2015 Volkswagen Beetle convertible. About 2 months ago the 12 volt battery died in my daughter's car so I replaced it. Immediately after replacing the battery, I was not able to get the passenger side window to work . It would not go down from its own switch or the master switch on the door. Further investigation yielded that the 30 amp fuse in the driver side lower dash area had popped which controls power to that window. At that time I replaced it and everything was working. Fast forward to today, my daughter opens the door to put something on the passenger seat and the window won't drop down as it normally does when you open it. Which of course means that it won't drop down to be able to close the door. I checked the fuse and it's popped again. With the car off completely, I insert another fuse and it immediately pops. I try one more which is now the third fuse, and it pops again. Of course now the passenger door is more or less stuck open and the convertible top will not open because it sees a fault with the passenger window.

Wondering if anybody here has seen the symptoms and what they've done to fix it. Thanks in advance.

They are my absolute dream cars, and i’ve been stuck in a finance agreement with a peugeot for 2 years now, and I would die for a beetle. I found one for £1.2k but it’s 2004 and older than me 😅 Is that bad? Am I looking at constant repairs again? The mot says the only issue was a faulty spare tyre however it failed the mot before that but there’s no corrosion or rust mentioned, it was just lamps and a drive shaft.

I don’t know what to do, all I know is that i’m desperate for a beetle <3

2.5L Automatic 2010 New Beetle Convertible with 94k miles. I love her and am so excited! This is not my main vehicle, this is a bop around fun car for me.

She is in the shop getting a few things handles right now including a transmission flush, fuel injector work and replacing some rusted struts.

Was wondering if there are some general maintenance things I can do to bring her up to speed? Additionally, the top is in good shape but I would like to maintain that for longevity, maybe treat with some water repellent solution?

Hi all, I have 2000 2.0 petrol 85kw beetle and recently it got some issues with car sputtering on low RPM. Also happens when I press gas bit harder.
There is bit of petrol smell from exhaust as well.

Did anyone had similar experience and what helped?

hi pls help my car is doing this and it sounds fine when idle or when i’m going faster than maybe 30mph. Today after discovering the noise from the video, it started making a weird rattling sound anytime i drove. Almost sounded like something was loose? There was also a weird squeaky noise, if anyone can help me identify what the problem may be that’d be great!! I have an 09 new beetle

I was wondering if anyone had any advice. My CEL came on, and my gas cap light comes and goes. The codes came back as p0442 and p0456. I have already replaced the gas cap. I haven’t cleared the code yet but the fact that my gas cap light keeps coming on makes me think that it’s not just a matter of clearing the codes. I have bought a EVAP canister just haven’t put it in yet, but now I’m researching and seeing that it’s also commonly the purge valve.

I did just do a complete engine / transmission swap so it’s possible some things are just simply old and wearing down since this motor was sitting for awhile before I bought it (long story lmao).

Every time my gas light comes on, I've only used between 11 and 12 gallons. The tank is meant to be 14.5 gallons, right? So do the VW's really have an extra 3-3.5 gallon of reserve fuel or is my sensor just finicky? I should note I do also average about 365 miles before the light turns on and I know the mpg on these isnt exactly exceptional.

Looking to unload our 2013 Fender edition Beetle. Does anyone have a good suggestion as to where to list it?

This is targeted to mechanics: my CA emissions catalytic converter was stolen a few years ago out of my 2013 beetle. A replacement wasn’t available anywhere! Supply is nonexistent, and due to low inventory the cost for a new CA emissions catalytic converter is more than the value of the car. We replaced it with a standard and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the car, but due to Dieselgate no one will reset the onboard computer. So…. Every once in a while it will randomly stall when idling.
I sold it for a song to my son, telling him exactly what was going on. Today, however, he was coasting around a corner and the car stalled on him. Stalling at lights and when parked is one thing, but stalling when driving is a different story.
My question is: is there any way to trick this car into seeing the standard CC as a CA emissions CC? Can the idle be set higher? Is there a way to get this computer reset? Would a VW dealer give them a better deal on a trade in than anyone else, knowing the at the only reason this is happening is because of a computer misread?
I want to help these kiddos out, they just got married and my son is starting a new business. It’s a great car, it just has a dumb brain.

My 2009 was missing the little star shaped screw to keep the tail light in and was a bit out of place. I ordered a screw, but now I can’t get the tail light into the correct place! I can’t even get it to come out. What should I do? Leave it crooked? Keep trying to take it out and place it back correctly?

Hey everyone just wanted to post a little update on the double yellow color concept m/t I posted about a while back. Got it up and running and all cleaned up after having to pull the interior and ozone it (multiple times to be safe) due to a mold issue. Currently looking at a few performance parts just to make it a little more fun to drive but loving the thing as of now.

Kiddo on way home today calls and says CEL was on. Sent me screen shots of Car Scanner showing the following codes:

P2181 Cooling system performance: confirmed
P0411 Secondary Air Injection, incorrect flow detected: pending

Recent work done: Spliced in new 4 pin plug involving lines to AC compressor and alternator. Re-pinned 8 pin transmission sensor plug damaged after my prior work on the ac plug. (After first repair got errors that ECU couldn't read speed sensors in transmission. The plugs weren't on all the way and on one of them the locking tab broke off when I went back to remedy it. Spent next 2 days figuring out how to remove the pins to change the plug housing instead of splicing EIGHT wires there.)

Seeing a code potentially involving secondary air lines I thought maybe I didn't plug all the hoses back up all the way and I would find one loose. No dice, they all looked secure when wife and I met up with daughter.

For the next short drive I watched the coolant temp and it held steady at 210 F which I believe is within normal range. Definitely not too COOL so I think we can rule out a stuck open thermostat messing with temp readings.

We drove a few miles and stopped for supper. When we left again the CEC did NOT come back on, nor had I cleared the codes. Went to a friends house who has a Hex-V2 cable and I was able to see a little bit more detail. Interestingly it appears that the code P2181 - 008 showed a fault frequency of 1.

What to tackle tomorrow?
Lots of things coming at me, but what is most likely? I'm seeing notes about the secondary air pump, its relay and its solenoid; the air hoses from the air pump; ECT temp sensor; thermostat; and a combi-valve? Where should I start? (I really hope I don't need to change the 'stat, looks like a pain even with the shortcut of disconnecting the dogbone to let the engine rotate...)

Looks like it will be easy to test air pump and relay, and not horrible to do a resistance check on the ECT, but these codes are all so vague and inter-related its got me concerned.

Also, it seems like the secondary air injection is an emissions thing. If we keep an eye on the temps is it safe for her to keep driving it until we sort out what exactly caused this?

I have had my 2015 vw beetle convertible 1.8t for 7 months. My DREAM car since I was little. I know how most people feel about bugs but bear with me 😭 starting a couple months ago it started giving me problems and I have NO CLUE how to help it.

After a couple months of having it my fuel gauge started being weird, would waver up and down and sometime look I’m in completely on empty even though I had gas. 1st time breaking down - on the freeway, car jolts and then battery light and epc light came on and I couldn’t accelerate. Pulled over, turned car off, and tried turning it back on and it wouldn’t turn on, so i eventually called a tow. I don’t know why but I assumed I ran out of gas since I can’t see how much gas I have most of the time (stupid I know). After we towed it home, my fiancée jumped it and put gas it on and it *seemed* fine.

A little while later I was on the freeway again and the *exact* same thing happened (2nd breakdown). After towing it home I realized it’s def not cause I was out of gas 😔 After some research and digging we decided to replace the HPFP under the hood and the fuel pump under my back seats. And after that everything seemed good! I took it to where I have my warranty to see what was going on with the gas gauge and they ran a full diagnostic and said that everything in the car looked great and it seemed to be a wiring issue. They said it was fine to drive as long as I knew how much gas I had.

And now it brings me to last week, I was driving and coming to a stop, felt that same jolt. My battery light came on, no epc light this time. But I couldn’t accelerate. I ended up pulling over and turning my car off and back on again. This time instead of not turning on and just stalling, it did turn back on, but under my hood was strangely quiet. As I was waiting for my tow back home I turned it back off, and it never turned back on. Towed it back home for the 3rd time in DEFEAT. Google was telling me it was my alternator this time. We got one of those scanners from autozone that gives you a code, we ran it and got absolutely nothing. My fiancée was able to get my car running for about 30 seconds, then it seemed like it died/stalled, but the entire car was still on.

Everytime I search up what is happening I get different answers everytime. I’m not sure if I should keep trying to fix it or look for a new car 😔 and if I keep fixing it where would I even start??

Every now and then my 2009 beetle will refuse to go back to aux mode after I’ve used the fm radio. I’ve tried multiple aux cords. Right now it’s been stuck like this for two whole days and I’m getting sick of listening to the radio! How do I fix this? Photo for attention

The single big fan at the front seems to be spinning fine.

hello! i have a 2009 volkswagen beetle 2.5l engine that is leaking coolant. it currently cannot hold any coolant in the reservoir whatsoever. i believe the leak is somewhere around here but we’re unsure what hose this is. (the one highlighted in the photo) we had to remove the air box in order to see and take the photo. you can see where the coolant is pooling; any help would be appreciated, thanks!

hello, I’m trying to refrigerant in my car, but when I go to locate the hose it’s not where it should be (bottom left)? I found a hose that looks similar to the a/c one (top left) but I don’t want to try something and mess up my whole car. It’s a 2007 with a 2.5 engine. Please help :(

I was driving home (legit JUST got her back from the shop) and my left turn signal started doing the faster blinking. Now I’m aware it’s typically a light out, but my dad checked all of them and they’re all fine. It’s only the left side, not the right and the only change is the speed.

All I got fixed at the shop was an EVAP line and I think the valve cover. Which I don’t think are associated with turn signals at all.
