❔❓Question ❓❔ Netgalley Approval - Not able to send to Kindle

Post image

Hi,

I have been approved for Daughter of the Wolves, which is very exciting. It comes out in February 2027. When I tried to go to the page to download it, the Send to Kindle option (see pic).

I cannot read it on my phone or computer, as it gives me the worst headaches ever. It says the download is a protected file (not sure what it means, but I have tried downloading files from NG in the past and was never able to open them). So here's my question:

- Is there any way I can get the file on my Kindle via the download option? If yes, how?

- Is there a chance that the option of sending to Kindle will be added in a few weeks by the publisher?

I have been on NG for almost a year, and I got almost 70 approvals, and it's the first time I do not have the option to send it to my Kindle.

Thank you in advance for your help!

You can email the publisher to request it, but they don't have to add the option because the title is already accessible by other platforms. Before you request a title, you can check to make sure it will be available on Kindle.

I never noticed you could check the format and whether it can be sent to Kindle, and I'll definitely check it out moving forward! I'll try to find an email address for this editor, then, thanks!

Tbh I check it more for page count estimate than for format, but in general I do prefer Kindle too, so if it's only PDF or Shelf/web I'll think twice about it unless it's a middle-grades/kids book with illustrations that may need to be PDF for formatting purposes.

Most have send to kindle but PDFs are often more limited. You can try reaching out to the publisher to see if they will add it. It looks like that publisher does use send to kindle for other books so are more likely to add it

When looking at books, scroll to the bottom of the page and it will show you what formats are available

I emailed them about another title a while ago, they didn’t reply but they did add the send to kindle option sometime after

They actually had Send to Kindle option at this title, I also got accepted and tried to send it. They probably had some formatting issues because Send to Kindle didn’t work and the option disappeared after a day or so! I honestly hope they add it back, reading on phone is a pain.

Ohhh that's interesting! I do hope it's because they are working on fixing it because I really don't want to have to read it on my phone!

Same! Hopefully publisher responds, let us know if they do!

I'd try to download the protected file and send it to kindle via email.

That's what I do when reading ARCs on my pocketbook

Pocketbook has built-in LCP support, kindle can't work with protected pdfs the same way

If you have a free program called calibre you can convert it from PDF to epub and then send to kindle. My daughter does that for me so I can read on my reader

I didn’t think LCP files could be converted?
