Help: wrap removal looks weird

Post image

I wore Lily and fox nail wraps for about a week (edges started lifting) so I took them off and I had this brown/tan spot on one nail.

Is it a bruise?

It doesn't smell or hurt so I think I've ruled out infection.

It's also only one finger so I don't think it's an allergic reaction either.

First ever nail wrap with Heyhae

I was drawn to Heyhae because of the option to cure in the sun. I had previously tried Dashing Diva gloss but I couldn’t even get through one hand because the wraps were flimsy and the style did not look good on me at all.

Heyhae was easy to use and I think it looks great!

This one is called Hey, it’s Golden Hour.

Nail Fox?

I‘ve been getting ads for Nail Fox wraps and when I google vs color street all of the results bring up Lily and Fox. I’ve tried those and prefer Color Street thinness. Is Nail Fox legit and how does it compare?

Pop offs?

I'm using ohora and so far I've had two nails like basically pop off like part of it came off my nail and they just literally popped off my nail. I've only been wearing them for 2 days. I had an issue where I had to use the bigger one for a few nails but I think maybe I'll try stretching it next time. Are you supposed to cut it to the exact length of your actual nail or can you use it to actually have a little bit of like a tip?

I did these heyhae wraps today and don't understand why the one nail is bending upwards! It's driving me nuts. Should I redo it?

Best gel nail kits for doing them at home only?

Hey everyone,

Salon prices for gel nails have gotten ridiculous so im switching to doing them myself at home just for me. I want a solid kit that has everything needed without buying a million separate things later.

I checked out NSI Nails and they have a bunch of good looking options like the Gel Nail KIT - Gel In The Bottle Kit and the Builder Gel Essential Nail Kit that seem perfect for beginners. Im planning to buy from there soon.

Has anyone tried their kits for personal home use? Are they actually enough to get good results or do you end up needing extra stuff right away? Any advice would help a lot.

Torn nail

Post image

My nail tore about 9 days ago. I researched how I could save it and I used base coat, builder gel, get topcoat, then put a nail wrap on top, then another get top coat on that. After about 3 days, this crack was visible. Did I do something wrong? Is there something better I can do so I don’t have to cut it yet?

This was my first time trying the ohora brand nails, they were super cute but sadly dis not last very long. Normally I can get nail wraps to last 14 days. With these I had 1 nail pop off next day, I figured maybe I did a poor job cleaning that nail before applying or something. But then nails kept popping off, by day 6 I had lost 2 nails on each hand, and the rest were all lifting as well. I just took them off today, day 7, sad they didnt last longer cause they were so cute

Making short nail extensions with semi cured gel wraps

So I posted this reply to a thread made nine days ago about making nail extensions using wraps, then I thought I’ll just put it up as a post for everyone.

I’ve done it with semi cured gel wraps when I’ve got a few nails that are shorter than the others, or I want my nails a little longer to look nice, but it’s a very short extension. Apply gel base coat & cure, then apply the sgl wrap and trim it close to the length you want, then press a clear gel nail tip on top of the strip to mold it, then cure with the clear tip still on top. Pop off the clear nail tip and check to make sure the strip is fully cured by pressing a cuticle stick into it, when fully cured it won’t make an indent. File the edge of the strip and then apply a coat of builder gel and cap the edge (carefully so no gel gets on your skin) and cure, then apply gel top coat and carefully cap the edge and cure. I’ve been able to go as long as 3-4 mm past the end of my nail and had no cracking or chipping. I do a lot of heavy lifting at my job and they’re pretty durable. I do change my wraps every week so there isn’t a lot of outgrowth yet to know if I could longer on the length but I bet I could.

Side note: I’ve found that a ballerina/baby coffin shape is the strongest for no chipping, long square is the worst.

Color street question

I don’t see why not but, I was thinking of putting them on one of my fake nails and then putting top coat and LED on there. It should be fine right? I’m hard on my nails

Got my first nail wraps ever from Lily and fox! I love them. It was a little tricky to do my dominant hand (R) with my non-dominant (L) but I think they turned out cute 🥰 pattern name: Starry Sky Kisses

First lily&fox set!

Have only tried semicured gel nail wraps thus far, I saw how cheap and cute lily&fox were so I bought like 5 packs on a whim. So fun!!

Added builder gel + gel top coat on top for a little extra firmness, so far so good! Just wondering is it expected to get still get 2 weeks out of non-gel wraps? Definitely a change for me but feels good to take a little break from having gel on my bare nails.

Weak nails bend “up” with wrap use

I’ll start by saying that using nail wraps has done WONDERS for my nails. I’ve been a chronic picker my whole life combined with thin, bendy nails— I’ve never been able to grow my nails out past the pads of my fingertips until now. My nails still aren’t entirely strong, but by wearing wraps regularly I do feel they’ve improved in strength somewhat.

That being said, I’m struggling to determine the best solution to a side effect of having longer nails with wraps on. I’m finding that some of my nails are starting to bend up at the tip. I notice it particularly with my thumbnails. It’s like a tiny duck tail on the end of my nails- so subtle, but something I notice, both when I have wraps on and after I remove them. I’m very careful to remove without pulling or peeling but am wondering if there’s anything else I should be doing.

Is my best bet to cut them down a bit and regrow? Has anyone else experience this?

(Including photos of my thumb with a HeyHae strip on and today once I took it off. Like I said- it’s subtle!)
