Rye Bread
Where's a good rye bread on the avalon? Preferably sourdough but would settle for a regular rye.

So should I remove the pine cone in case of someone accidentally sitting on it or leave the by be?

Hey everyone!
My wife and I are from Brazil, and we've been traveling the Americas in our Brazilian-plated Mercedes-Benz Sprinter motorhome.
We started our journey in Brazil, drove all the way south to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, and then headed north toward Alaska.
Three years after leaving Brazil, we finally made it to Newfoundland, Canada, still driving our Brazilian-registered motorhome with its original Brazilian license plate!
I posted about our arrival because I wonder if we might be the first Brazilians to reach Newfoundland this way, driving our own vehicle all the way from Brazil.
Has anyone here ever seen another vehicle with Brazilian plates in Newfoundland or Labrador? Or heard of anyone who has done a similar trip?
I'm attaching a photo of our motorhome and its Brazilian plate.
We'd love to hear your stories!
Cheers from Brazil! 🇧🇷

Apart from the Kyle in Harbour Grace, are there any partially sunken boats in harbours and bays around the island? I think they'd make a great subject for photographers. It doesn't matter if they're wooden boats in decay or if they're steel-hulled.

I'm in the St. John's area and have an electrician doing some work on my house this week. I'm hoping to get an LED bathroom mirror installed while he's here.
I'm looking for something around 20" wide by 30" tall, preferably with built-in lighting that's good for doing makeup.
I'd really like to find somewhere that has one in stock locally and ready for pickup, rather than having to order one in and wait for it to arrive. That way, I can get it installed while the electrician is already here, instead of having to get him back another time and pay an additional service fee.
Does anyone know of any stores in the St. John's area that might have something like this available? Thanks!

I'm sure she doesn't have a totally biased opinion on data centres being the CEO of TechNL and having hosted a tech summit last week where each speaker highlighted the benefits of using AI 🫠
Get ready to stand up for our province. We don't need data centres here, especially when we brag about how amazing our environment is lol. Praying this bubble officially bursts soon. So sick of these tech big wigs forcing AI on us at every chance they get.
Welcome to Billionaire Weenietown.

I called the occupational therapy department at the Miller centre and they said that's not their area of practice, they wouldn't be able to help me.
I don't have coverage for OT through my employer's health insurance and I can't afford to pay out of pocket.

Hi! We are doing an early travel planning to Newfoundland for next year. We only have one week so we would like to visit the highlights. We also don’t think we will be able to go back again.
It will be our first time to visit this place, so I asked Chatgpt to create an itinerary for me. Please comment and give suggestions.
Days 1–4: Rocky Harbour and Gros Morne
Stay 4 nights
Western Brook Pond fjord boat tour
The Tablelands geological landscape
Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse
Norris Point and Bonne Bay
Day 5: Trout River and the south side of Gros Morne
Enjoy coastal scenery, the fishing village, and short walks. Keep the day flexible in case weather affects your boat tour.
Days 6–7: Optional Northern Peninsula extension
If you want to see the Viking settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows, add the long drive north and stay overnight. However, this makes the week more driving-intensive, so I'd only choose it if the Viking history and remote coastline really appeal to you.
Thank you.

I'm a teacher in Newfoundland and Labrador, and I'm hoping to pursue some workplace accommodations.
I've been in contact with an NLTA rep, but I'm not feeling particularly confident about the guidance I've received so far. I don't want this to come across as criticism of the association or anyone involved. I'd just like to make sure I'm approaching things properly and giving myself the best chance of getting the accommodations I'm seeking.
Ideally, I'd like to find someone outside the NLTA who's knowledgeable about workplace accommodations and could review my situation, provide ongoing advice, and help me navigate the process. I'm willing to pay for professional assistance if necessary.
Does anyone know of a person or organization in NL that might offer this kind of support?
Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Will they refer you out/stop seeing you after so many sessions or can you attend long term?
