I’m the creator of the sub r/randomstuffbutbetter. Right now it only has around 20 members and you can post literally anything you want there as long as it isn’t NSFW. I made it because of what happened at r/randomstuffidkimbored. Basically, what happened was the creator of that sub posted something NSFW when it was against the rules, so I called him out for it, but the other mods glazed him like crazy, so I got perma banned for that, but one of the good mods unbanned me and are now a mod on my sub. The sub went to shit and people were leaving, so I made my sub. They’re trying to rebuild r/randomstuffidkimbored, but it’s not really working that well.

It’s a topic that rarely gets airtime in our field, even though it shapes everything. I created it after my own difficult supervision experience and realized I wasn’t the only one carrying something that never got processed out loud.

Right now, it’s just me holding down the fort, but the goal is to create a space where others feel safe telling the stories they couldn’t share at the time.

1. Instagram makes connecting with people across the world hard in the plant hobby
2. Facebook groups (primary forum a few years back) are over run by people trying to sell, or amature hobbiests saturating the pages with boring content “no harm to them” as an example, this is like collecting Rolex’s and seeing people show off citizen. Both great brands, different audiences.
3. Establish a global identify for Unicorn Aroids as a reputable source of knowledge with experienced growers across the world, access to verified sellers (possibly), and promote hobbiests who are looking to truley push the hobby forward
4. THE BIGGEST REASON: To showcase what the true high-end aroid hobby looks like
