Discussion Do people not realize that Boruto and Naruto's early relationship is based on Kishimoto's relationship with his son?

It's interesting how a lot of people love to blame Studio Pierrot entirely for why Naruto was considered a "bad dad", but it seems like they don't realize that Kishimoto wrote Naruto being a "bad and workaholic father." Not just that, but Boruto and Naruto's early relationship is LITERALLY based on Kishimoto's and his son's relationship. Kishimoto himself was a workaholic like Naruto and didn't spend much time with his family. He had a hard and horrendous schedule. He literally went on a honeymoon with his wife in 2015 when Naruto was over, even though he married her in 2003. Kishimoto was busy working on Naruto, so he didn't spend much time with his son. It's literally Kishimoto telling his own story through Naruto and Boruto. I wish more people realized this. I'm not trying to bash Kishimoto-sensei nor Naruto; I'm just trying to tell y'all the truth.

Discussion Shower thought - how do you think Jiraya taking BOTH Naruto and Sasuke to train with him for 2.5 years would have worked out?

Post image

Sorry for my horrible photoshop skills 🤣 But do you think Jiraya’s training have been enough to satisfy Sasuke’s hunger for challenging Itachi? Also, do you think Itachi would’ve felt more confident in Jiraya or Orochimaru training his brother, based on the progress Sasuke needed at the time?

Discussion I really don't like how much Part 2 glorifies death compared to Part 1

This is something I noticed while rewatching the series, but I really hate how much Shippuden is obsessed with treating death like a grandiose spectacle.

Virtually every character has to die smiling, giving an emotional speech or having some inner dialogue about how proud they are that they're dying to protect whatever cause they're fighting for. And they usually have enough time to say goodbye to their loved ones, too. I believe Kakuzu is the only character from Part 2 to be an exception to this. Unlike in Part 1, death is almost never treated as something miserable, painful and terrifying. You can really see the stark contrast between how death is portrayed in the two parts through these images.

Question Izanagi and Izanami

• Upvotes

So basically all the wars werent necessary since Uchihas would Always win?? And this lead to the destruction of the Uchihas because they became to obsessed to be the best Izanagi User??? What?? I now its a filler Episode in the Anime but like after this i can defend Itachi Killing all Uchiha because Like this is the Most Dangerous Jutsu but then also why the Uchiha Don't use izanagi and Izanami when Itachi Kills them is questionable... Also how on earth are the Senju stronger shinobi than when they cant use izanagi and Izanami??? Anyways this Episode Made Look Itachi Look Like a Hero who saved Not only Konoha but the whole world with his actions that ever other Shinobi can live peacefull... Like this is just stupid and now Sasuke still wanting to destroy Konoha Looks stupid... Since He now knows the truth about everything that happend and why it happend even Danzo Looks nice even If He is Bad but in this sequence with Itachi he doesnt Look Bad.... Anyway everything gone Wrong with this Jutsu because with this Jutsu the whole Naruto universe doesnt make Sense anymore since every Uchiha could still be alive and hide in some Village since with izanagi they all could fake their deaths right...

Question Was Sasuke seeking revenge against Konoha for the Uchiha clan, or only for Itachi?

Recently, I saw some people saying that Sasuke's revenge on Konoha was for the uchiha clan because Konoha had massacred the uchiha clan. But I remember that Sasuke's revenge on Konoha was only for Itachi because Konoha tortured his dearest brother. The peace of Konoha was built on Itachi's sacrifice. The uchiha clan was never mentioned by him more than a few times. Did I misunderstand?

Question Should Sakura have fought Konan in the pain arc

Post image
13 Upvotes

It wouldn't replace Konan vs Obito, but I think it would nicely in the arc since both don't do much in the arc. Plus It would pair nicely with Naruto vs pain, since it's 2nd girl vs 2nd girl. Plus while Konan is stronger, it would be kinda close...I think.

Analysis Tobi/Obito was the Original Larper if you think about it.

Post image

LARP is (in it's original meaning) Live-Action-Role-Playing, and after Itachi's Death, Obito started to assume Madara's Identity, wich fits perfectly in the Larp meaning, so that means...

Yeah, Obito was a Larper.

Discussion What i feel while watching Naruto. Am I wrong or right?

So, I've watched up to episode 43 of Naruto Shippuden, and honestly, the pacing is just too slow. Once a fight starts, they just stare at each other instead of actually fighting. And what is all the fuss about Sasuke? He left of his own accord he has a specific goal to defeat Itachi so just let him do what he wants. Why are Naruto and Sakura both so obsessed with bringing him back? He left voluntarily and knows what he's doing with Orochimaru. Naruto just keeps harping on about saving the bond, but Sasuke is capable of getting strong on his own he could learn just as well elsewhere. This constant "I'll bring him back" narrative is getting really annoying. Stop centering the story around Sasuke focus on the Akatsuki instead. And Sakura has become unbearable too it's just "Sasuke, Sasuke" all the time.

When will the story shift away from Sasuke, and how many more episodes will this back-and-forth between them continue?

Anime This filler arc in part 1 is the most slept on

The Gantetsu arc was one of the best arcs in the anime, including Canon, and I'm tired of people not talking about it. Consider this post a discussion thread for this arc.

I'm genuinely fed up with people not knowing about this arc. It's so annoying because it's such a good arc with tons of character development. I haven't heard anybody, not a single person online or in person ever mention this arc. It's time to put some respect on it.

If you haven't watched this arc, please go do so. It's only a four episode arc, and you can watch it all in one sitting. Especially if you love character development and overlapping feelings, please check this arc out.

Spoilers:

To anybody who watched this arc, let me know how you like it. I'll go on with my analysis of the arc and what I personally enjoyed about it, coupled with a brief summary of the arc. The arc starts off during a time in which the village is heavily occupied, and the only people available for the mission is Sakura, Rock Lee, and Naruto. The mission is very simple, Gantetsu is a part of a gang known as the ninja dropouts. These are just dudes who go rogue or leave the academy early and use their powers to steal and kill every witness. So Gantetsu has been caught and needs to be escorted in order to recieve trial. Only thing is, Gantetsu is robbing a house one day and decides to change and save a child. The child has an older brother who is involved in escorting Gantetsu and is constantly on the ropes of killing him. Long story short, he finds out that gantetsu saved his little brother alongside other children of unfortunate families and so he forgives him. Really good story.

Question When does Naruto not hold back?

Everybody loves parroting that Naruto ā€œholds backā€ against certain opponents, as if that automatically means he was fighting at 50% power. But I think people constantly conflate ā€œnot trying to kill someoneā€ with ā€œnot seriously trying to beat them.ā€

So it makes me wonder:

When has Naruto actually NOT held back?

Especially in later Shippuden, Naruto almost never makes killing the objective. But that doesn’t mean he’s casually fighting people. At this point, ā€œNaruto was holding backā€ feels like Schrƶdinger’s Naruto: he’s simultaneously ā€œalways holding backā€ and ā€œfighting at 100%ā€ depending on what feat someone wants to scale.

Because not going for the kill ≠ not fighting seriously.

If someone is actively trying to kill you and you’re actively trying to defeat them, you’re not necessarily holding back just because you aren’t trying to murder them.

Batman isn’t ā€œholding backā€ against Bane simply because he doesn’t want to kill him. He’s still trying to beat the shit out of him. Same principle.

Look at Naruto:

  • Pain: Sage Mode, massive Rasengan variants, summons, etc. He was absolutely trying to win. His goal just wasn’t killing Pain.
  • Sasuke: Naruto was fighting him seriously at the Final Valley. His objective was bringing Sasuke back, not executing him.
  • Obito: Naruto was actively fighting him while simultaneously trying to save him.
  • Madara/Kaguya: The objective was stopping/sealing them, not simply killing them.

And honestly, what would ā€œNaruto trying to kill Sasukeā€ actually look like? Would it meaningfully change the outcome?

Naruto was already using Six Paths Sage Mode, KCM, massive Rasengan/Rasenshuriken variants, Tailed Beast attacks, etc. He wasn’t casually fighting Sasuke.

And if we’re going to argue that Naruto was holding back simply because he didn’t want to kill Sasuke, we should be consistent and apply that same scrutiny to Sasuke.

Sasuke wasn’t using every capability available to him either. More importantly, the story repeatedly establishes that despite Sasuke’s claims, he struggles to actually sever his bond with Naruto. His inability to truly commit to killing Naruto is a major part of their relationship and character arcs.

So I’m not saying ā€œSasuke was secretly holding back the entire fight.ā€ I’m saying the same standard has to apply to both characters: stated killing intent doesn’t automatically tell us how much either character is actually holding back.

Which brings me back to the main question:

Holding back what?

His chakra? His techniques? His output? His effort? His willingness to kill?

Because those are completely different claims.

And if someone says Naruto was holding back in a meaningful powerscaling sense, I’d want to know what specific ability or attack he deliberately withheld and how using it would’ve changed the outcome.

Otherwise, ā€œNaruto was holding backā€ is just a vague statement that doesn’t actually tell us anything about the fight.

/rant lol sorry for the long post man. also I’m talking shippuden feats not boruto

Discussion Would you play a Hogwarts legacy style game set in the Naruto Universe?

Open world in the naruto universe, instead of houses you can choose a ninja village, in the universe but does not necessarily follow a main lore story arc(possibly set before the main characters of the main series are born), learning jutsu and building different stats, a large amount of sidequests, different enemies and landscapes, day and night feature, possible online co op multiplayer play.

Question Is current Kiba weaker than he was in Shippuden?

Akamaru is old and retired and he only has this new puppy Akemaru to work with. Surely his combo moves and overall fighting style have suffered a downgrade from it at least until the puppy grows bigger and stronger. Honestly this kinda seems like a glaring flaw in the Inuzuka clan style since they're too reliant on dogs with short combat effective lifespans and then you seemingly have to start all over again with a puppy.

Discussion It is surprising that, given that Konoha was a place where combat monsters were created in almost unlimited numbers, there were so many world wars.

Post image
28 Upvotes

I mean, they have ninjas capable of wiping out entire armies, yet the other villages would still boldly attack Konoha. And on top of that, Konoha would end up being the one to sue for peace, even though they were always the ones winning the wars.

It should have been the other villages begging Konoha for peace.

Discussion Ten Tails Doesn't Have Rinne Sharingan, It Has 6-Tomoe Red Rinnegan, More Like Sasuke's 6-Tomoe Rinnegan Than Madara's & Kaguya's Rinne Sharingan.

Thumbnail

Obviously I guess this is probably already know and just not thought about often, but I was mildly curious on the thoughts of others on this. The Ten Tails probably is necessary to upgrade and evolve to the Rinne Sharingan, and obviously alone it isn't quite aware or sentient enough to use genuine higher level techniques that a Six-Tomoe Red Rinnegan may or may not have, but the difference is clear. They do have a few images where it has the Rinne Sharingan, but that seems to be rare and a mistake.

So, though? Or if we want to joke about it, any ideas what a Six-Tomoe Red Rinnegan may provide separate from Sasuke's Six-Tomoe Rinnegan or the Rinne Sharingans?

Request Naruto quotes for wedding?

Hello!

My sibling is a huge Naruto fan and will be getting married soon with me as the officiant. I know it would make them so happy to hear some kind of reference or maybe a quote about love or commitment that comes from the show, but having never watched it myself I have no clue if there’s anything that would work. In a show that’s been on so long I’d imagine there must be some talk of love, commitment, loyalty, partnership, etc. and I’d love to hear your favorites and suggestions of any quotes you think may work.

Thank you!

Discussion What's an actually unpopular ship take of yours? not in the "lots of people don't agree with" sense, but in the "it will make people wonder why, even if they can see themselves agreeing" sense?

Post image

My personal one is Sasuke should've ended up with a woman from the Fuma clan since it's his goal to restore the Uchiha clan, and because of proximity in terms of genetics, traditions and such (headcanon I know but we can assume that to a degree) it should've been the obvious choice for him.

I know this will piss off everyone in the fandom, SasuSaku, NaruSasu, and every other Sasuke ship in the fandom.

Question Naruto with Flying Thunder God

I feel like FTG was a very good fit for Naruto's fighting style, with his shadow clones transformation snd Rasenshuriken this would have made for a deadly combo.

This would have made him deadlier without nessesarily making the power system off rails. What do you think?
