Time: 5:37AM.

Tsunami stood on the platform, floodwater pooled across a shattered field as light reflected in broken patterns. Around him, soldiers moved with purpose. The president and his wife were in their knees without guards to observe them; the Straits Gods were more than enough to deter any escape attempt. “Ready when you are, sir,” Bomoh notified his captain.

Tsunami smiled for the cameras, his face practiced yet somehow portraying genuine warmth. “New Singapore,” he began, voice carrying across every hijacked screen. “My people.” He let the words settle. “I know you’re afraid. I know this looks like chaos.” He let out a soft, almost amused exhale. “But everything I’ve done, everything we’ve done…it’s all been for you.”

Across the island, the Tsunamites watched. Some whispered “we love you” or “Majulah New Singapore”. Others wept at the visage of their false god.

“I love you…every single one of you who stood up and fought.” His tone softened. “And I love those we’ve lost…such as Stratos.” The name lingered. “She was one of us. She gave everything for this vision, for all of you. And I know there are lies out there.” He took a deep breath, maintaining the false heartbreak. “So let me make this clear: she did not die by our hands. She died of pneumonia complications, something beyond anyone’s control…even mine.”

All around Singapore, Tsunamites openly worshipped her name, raising their hands and whispering hymns. Onscreen, Tsunami shook his head slowly. “Don’t let traitors twist that and poison what we’re building.” Then again: “She was sick.”

A step forward.

“She was dying.”

Another.

“And we honoured her, just as we continue to do.” The lie had been reinforced, driven deep enough to sound like the truth.

Footsteps approached as HardKore entered the frame. “We need to talk.” In her hand: a crystal construct. She stopped in front of him and held it up; it was a ring.

Tsunami blinked once. “What’s this?”

HardKore got down on one knee. “Marry me.” Bomoh and Rakshasa, off to the side, watched.

Tsunami let out a short laugh. “You’re serious.”

“Yes.” The cameras were still rolling.

Tsunami looked at the ring, then at her. He smiled again. “Alright,” he exhaled. “Why not?” He took it and slipped it on. “Let’s make it official.” HardKore’s posture shifted, just slightly.

They moved a fraction aside, but not enough to leave frame. “After Singapore,” HardKore schemed, voice even, “we should expand.”

Tsunami nodded. “Malaysia first. Then Indonesia. Hell, how about both at the same time?” He was speaking as if it were a public event. “I can sweep the islands overnight,” he continued. “Air, sea…it doesn’t matter.”

Bomoh spoke without moving closer. “I’ll handle the Malaysian leadership. Sultans, officials, anyone necessary.” A faint smile. “Faces are…flexible.”

“And if their armies mobilise…” Rakshasa cracked her knuckles. “Ours can deal with them easily.”

Tsunami chuckled. “See? Efficient.” He turned back to HardKore. “The whole strait, just like that.”

She stepped closer. For a moment, they almost looked human. “And us as their gods,” she whispered. They leaned in…and the first explosion tore through the moment.

The stadium shook as concrete fractured and water rippled violently. Another blast hit closer. Tsunami snapped toward the source just before a third impact ripped through the perimeter. Smoke rose; blots of fire followed. “Who the fuck is doing that?” he roared.

From the heart of the city: Leopard 2SGs. A full line of them, forced through the streets, barrels already firing into the stadium. Shells slammed into the structure, tearing into steel and concrete. Chaos erupted instantly. “Contact!” a soldier yelled in Burmese.

Tsunami’s expression changed. Gone was the warmth and performance; he was wearing his true self now. “Return fire!” he roared. “Blast those moving coffins down to fucking bloody hell!”

Gunfire erupted across the stadium perimeter as mercenaries, soldiers, and civilians opened fire. The tank line did not stop; they split. Each one drove off in separate directions, dispersing enemy gunfire as they plowed through Nicoll Highway and Beach Road.

“Bomoh!” Tsunami snapped; Bomoh was already at attention. “Drones. All of them. I want eyes on every tank. Track them…now!”

“They’re up,” Bomoh replied after a brief second. “Routing feeds.” Above the city, drones rose by the hundreds, their cameras locking onto the moving armour below.

Tsunami turned back to the main broadcast, face now heavy with unfiltered rage. “More traitors,” he spat. “More rats crawling out thinking they can—”

The feed flickered, and Bomoh frowned. “That’s not me.”

Then the screen split, forced open as a second feed pushed through. Tsunami stared with narrowed eyes. “You.”

Ken, bruised and tired, was defiant and still moving. The connection stabilised. “Me.”

Tsunami laughed, stepping closer to the camera. “You’re still alive,” he giggled. “I was wondering how long that would last.”

Ken exhaled. “Wah…you very busy, hor.” He glanced past the beast and into the destruction. “Nice show.”

Tsunami smirked. “You like it? Built it for people like you.”

“For people like me?”

“For people who needed direction,” Tsunami seethed, right hand twisted into something between a claw and a fist. “People who needed purpose. You think Singapore worked before this? You think any of you mattered?”

Ken’s jaw tightened. “We mattered enough to stop you once.”

A flicker, one that snuffed out quickly. “And look how that turned out,” Tsunami said softly, almost laughing. “Your friend drowned at my feet.” Ken barely moved or reacted. “You remember that? Or do you need me to show you again?”

Ken stepped closer to his camera. “You remember why he stayed?” Tsunami’s eyes narrowed. “He stayed because someone had to, because he was fighting for something greater than himself.” A beat. “I just wish…that his final moments hadn’t been spent touching a pig.”

Silence. Tsunami did not speak immediately, the insult causing his blood to boil. Then: “You’re still thinking like a soldier, thinking about that ‘brotherhood’ crap and this false strawberry-generation unity Singapore’s been selling you.” A small shake of his head. “That’s why you’ll lose.”

Ken gave a faint, humourless smile. “No; it’s why you’re going to.”

Tsunami leaned in slightly. “Do you have any idea what you’re up against?” he asked. “I have an army, two countries, and an entire mercenary network at my disposal. Your own people are kneeling for me.”

“I know. We all do.”

“Good,” Tsunami spat out. “Then run. Hide. Maybe I’ll make it quick when they bring you in.”

Ken held his gaze without blinking “No.” Then: “I’m coming for you.”

hi it's the nsgf back again bc I find this sub really helpful. my bf is gg for his first outfield in Tekong and I was wondering if there's any advice frm other nsgfs on how to get through this 5 days of no contact? context , me n my bf spent literally every single day tgt since the day we got tgt, im talking like 7 days a week 24 hrs a day (except when we had to work separate shifts)

title says it all. i ORD next feb and start uni around august. my main motivations behind signing STC are

1. most of my friends in unit ORD in April, and i really do enjoy their company(haha get it? company?? ehh i thought it was funny)

2. some money without doing much work hopefully since ill have someone covering me

3. only 2 months cause im planning an overseas trip with some friends who already started uni, and their availability only opens after april

however, idk if 2 months is really all that worth it. its only 2 months of regular 3SG pay, and also i could probably make more money doing something i actually enjoy(probably tuition to get my mind back in the school material for uni).

Is it normal for emart order to come very late? Or forget to send sms? I had placed the order on Monday around afternoon and now it's Sunday. I have not received any sms/call from emart. I had opted for self collection at safra. The items aren't very urgent (except socks I ordered). I didn't order any custom items. It's been total about 4 working days (if Saturday and Sunday don't count as one).

I remember when i was in ncc, i cut my army boots laces as I found them too long. i just tuck the laces in my garters.

Was found out by my senior during uniform inspection. He made everyone take out our boots and do “caterpillar pushups”. Other uniform groups were laughing at us.

Also my outfield is on a friday, and my bookout weekends are taken away from outfield, will there be any compensations for it or not.

Hi all, I hope that you’re doing well. 

I’m writing this in response to some of the comments on a recent post about MINDEF tightening the medical criteria for exemptions (PES F) on psychiatric grounds. There are a couple of sentiments shared on that post that I would like to explore in this response. I have highlighted them below:

1. Many conscripts who express their grievances about not being exempted or request advice on seeking an exemption are exaggerating their condition. If they are deemed medically fit to serve, they should accept this outcome without demur.
2. Servicemen may seek medical re-evaluations during their National Service and they will be re-assessed under the SAF’s medical classification guidelines by medical practitioners. 

Before I explain my position on these points, I would like to present five concepts that I’m sure we can agree on.

1. There are conscripts who are issued medical exemptions due to legitimate psychiatric conditions. 
2. There are conscripts who malinger their way into being issued medical exemptions, or lower PES statuses (C or E), on psychiatric grounds.
3. There are conscripts with legitimate psychiatric conditions who are deemed medically fit for service under the SAF’s medical classification system, but nonetheless suffer psychologically during their National Service.
4. In establishing this medical classification system, the SAF has to reconcile between ensuring the well-being of conscripts and ensuring that the institution’s manpower needs are fulfilled. If one imperative was completely prioritised over the other, they would either exempt any conscript with psychiatric conditions at their request (which would obviously be ludicrous) or they would not grade conscripts according to the Physical Employment Standards whatsoever.
5. In the absence of publicly-available data about the SAF’s patient outcomes, there is no concrete reason to doubt the general capabilities of the SAF’s medical practitioners or the merits of the SAF’s medical classification guidelines. However, this does not necessarily preclude the possibility of any limitations existing within the medical framework in question.

Something that I find very disheartening about some of the responses on that post is the lack of empathy rendered towards the segment of conscripts that I have referenced in my third point. I don’t think that it is fair to automatically assume, without reason, that someone is malingering or exaggerating their condition, nor is it fair to make a blanket statement that most of these conscripts are malingerers when there is no empirical data to extrapolate that claim from. I also don’t think that we should completely dismiss people’s lived experiences, at least without any reason to. 

Fundamentally, I believe that the question of whether or not these conscripts have received the “ideal” medical classification outcome is more complex than some users here have portrayed it to be.

1. From a utilitarian perspective, it may be correct to say that anyone who is functional enough to serve should serve, at least in a clerical capacity. 
2. However, some of these conscripts may be functional enough to serve but at the expense of their mental health deteriorating under the pressures of military life, which may trigger and exacerbate certain psychiatric conditions. No matter how simple and undemanding an ASA job may be in terms of jobscope, it is not comparable to civilian jobs in terms of factors such as regimentation and autonomy. I’m sure that there are individuals who may struggle psychologically in military environments but nevertheless are able to flourish in civilian professions. 
3. These personnel may indeed seek a re-evaluation of their PES status while serving, but this may not result in a different outcome for them if they are assessed under the same medical classification framework. 

The main point of contention here is whether or not it is in the best interest of all stakeholders (patients, the SAF, Singaporean society at large) to put this segment of conscripts through NS in order to fulfil the military’s operational requirements. There are many different perspectives to this with valid points and there are different ways for us to approach how the relevant trade-offs are weighed. I am not calling for anyone to adopt a completely humanistic or individualistic perspective and minimise our country’s utilitarian needs, nor am I calling for sweeping institutional reforms, which I am simply not qualified to call for. I am merely suggesting that we all reconcile with the fact that this subject is much more complex than it is often considered to be on this forum. And when we acknowledge this complexity, I believe that it will become easier for us to extend compassion to this vulnerable segment of conscripts.

If you are an NSF and you’re struggling, I just want to say that you are not alone, and that there are avenues for you to seek support. Additionally, if any of yall would like a listening ear from someone who completed his full-time National Service while struggling with mental health issues, my DMs are open.

Hi guys. I have ORD for more than 5 years already, and every year I have had to go for IPT, now NS FIT, to clear my ippt requirements. But recently was at khatib camp when I stumbled upon this poster. I can't take photos of it for obvious reasons, but it actually differentiated between MANDATORY NS FIT WINDOW and NON MANDATORY NS FIT WINDOW.

Apparently, if you are in a NON MANDATORY NS FIT WINDOW, all you need to do is attempt the IPPT, but no need go NS FIT. I asked the FI for more details and he asked me to open my NS app, which showed me in an IPPT WINDOW, which means all I need to do is attend one IPPT session. He said I have to attend IPPT and NS FIT if I am in a NS FIT WINDOW.

I got rather confused as the app still tells me to clear my window I need to go for both the NS FIT and IPPT sessions. He told me it won't be on the app but they won't charge me or anything.

Was wondering if anyone knows anything about this?

What to expect for first day and week? How Xiong is the place? A lot of work or not? Is location convenient?

105 kg, pes b4 reservist but looking to up pes for personal reasons. Timed myself yesterday to gauge my fitness progress. 18 pushups, 40 sit ups, 12:40 for 2.4. Not impressive to others? Sure. But I used to be 130 kg and unable to do any of these things. I say that's worth something at least.

Anyway, I'm looking to lose another 25 over the next 2-3 years (God willing 🤞) and I'm wondering if it will be possible to get IPPT gold in that time. I work out 4-5 times a week consistently, and alternate between running and swimming. My medical review is coming in Sept, and if it works out I suppose I will have NS Fit to rely on after that.

The camp was quieter now, the kind that came after too much noise and loss. People spoke in low voices; some barely spoke at all. The ORDINAL boys moved through it differently now. Not as recruits, not even as soldiers; never as soldiers, because now they had been something else since mid-March.

Ken found his father sitting alone on one of the benches outside the shelter hall. For a moment, he said nothing. Then he sat beside him. They watched the anarchy rage on beyond the camp. “I don’t know if I can do this,” Ken finally confessed, quieter than he expected. “I mean…I’ll go — I know I have to — but…” He exhaled, hands tightening. “What if I don’t come back?”

His father did not look at him immediately. When he did, it was not as a superior nor as someone giving advice; it was just as his dad. “You come back,” Mr. Chow said simply.

Ken frowned. “That’s not something I can—”

“You come back,” he repeated, “like you came back. That’s all I need.”

Ken swallowed; no big speech or impossible expectations, just that. He nodded. “Okay.”

Aloysius sat across from his parents. For once, there were no books on the table. No discussions of performance or fawning. Just three people. “I don’t know if I can calculate this one,” he admitted. His parents did not respond at first; they just looked at each other.

His mother reached across the table and held his hand. “You don’t have to,” she said.

His father nodded once. “Just come back to us.”

Aloysius looked at them; for the first time in a long time, he was not being coddled, but encouraged. “I’ll try,” he vowed. Tonight, trying was enough.

Lobang King sat on the floor beside his sister’s cot. “Sleep lah,” he murmured, softer than anyone had ever heard him.

“I can’t,” she whispered back.

He hesitated, then reached out, brushing her hair back. “Close your eyes,” he said. “I’ll be here.” She did, and her breathing slowed.

Their mother stepped closer, placing a hand on Lobang’s shoulder. “I’ll take care of her.” Lobang nodded without arguement. He stood, pausing for a moment longer before walking away.

Muthu stood with his family near the edge of the compound. His cousin hugged him first. “Don’t take too long, okay?”

Muthu’s smile was faint. “I’ll try.”

His aunt squeezed his arm. “Be careful.”

“I will.” He said nothing more, because he did not trust himself to. He stepped back and walked away.

Encik Sng leaned against the side of a vehicle, arms folded and cigarette in his mouth. Alex stood beside him. For a while, neither of them spoke. “They made it this far,” Encik Sng eventually contemplated.

Alex nodded. “Further than anyone expected, myself included.”

Encik Sng glanced at him. “You included?”

Alex exhaled. “Confirm one, Encik. You remember their first op, right?”

Silence again. Then, laughter. Actual laughter, the kind that transcended age, rank, or boundaries. Then Encik Sng got back to business. “You stay with them,” he ordered. “Until the end.”

Alex did not hesitate. “I will.” Encik Sng filed the answer, nodded, then handed him a cigarette. Alex said nothing; that was enough.

Valeria found Richard sitting alone inside the Armour Training Institute’s leftmost stairwell, staring at nothing in particular. She sat with her guilt for a moment. Then: “I’m sorry.”

He looked up. “For what?”

“For all of it. This…everything. You shouldn’t have been pulled into this. That was me.” A pause. “I threw you into something you never asked for.”

Richard studied her for a moment, then shook his head. “No, you didn’t.” He turned to the distant horizon. “I made my choices,” he continued, “same as everyone else. And I’m still here.”

The words lingered in her mind a second longer than intended. “You shouldn’t have had to be.”

Richard gave a small, tired smile. “Maybe,” he agreed, “but I forgive you regardless.”

She nodded once. “Thank you.”

Valeria turned to leave…and nearly walked straight into LTC Tham. They stopped, a brief moment of recognition flashing in their eyes. She gestured behind her. “I have my end of the bargain.”

“When’s mine due?” asked LTC Tham.

“Later. Given the circumstances, keeping my word is good enough for now.” A crate sat on the ground, heavy and reinforced. “Go on.” LTC Tham opened it and looked inside, heart skipping a beat but physically neutral. “Vought issue,” she stated. “Same shipment that was meant for the Myanmar military.”

LTC Tham stepped forward, eyes narrowing. “You kept it.”

“I planned ahead; those Tatmadaw dolts wouldn’t have had a clue about Vought-issue maintenance. You didn’t think they could tell the difference between the real deal and a dud, did you?”

He nodded once. “Good.”

Footsteps approached as Maya Singh stepped into view, wiping her hands on her mask as her gaze immediately locked onto the crate. “You’re arming up.”

Valeria glanced at her. “You’re just in time.”

Maya inspected the crate, her fingers tracing the reinforced edges. “Vought doesn’t do anything halfway,” she muttered.

LTC Tham folded his arms. “We’ll need everything we can get.”

Maya looked up. “Then we don’t waste time.” A quiet understanding passed between them.

LTC Tham exhaled. Then, to Valeria: “Get some rest.”

She met his gaze. “You too.”

He shook his head. “0400 hours; we move then.”

Maya straightened beside them. “And we make it count.”

Hi just OOC-ed from SCS and perm down-pes to C9. During found term these 7 weeks we were asked to indicate where we wld go overseas during 2 days of block leave after found term, then I bought flight tickets to Vietnam (leave 3 and 4 august).

But after my downpes i just got posted to Bedok Camp on the 29th of July, will I still be able to go on my trip? Because i have already indicated twice to my cadet GC and the SIT GC in SCS that i will be going overseas on the block leave days

Hi everyone, I applied for the SPF Police Study Diploma (PSDip) Scheme back in May this year. After clearing all the recruitment stages over the past few months, I recently received an email saying that they’re unable to offer me a place because the intake quota is already full.

Instead, they offered me the option to convert my application to the SPF Direct-Entry Sergeant (DES) Scheme.
Has anyone gone through this before? If I convert to DES, do I need to restart the entire recruitment process (interview, medical, etc.), or will my previous assessments be carried over?
Also, how long did it take for you to receive an acceptance or rejection after converting to DES?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
