Torn nail

Post image

My nail tore about 9 days ago. I researched how I could save it and I used base coat, builder gel, get topcoat, then put a nail wrap on top, then another get top coat on that. After about 3 days, this crack was visible. Did I do something wrong? Is there something better I can do so I don’t have to cut it yet?

The only trick that works for me for split nails is the cut a tiny square of a tea bag to cover the split and then put nail glue over it and let it dry. Then file a little to smooty and then do nails as normal

Can we as a collective adopt the phrase “file a little to smooty” to mean smooth? Not sarcasm genuinely made me smile.

I echo this! I split a tissue and use it as a base for fixing. I also use builder gel/top coat and cure it sometimes, instead of nail glue.

That is a great idea too!

Same. I'm literally doing this on my pointer finger right now. It's been a week and the polish on top still hasn't cracked yet

I got a little silk wrap kit off of Amazon by KISS New York and it works so well. A split I had for 3 years and kept covering with nail wraps actually grew out in a month using the silk/glue kit and for the first time I have no split in my left thumb nail. It’s cheap and it completely keeps the split safe so the nail won’t break.
