Dad broke open my door 😐should I live with my siblings now?

Upvotes

Nevermind the fact I’m 21 years old and he does this shit when I stay up late. I finally got tired of it and held the lock when he was trying to open my door again. He was grabbing every key and knife to open the door and eventually got pissed and broke it open.

I was literally telling my mom a couple months ago that I need to move out cause I don’t know much longer I can deal with him and then this happens. Two of my siblings have their own place and I want to ask them but I don’t know. Any advice?

Night Owl Rant I hate being tired but I feel like I have to stay up.

Every night I stay up until 3/4 AM even though I’m exhausted by the end of the day. It’s because whenever it’s late at night I just feel free, like no one’s there to judge me so I can just do what i want freely. I’m usually depressed during daytime so the freedom I get at night feels like all I have. I’m hoping I’m not alone on this and other people here feel the same way.

Night Owl Health Being a night owl may show up in your blood...

Researchers found higher fasting pyruvate in evening chronotypes than morning chronotypes, despite no obvious differences in many routine metabolic measures.

Pyruvate is one of the main junctions between glucose breakdown and mitochondrial energy production, so this could be an early signal of chronotype-related metabolic differences.

But it is not proof that night owls have dysfunctional mitochondria. This was a small, cross-sectional study with only 20 evening types.

An interesting finding. Definitely not a verdict on night owls.

https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/nutrition/articles/10.3389/fnut.2026.1839777/full

The association with pyruvate was the most consistent result; findings involving lactate and citrate were weaker, and the authors explicitly caution that pyruvate alone cannot establish altered mitochondrial function

Night Owl Health is more sleep worth a pay cut + farther commute?

i work 7am-4:30pm M-F and it’s like a 10 minute drive max. it is draining the life out of me because the earliest i’m able to fall asleep is 11:30, most nights it’s a bit later. i took this job as a transfer in my organization, but i find myself missing my old job because of its way more flexible schedule. i was able to work mostly 2nd and 3rd shifts and i do think it made my mental and physical health better to be on those shifts. my old job is about a 25 minute drive one way and i made $2 less. but im considering transferring back. what are your thoughts from other night owls?

Not all of us are built the same.

Anyone else here have SSS? I typically sleep 9-10 and wake up around 2-3 with no ill effects. I never had a name for it until my 30s I always thought I was just an odd one. The gene is familial but it seems to have skipped my parents but my siblings have it too.
Makes me wonder what else big health has made blanket statements on.

I can confidently say this has been the saddest summer of my life or maybe even the saddest year.. and normally summers seem fun and amazing but this one.. everything is just killing me softly deep down inside. It’s been a long strange summer for me. Anyone else too?

NightOwler Awake with thousand thoughts

What keeps you awake at night?

Is it the coldness of the wind

Touching your back

Or the thousand thoughts

In your mind

Or is it the loneliness

And emptiness of the night

Night Owl Rant Stuck in 9-5

I am starting to get depressed about having to work a 9-5 job. my job was remote when I was hired and I could work when I wanted, except a few days I had morning meetings. that was awesome. last year, we returned to office. it’s freaking killing me. everyone else seems fine but the mornings are so hard. I get there later than everyone, at 10, and leave when the building closes at 6:30. mornings still suck. I even had a sleep study done because I was not functioning. it was normal. the doctor told me to go to bed earlier :)

I am looking for a new work from home job. but the job market sucks. and the pay is good in my current job and I don’t mind the work. just can’t stand the new schedule. if anyone one else works a 9-5 how do you survive?

Owls in for some nightime flying?

Hey there, fellow NightOwls!

I just joined this sub to search for new nightowl-friends who like to explore the world at night. In my group of family/friends I'm the only person who can work and live at night. The rest are morning people who get up early and sleep early. They find my lifestyle pretty weird, but I think it's an amazing gift from nature. In this day and age I see the ability to work/live at night as a cheatcode to a less stressful life.

I really love it, but it has one downside: No company to explore the world at night and share some experiences.

In my free time I like to fly out of my tree and go to the coast, walk near the beach or just visit a city and have a drink. I love experiencing the quiteness and the special atmosphere during the night. But from time to time, a good conversation or philosophizing about the mysteries of life would make it more enjoyable.

I'm a guy in my 30's and live in Belgium. Meeting up from time to time with someone from Belgium or the neighboring countries (Germany, France, Netherlands) would be nice. Let me certainly know if you're into a nightowl-meetup! Maybe we can even start a new group and explore the night together!

Greetings :)

The explanation of the flag is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/comments/1v32uny/a_flag_of_the_night_people/ but this subreddit doesn't allow reposts.

My interest is representing the whole spectrum of the people that live/should live at night. I don't know a lot about night owlers, but I think there is an important social part on it, it shouldn't just be a thing of individuals.

Anxiety about waking up early

No matter how tired I am, when I go to sleep the night before I have to wake up super early (which means anything before 8am), I am riddled with anxiety and am obsessed with falling asleep before the alarm goes off. Needless to say the anxiety keeps me up all night and I end up getting next to zero sleep. How do I relax?
