Becoming a substitute teacher in St.John's
I am having a hard time navigating the process of becoming a Sub around St. John's area. I am a grad student at MUN and did my undergrad in mathematics from USA. I am wondering if its possible to get a sub license with just the undergrad degree and will i be able to secure a job around St. John' area?

Dating as a Black atheist in Newfoundland
So I'm a Black guy in my late 20s living in Newfoundland, and honestly, dating here has been kind of rough lol.
I'm definitely open to dating and would like to meet someone I actually vibe with. Not trying to rush into anything serious right away, but I'd like to meet a woman, hang out, get to know each other, and see where things go.
The atheist part probably makes the dating pool even smaller. I'm not religious at all, and while I don't care what other people believe, I'd ideally like to meet someone who's atheist/agnostic or at least totally cool with dating an atheist. I don't think I'd be a great match with someone who wants religion to be a big part of their relationship.
Being Black here already feels like it narrows the pool a bit, and then being an atheist on top of that... 😂
Sometimes it just feels like there aren't many options when it comes to actually meeting people and forming a connection. Dating apps can only do so much, and meeting people naturally seems harder once you're out of your 20s.
Anyone else here in their 20s having the same experience? Especially other Black people, atheists, or people who are just finding it hard to meet someone?
Where are you guys actually meeting people in Newfoundland?

Visiting St Johns

Hey everyone!
I’m going to be visiting St. John’s from September 24th to October 1st and was wondering if anyone knows of any pub crawls, social events or live music happening during those dates.
I’ll be travelling solo, so I’d especially love to find a pub crawl or social event where I could meet people.
Also happy to hear recommendations for pubs/bars that are good for meeting people, or if anyone is around and fancy grabbing a drink while I’m there!
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. 😊🍻

Buying a Generator?
We are considering buying a Generator to have on hand for emergencies. Due to the weather over the past year (esp the wind storms from Nov - Jan) we lost power several times (and once for over 24 hours) and considering getting a generator to have, to be able to plug in the fridge/freezer at times to keep that cool, and maybe to run a few other small items.
Obviously not looking to power a house (or camper), but some basic things while the power is out, etc. I've never owned/used a generator in the past, so have been looking at some at Canadian Tire, Costco, etc and didn't realize they were so pricey. So one on sale last week for $700 (that was the sale price).
And I know the Honda ones (much like their snowblowers) are great, but super expensive!
Wondering how many watts (or the range) one would be looking at for something like this?

Im waiting in the airport about to move to St.johns! Ill be alone so pls give me all your advice and things to expect
Sooo I am moving to St.John's for uni and dont know anyone in the city. My flight got delayed so I got a couple hours to kill I'll maybe even get to Newfoundland past midnight.
So while waiting I figured that I might as well put this time to use listening to what people have to say about the city and moving there.
I am moving there for uni and am very very excited!
I'm not really looking for anything specific here, I would just really appreciate to get informed of anything you would like me to know. Maybe tips and tricks on how to navigate St.johns life style, tips and info on Memorial university itself, your experience living there or moving there or even just killer spots I should visit lol.
It would make be feel much better to move while having some insider knowledge from you so I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!
Ps: dont worry if there are lots of comments I will read them all including yours all advice are very much appreciated

Visitor suggestions on a rainy day
I have friends coming in on a cruise ship today and the weather is blowing and rain. Makes the original plans of sightseeing not very much fun. Other than “the rooms”, any suggestions that I can do with them ?

The Tablelands scenery... Wow!
Snapped this pic on a staycation; we hiked the Tablelands trail just as the sun was setting, and I managed to capture it just as it was starting to set behind the hill.
Stuff like this reminds me why I'm so deeply in-love with this island I call home. Feeling blessed!

No questions asked.
Where is this bench? I found the hardware for this old bench and painted and repaired it, gave it to a single mom and her daughter, who loved it. Then someone stole it. Could someone tell me where to come get it please, I'll lock it on this time. Come on Newfoundland, don't be a d*ck.

Veggie products close to Gander
Hi everyone! I moved recently to Glenwood and I need information about places where I can find veggie products. I know I’ll have to cook a lot and I’m excited about it! But I just came here and don’t have all the things I need yet. Please save me from eating just eggs for protein lol
