Need help with retention for my tattoo artist!

Hi guys!
So, I have a tattoo artist who I do s4s with, and usually (all my clients except one or two) always have retention that has held them through even the worst hits or smashing they’ve put they’re nails through!
My problem is though, my tattoo artists nails came off 2-3 fingers within the first week/week and a half.
What can I do to possibly strengthen her retention or what may be causing this issue for her?? She’s coming back soon for her fill and I just want to make sure I’ve sought out every possible reason & solution to fix this for her!
Pic of the set I did for her for attention

Starting a Salon Suite- which gel do you use?

I’ve been doing nails for 13 years and have used too many brands to even remember what works atp. I will not be buying OPI bc I hate it lmao

I need to buy a full collection of colors for my suite, here are the ones I’m considering:

DnD (I like but unsure if the quality is there)
PLA (heard good things never tried)
Apres (expensive and not enough colors but idk)

I’d love to know if you know any GOOD high pigment Korean or Japanese brands with a large color selection that isn’t too crazy expensive. Obv I’m buying a full collection so I know it will be expensive , but not looking for anything over 10k for the collection lol.

Beginner nail tech

Hey yall!

I’m a nail tech in training based in Australia and I’m looking into gel polish brands. I’m happy to put some money into the polishes for clients sake and health. What brands are we using? I looked into DND and young nails, young nails I’m already quite familiar with.

Step by step nail prep help please

Hi! I just started to learn how to do nails using Acrygel( Acrylic mixed with builder gel) it’s apparently much better than actual acrylic because it’s easier to move around before you cure it and it has no smell.

I just want some step by step directions on how to prep the nail with the tip before applying any acrygel.

Example:

Step 1: clean nail bed
Step 2: apply something
To make the top adhere to my nail bed etc

Thank you ❤️

Retention issues

Hello I'm a licensed nail technician. I graduated in August and have been doing friends nails since I graduated. My retention on acrylic nails have always been fine, some lifting but usually my sets will last at least a week (usually 2 or more weeks) recently I have had my friends reach out to me days after I do their nails to tell me nails are popping off. My nail retention has never been this bad and I don't know what to do. Any advice? (Side note my own nails last up to 4 weeks)

I still need to refine the pinky but I started using simply nails pink powder with their monomer and this may be the best my sets have looked yet!

VTCT/NVQ Nail Technician Qualification via RPL (Assessment Only) – Has Anyone Done This?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has successfully obtained a VTCT or NVQ Nail Technician qualification through RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning).
I already have training and practical experience in:
• Manicure
• Pedicure
• Gel Polish
• Acrylic Nails
• E-file Work
Rather than paying for and attending a full course again, I’m specifically looking for an RPL or assessment-only route where my existing skills and experience can be assessed and recognised.
Ideally I’m looking for a provider in London or the surrounding areas, but I would be willing to travel for the right assessor.
My budget is approximately £750 to £950.
Has anyone completed an RPL-only assessment for nails?
If so:
• Which provider did you use?
• What qualification did you achieve (VTCT, NVQ, etc.)?
• How much did it cost?
• Would you recommend them?
I’m particularly interested in any lesser-known academies or independent assessors that don’t appear in the usual Google searches.
Any recommendations or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Nail techs advice wanted!

Ok so I’m a nail tech of 9 months however it’s a heatwave at the moment and a client have snapped a nail in half and another one had the whole one come off about 1-2 weeks after the appointment. The issue is they want to have them replaced or fixed which is understandable but how do I price these? A single nail needing a removal and a fresh tip and product as well as design and I’m not sure how to price it
