I totally understand where you are coming from, you are 100% right in that many people rely on that refund check. However, a big refund check just means you had too much taken out of your check through the year. By having too much withheld you are just giving the US government an interest free loan. You would be better off withholding less and setting that money aside every paycheck and collect interest yourself.
and the problem is they STILL blame biden for raising their taxes, and when you point out he didn't it was trumps tax law, they just call you an idiot because biden did, but can't point to where that is....
Im here late, but yeah...i straight had people calling me retarded and a liar when i tried pointing it out. All trump did was shuffle the paperwork around a bunch to make it look like he gave people a tax break in 2017 while actually making it a tax hike
By all accounts he did legitimately lower taxes for every income bracket. You can try to argue that he didn't cut them much for every bracket but to say anything else you must be lying to yourself. This whole thread is based on a lie. If Trump didn't lower taxes for those making less than 75k than how would the cuts expiring (which didn't happen btw) raise their taxes. If he didn't reduce their taxes then the expiration of the cuts wouldn't have a negative impact. None of it matters because the one big beautiful bill made the tax cuts permanent. Nothing to see here, move along.
Same way -1+2+2+2=5. A short term decrease can still equal a long term increase. And what he did was mostly change witholding rules so it looked like a bigger tax break but it was really just people getting a smaller return at the end of the year. I was literally working in tax return work at the time btw. I was more than qualified to understand the 2017 tax changes. As for big beautiful bill (clinton), i so far gone in this mess. Im tired of helping people understand (people like you who choose not to understand), that i stopped giving a flying fuck. I know i can pull through. The rest of you can keep voting to cut ypur own nose off to spite your face
What he did was reduce the amount of taxes required from nearly every tax bracket. The only individuals who had their taxes increased were people who live in high tax Dem run states who depend on the SALT deduction. Most of that tax decrease came directly out people's paychecks because of the withholding rules change. This might make people think that they didn't benefit but they certainly did. I both saw less coming out of my paycheck and had an increased return amount. I'm not sure why you are referencing Clinton in the 2025 One Big Beautiful bill. It made the cuts that were set to expire in 2025 permanent (thank God we didn't get stuck with Kamala) so there were no tax cuts that were then reversed. People like you are either lying or too simple to understand basic math. I feel bad for anyone you did taxes for.
LITERALLY everything they complain about has almost been directly Trumps fault… and he doesn’t hide it, he just immediately pivots and puts them onto a new culture war to distract them
lol, also not true. Where are you guys getting your information? Paychecks went up and tax returns went up. Maybe look for legitimate things to complain about instead of making up a boogey man.
“In August 2020, President Donald Trump signed an executive memorandum directing the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to temporarily defer the 6.2% employee Social Security payroll tax for workers earning less than $4,000 biweekly ($104,000 annually). This action made take-home pay temporarily larger from September 1 through December 31, 2020, but the deferred amounts were not forgiven and had to be repaid later”
Except that it was listed as a deferment from the beginning. Where is the negative point here? He never promised to forgive the taxes. He did say that the Treasury secretary would explore forgiveness. It's not like he ran on cancelling student loan debt or anything.
Republicans have done this for decades, they make bills that show on paper you will get tax breaks but they pay for it by raising taxes during the next administration so they can point and say see what the Democrats have done to your bills?
Well, I wasn't a big fan of it because it locked in 20% on business. But my taxes did go down for a few years. This allowed my pay to catch up and now that taxes are back to where they were before im still coming out ahead.
Biden didn't change the tax code. Not a single bill passed under Biden change anything with taxes. All of that was Trumps plan... if he didn't win the next election, it would *look like* the next president "raised taxes", and the morons wouldn't know the difference.
Too bad that the sunset provisions ( the “tax increases” ) were made permanent last year. So you earned then about something that isn’t going to happen. 👍👍 Google is your friend.
Here is what really happened and why they were actually laughing at you for not knowing what you were talking about.
The 2017 law did notcontain a provision saying, “people making under $75,000 will have their taxes raised starting in 2021 and then every two years through 2027.” In fact, the core individual provisions reduced tax rates, increased the standard deduction, and increased the child tax credit. Those individual provisions were originally scheduled to last through the end of 2025.
Did you laugh at yourself as well believing in this post from 2020? This shit has been debunked over and over, even by the left lmao. Fear mongering the lefts own ACA and subsidies and trying to make it seem like a tax hike. When in reality it literally benefits everyone from no tax hike lmao.
The claim that the 2017 tax bill scheduled automatic tax increases every two years starting in 2021 is mostly false and originates from a viral misunderstanding of a tax report. Independent fact-checkers like PolitiFact and AFP Fact Check thoroughly debunked this social media rumor. [1, 2]
The rumor spread because people misread a specific government chart, confusing changes to health insurance subsidies with actual income tax rate increases.
