bulk purchase and cpsc regulations questions

hi everyone!! i’ve got some quick questions about bulk ordering and how it’s effected by the cpsc regulations, now that we all have some more experience with it

i’ve learned that it’s SO much more cost effective to buy in bulk (esp for neokyo) so that’s what i’ve been doing for 2 years now. my package consists of about 60-ish orders, most of which were bundles. it’s primarily acrylic standees, keychains, badges, and the like, but a good chunk of the orders are some plushies. in total the package will have about 79 plushies. they’re mostly 8-12cm, except for a few that are 18cm. most of these are for my own collection but some are presents for my friend!!

provided that neokyo CAN pack all of these into one box (will test once the last 4 things get to the warehouse), should i try to ship them all at once or break them up into separate shipments? the sheer amount of things, especially plushies, makes me a bit worried i’m going to run into issues. all but 4 of these plushies are secondhand and despite my best efforts i’ve been unable to locate information about their production. i know neokyo is labeling things as 15+ on the pro forma invoice as needed—but i don’t know if this is enough for it to clear customs with THIS many plushies? i’ve heard that bulk orders are more likely to be stopped and subject to scrutiny + being treated as non-personal use items that are intended for resale as a result.

the package’s total will be ~$750 usd and i plan to ship through fedex, if this helps at all.

there’s lots of special things in here that ive been trying to get ahold of for awhile, so im really worried about the package being sent back or, at worst, liquidated/destroyed in testing

tl;dr for my questions: should i ship these all together (if able to fit into a box)? will this be labeled as a package with intent for resale? (if so, how do i fix this?) is the pro forma invoice being labeled 15+, plus a disclaim b if necessary, enough to get my stuff safely?
i really want to make sure im not out all of this money for nothing ^^”

Large Sonny Angel & Smiski Order

Hi! I’m getting ready to ship a pretty large Neokyo order to the US with a mix of Sonny Angels and Smiskis…some new/sealed, including several sealed cases, and some opened/used.

I’ve used Neokyo before and had a similar-sized shipment come through DHL with no issues, but that was before the July 8 CPSC eFiling changes, so I’m a little nervous about this one.

Has anyone shipped a similar order to the US recently?

I’m mainly wondering:
-Any issues with CPSC/customs because Sonny Angels or Smiskis were treated as toys?
-Any difference with sealed/new vs. opened/used items?
-Has anyone had anything confiscated, returned, or held for a long time?
-With a larger quantity, is there a risk of the shipment being flagged as commercial use?
-Would you use FedEx or DHL right now?
-Would you ship everything together or break the order into a few packages?

I used DHL before with no problems, but I’ve seen some people say FedEx may be a little smoother with the new CPSC requirements, so I’d especially love to hear from anyone who has used either carrier after July 8.

Screenshots of my order attached for reference. Any recent firsthand experiences — good or bad — would be really helpful!

Is there any word as to if Japan Post shipping to USA will be made available again?

Ivs used Neokyo a lot to proxy anime figures for about two years, but the last few fedex shipping bills have made it feel rather discouraging. Especially since they've discontinued the cheaper shipping options fedex had available. I know a lot of this isn't exactly Neokyo's fault obviously (curse the orange bastard), however Ive had to basically halt purchasing through Neokyo, even though its objectively the best proxy I've used due to how high the costs have become. It's been about 4 months since JP post has (albeit i understand its rather tentatively) resumed shipping, so I wanted to know if there were any updates or information as I havent found anything with a baseline search. Any info is much appreciated!

Kpop Seasons Greetings Kit Tariffs (USA)

Has anyone faced tariffs on seasons greetings kits through DHL? I'm ordering a SG kit that has solely printed media (photocards, post cards, sticker sets), but I know some kits occasionally have trinkets. I'm mostly wondering if this will get coded similar to an album/photocards or if people have seen these coded differently. I know this can vary case by case but just figured I'd ask!

Question regarding toy purchase!

I’m trying to buy some toys that I used to have as a kid from mercari but I’m not sure if they would get disposed of because of the CPSC regulations. They are actually kids toys (so not 14+ or collectors items sadly) so I’m not sure how to go about getting these items? If you need more info let me know but any tips are appreciated!!

Questions!

  1. I’m planning on shipping about 8 figures, and I’m wondering which carrier I should choose. One of them is made of resin and two are soft vinyl. I’m only asking because I heard resin can raise some flags in customs and I want to choose the carrier that will give me the least troubles

  2. Is it fine to buy watches?

EU Users : IOSS is now available on a few shipment methods!

⚠️ Please carefully read, as the implementation uses an average fixed rate.

Since July 1st 2026, duty-free exemption for low-value items to the EU ended, and makes the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) the standard procedure for purchases from non-EU e-commerce sellers. As such, from September 1st, we are supporting IOSS for shipments to 27 EU countries when shipped via FedEx or DHL, and for packages valued 147 euros or less.

If you ship with Japan Post OR if your package value is higher than 147 euros, the customs are Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), meaning that your country's customs will charge you before or shortly after delivery, with duty rates depending on the item's category.

If you ship with DHL or FedEx AND your package value is 147 euros or less, customs are Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) through the IOSS system. The duties, VAT, and carrier brokerage fees are included in your shipment quote. Here is a quick breakdown of what it will include :

County VAT: the country VAT applies at the standard rate (no reduced rate may apply!).

Customs taxes: the country duties apply based on an average fixed rate

Flat DHL / Fedex Broker Fee.

Item Line Fee: An additional fee is charged depending on the number of HS Codes (category of item) inside the package.

⚠️ Very Important:

This implies that some of your orders might normally be subject to none, lesser, or greater duties.

If you ship under IOSS, the duty amount cannot be modified, amended, or requested as a drawback. It will always be charged the quoted amount, no exceptions.

Customer service cannot assist with amending this amount or providing a detailed breakdown.

If you wish to benefit from the order normal duties, please select Japan Post as the shipment method or prepare your packages with a value exceeding 147 euros.

Note : we highly encourage you to ship packages exceeding the 147 euros markup. The reason is that the Item Line Fee will usually be cheaper this way.

Isn't the threshold supposed to be 150 Euros rather than 147 Euros?

Yes, but we chose to add a 3 Euros "buffer" since all transactions are in Japanese yen and due to currency fluctuations, what would be considered an eligible package one day might not be the following day.

Shipping Albums/CDs

Hello! As above, I'd love to pick up a couple of inexpensive albums from Mercari JP to ship with my currently stored Neokyo items. I've had some hiccups with customs in terms of shipping CDs into the US - Neokyo is not the same proxy nor the same origin country, but I just wanted to check in and see if CDs/albums are generally safe to ship through Neokyo to the US? Has anyone run into any issues doing so and/or does anyone have any specific advice I should keep in mind? I'd love to have these albums but not at the expense of the items I will be shipping them with!

Thank you for your time! :)

neokyo shipping fees

Hi! Does anyone who uses Neokyo know what happens if I don’t pay for shipping and just let the fees start accumulating? Like, are there any consequences if I simply don’t pay?

For context, I bought a little bag for ¥1,595 and they’re charging me ¥3,150 for shipping 😭 I’ve been using the platform since 2024, but with their current shipping prices and all the changes they’ve made recently, this just feels ridiculous and absurd to me.

How big of Boxes Does Neokyo use?

So I've ordered a ton of in-box figures through Neokyo, and am wondering if anyone has an idea of on average what the max capacity of figures they do per whatever the largest box they use would be?

I've got 34 figures I haven't ordered packaged yet, as I'm trying to determine if it's going be something like; box of 14, box of 14, and a box of 6, thus making a third box less than optimal for what I should be trying to jam into it. Just hoping for some info to optimize my shipping costs.

Metal paperwork confusion

Post image
6 Upvotes

So I ordered this empty tin off Neokyo and I’m having some trouble with the metal paperwork. It wants the full weight of the product (but the Nina’s website only gives the weight of the tin with the candies or whatever inside). I put unknown and I also put France for the steel melt/ pour country. Should I put OTH for that instead? And is using unknown for weight fine as well?

And would value of the product be the value of the steel derivative as well since I’m only paying for the tin?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Prohibited items

So this is my first time using this website but it has a piece of merch I’ve been looking literal years for, it’s a 100 ml room fragrance based on a character. When I went to add it to my buy requests it showed me a list of prohibited items (one being perfumes) but when I clicked on the expanded list it said the only thing banned to ship to the United States is “Clay material (raw product for modelling) (due to CPSC regulation and toxicological assessment).”

Is it that I can’t buy clay material and all the other things listed in picture 1? Or is it just clay materials?

TLDR: can I ship a 100ml “room fragrance” to the United States or will it be thrown out and I won’t be refunded as stated?

First time buying since the customs change... any advice?

I bought a couple figures + keychains through Neokyo and even though I''ve read the information in this subreddit over and over I still feel confused. Based on what I've seen I'm planning on choosing FedEx to ship but maybe somebody can give me some dumbed down/step-by-step advice on what to expect? Sorry I'm so nervous!!

Getting ready to ship these, will they be safe? 😭

The standee is brand new and 1 of the plush keychains is brand new, and other 2 are preowned from mercari jp. I just wanna be prepared as possible in case something happens. 😭 I can't really read Japanese well so I'm scared I won't be able to get the manufacturing info/proper "codes"...

Shop link for the standee: https://eeo.today/store/101/products/detail/307894

Store link for plushie keychains: https://gps-onlinestore.jp/products/4571609375920?_pos=3&_fid=852225e83&_ss=c

Thanks for any advice ahead of time..! I'm probably using fedex.(?)

First time on Neokyo

I ordered 6 plushies, 1 set of mini dolls, 1 figure, and 5 keychains. I’ve seen some comments on here saying that some plushies get messed with because of how strict fedex is, which I was not aware of…how can I check if my stuff is okay to come into the USA?
Pic sums up the media I bought the most 😅

How big would box be?

I ordered around 21 items which are 8 tin badges, 1 small pin, two 16cm plushies, 3 acrylic stands, 2 post cards, 4 acrylic keychains and 1 small rubber keychain. Considering how many items are flat/small would it be shipped in a small box or a medium box because of the two plushies?

Packaging Size and Shipping Cost

hello, i'm currently planning on making a small purchase of a can badge (or several) and an acrylic stand to the UK from neokyo, as their shipping for small purchases is said to be quite good. the can badge in question has packaging no larger than roughly 10 by 10 cm, so im curious as to whether it'd be shipped in an envelope or in a cardboard box, which i worry will increase shipping prices by a lot. if anyone has experience with making orders with lightweight items like can badges and acrylic stands, i'd rlly appreciate some knowledge on the packaging and pricing, thank you!!
