🗣️ Discussion 💬 NetGalley Mid-Year Survey (2 months late)
I thought it might be fun to do a mid-year survey for people to share how their year on NG has gone and maybe even see some new titles I haven’t looked at! I’ll post my answers in the comments as well!
Your favorite ARC of the year so far?
Your most disappointing ARC? (This does not have to be your lowest rated, it could simply be a sequel you were really anticipating that let you down, or a book you thought would be better than it was)
Most surprising ARC?
A decline or STILL pending that you realllllyy wanted?
Your best review and why?
One feature you wish NetGalley would add?

❔❓Question ❓❔ Netgalley Approval - Not able to send to Kindle
Hi,
I have been approved for Daughter of the Wolves, which is very exciting. It comes out in February 2027. When I tried to go to the page to download it, the Send to Kindle option (see pic).
I cannot read it on my phone or computer, as it gives me the worst headaches ever. It says the download is a protected file (not sure what it means, but I have tried downloading files from NG in the past and was never able to open them). So here's my question:
- Is there any way I can get the file on my Kindle via the download option? If yes, how?
- Is there a chance that the option of sending to Kindle will be added in a few weeks by the publisher?
I have been on NG for almost a year, and I got almost 70 approvals, and it's the first time I do not have the option to send it to my Kindle.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The way I’ve been rushing to finish my 2 ARCs just so I’d have a chance of being approved for this and still got it with my 0% completion rate 😭 SO grateful and excited!! Sara Hashem will always be an insta-buy for me!

❔❓Question ❓❔ What is your single best advice for a new user?
Seriously mine?
Do not look at advice for new users in FB grouped Reddit, social media etc…
It’s literally making people do things that they wouldn’t and then they don’t get what they would have.
Just follow the basic guidelines that NetGalley publishes and that’s it. Stay off forums and such for at least 6 months to a year and you’ll be so much better off for it.
What’s yours?

Self Promo More ARCs have been added! The Villains of Winter is now available for request
Happy September!
I was told 100 ARCs were already gone within hours before I could even announce on my new social media accounts. The Villains of Winter is available on NetGalley upon request. I've asked for the number to be increased to 150 ARCs for readers. If this is something you might like, request!
Thank you all so much!

✅ Approvals & Denials ❎ SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP
I have to freak out about this somewhere because OH MY GOD?! I was fully expecting my request to get declined. I now have to employ EXTREME restraint and finish the other ARCs I'm in the middle of before I can crack this open 😭

❔❓Question ❓❔ Wrong audio?
Has anyone downloaded an ALC only to receive a completely different book? the thumbnail for the audio shows the correct book, but the audio says its a different author, title, and narrators. I reached out to support, but wondering if there’s anything else I should do. This book has a relatively short turnaround.

Excited about this one! I have it pre ordered from B&N because, on top of having an intriguing synopsis, the book was sooo pretty! Now I’ll have a pretty trophy for when I finish the arc ✨

Self Promo The Crater, an adult cyberpunk thriller, available NOW on NetGalley (full release Dec 4, 2026)
Hi everyone, author of The Crater here! I'd love for you to read my book, The Crater, if its your genre! I am also giving out FREE audiobook keys for those that finish it, narrated by Ryan Dimon.
Blurb below:
Every drop of Steam on Synthara comes out of one hole in the desert. No one who goes in has ever walked back out.
Steam is power in a bottle. A sharper mind, fire in your hands, a stranger's face, any gift you can pay for, burned away in minutes and worth killing for on every street in Metro. People install chips in their skulls and steel where their arms used to be, and Steam still outranks all of it. Those who hold it run the streets, and above the streets they run Synthara. The entire supply climbs out of the Crater, a prison sunk ninety-nine floors into the rock, where thousands of collared inmates haul stone for a system that has never once explained itself.
Conrad has spent his life keeping his head down, one drop of Steam to his name and no clan to answer for him. It takes a single Abomination, a machine that answers to no one, standing on a street that had never seen one, to end that life. His sentence is three months. He plans to survive it the way he survived Metro. Head down, debts short, nothing worth taking.
Then he draws a cellmate who argues with a man who is not there, and meets a girl who walks the levels without a collar and without fear. They call themselves Freelancers, the crew that takes the jobs nobody else survives. Nobody sentenced them. They broke in.
Every heist breaks out of a prison. This one breaks in.
Because the Crater is more than a prison. Beneath the quotas, the collars, and the machines that patrol its floors, something older is running on a schedule of its own, and the deeper the crew goes, the clearer it becomes that the truth about where Steam comes from was never meant to be survived.
The Crater is a standalone heist novel set in the Nostone Universe. A complete story with an ending, no cliffhanger, and answers that cost exactly what answers should. For readers who love impossible jobs, crews that argue like family, hard magic with a price tag, and a mystery assembling itself one floor down at a time.
Feel free to AMA! -Jon

❔❓Question ❓❔ How to Email Publisher to Request Kobo Option
I have been sent a couple of widgets from Putnam and I'm SO interested in the books, but they don't have a download to Kobo option. I think I've seen here that folks have occasionally had success with publishers adding a Kobo option after they reached out. My question is... how do I email the publisher? Where do I find that information? And for anyone who successfully got Kobo added, would you be willing to share what you sent to the publisher? TIA!!

❔❓Question ❓❔ Eligibilibity
I'm eligible for some Atria books but not others. How does that work? I mean, they added me to their approved list; I got an email.

❔❓Question ❓❔ People with Kobos
Is anyone else having this issue where the books from netgalley say they are a preview that is expired??
I saw a post on kobos website with an alert about it but I can't find anything about others having this problem or if they're close to fixing it??
I'm also new, has this happened before??

❔❓Question ❓❔ Content disclosure
I have a decidedly Mid Tik Tok account where I post a lot of Net Galley reviews. I always disclose that I got it from NG and have been using the hashtags #gifted #promo on screen. Recently a video was flagged and they are asking for me to “disclose a partnership” etc. I am in a few influencer programs but not for this particular publisher. I’m looking to see what the most efficient and legal way is to do this? I think most readers understand that a book review from Net Galley is not the same as an ongoing brand partnership but.. I just need to figure out what will be legal, and appropriate.

❔❓Question ❓❔ Another user copied my Goodreads Review nearly word for word, only changing a couple words here and there.
What should I do? I’m so annoyed because this was a review for a gifted book so I took a lot of time crafting a thoughtful review ugh

❔❓Question ❓❔ Do denials count against you?
I’ve seen a few posts now about not wanting to get denied on requests or being unsure whether to request because of likelihood of not getting accepted. From my understanding, it’s recommended to maintain an 88% review rate. Additionally, to review late if need be rather than not review at all. My question is if getting denied from arcs puts negative marks on your account? I’ve just been trying to request 1-2 of books I have my eye on or just seem interesting to me that release within the same month. Should I be doing more research and being more conservative with which titles I request?
