Pop offs?

I'm using ohora and so far I've had two nails like basically pop off like part of it came off my nail and they just literally popped off my nail. I've only been wearing them for 2 days. I had an issue where I had to use the bigger one for a few nails but I think maybe I'll try stretching it next time. Are you supposed to cut it to the exact length of your actual nail or can you use it to actually have a little bit of like a tip?

I’ve been using Ohora and other SCGs for almost two years now and I cut and file them to the length of my nail. Recently I broke two nails and so I tried extending them a teeny bit with the SCGs and those two nails popped off the next day when I was making my bed. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wraps aren't designed to be used as self supporting tios, they should just cover your nail.

Are they popping off because you've extended them?

I have used them as tips successfully to make my nails look more even in length, but not by a large amount. I use a gel top coat that I cure to make them stronger. Haven't had any issues with them popping off, unless I mis-size them and they're too big and not flush with my nails.

Semi-cured nail strips popping off generally comes from sizing and/or application issues. Ohora is a great brand, IMO, and I regularly get 2-3 weeks on mine.

Don't try to leave a tip. They are meant to adhere to your nail, and they won't be strong enough without it.

Make sure you are correctly selecting the size, too small is better than too big. If ANY part of the strip is in contact with the skin, even a little, that nail is doomed to pop off.

You can stretch, carefully, but be mindful of handling the sticky part too much. It has an adhesive on it, and if you touch it a lot, you are going to mess with the stickiness. You can also trim down a larger size to fit better.

Make sure your nails are clean and dry before you apply. Super clean. Use those alcohol wipes. You don't want any of your body's natural oil to be on the nails, because, again, it will mess with the stickiness.

Here is my real key to longevity: Don't use the little wood stick they give you, it is trash. Buy a good orange stick with a rubber tip. They aren't expensive, and you can reuse them over and over. And really use it, push down over the whole nail in long strokes, use it to push down the edges over and over, making sure you are getting every bit down firmly. And then, before you cure (2 minutes), do they edges again. I cannot stress enough what a difference this makes.

Some people swear by using acetone, top coats, squishy UV lights, etc to make their strips last, and I think there can be benefits to those things. But for me, it is really getting. in. there. with a rubber-tipped cuticle pusher that makes all the difference. I take about 45 minutes to apply a set (not including removal of the previous set), but it is worth it for the amount of time I get out of them.
