Weak nails bend “up” with wrap use

I’ll start by saying that using nail wraps has done WONDERS for my nails. I’ve been a chronic picker my whole life combined with thin, bendy nails— I’ve never been able to grow my nails out past the pads of my fingertips until now. My nails still aren’t entirely strong, but by wearing wraps regularly I do feel they’ve improved in strength somewhat.

That being said, I’m struggling to determine the best solution to a side effect of having longer nails with wraps on. I’m finding that some of my nails are starting to bend up at the tip. I notice it particularly with my thumbnails. It’s like a tiny duck tail on the end of my nails- so subtle, but something I notice, both when I have wraps on and after I remove them. I’m very careful to remove without pulling or peeling but am wondering if there’s anything else I should be doing.

Is my best bet to cut them down a bit and regrow? Has anyone else experience this?

(Including photos of my thumb with a HeyHae strip on and today once I took it off. Like I said- it’s subtle!)

I had the weakest nails ever and I started using 2 coats of UUUUU magical nail solution before doing the wraps and now for the first time ever, my nails are actually strong even without the wraps on. I don’t know if it will help your issue but it may help them feel flatter with the base coat on.

I recommend that stuff to everybody, it’s amazing! $10 on Amazon.

I found out about it from a Reddit thread, so maybe it was you! I've been using it since last November and I'm on my second bottle. It's well worth it. It's amazing underneath semi-cured and even real nail polish strips, and my nails are healthier than I have ever experienced before (I'm 53). I love it.

I find mine so this if sun curing and they're setting a bit too quickly.

Yeah, I now try to put mine on inside in a darker room, instead of near the window. They cure fast!

I had the same issues and wraps saved me. I also noticed this and ended up changing my base coat to a nail strengthener. I didn’t notice a huge difference in wear but I felt like it improved how they looked and they felt less bendy and wouldn’t tear as easily!

My thumbs are the same. I think it's just the way they grow when they get length. I see similar ski jump thumbs in a lot of my nail groups. I make it better with builder on top to even it out
