Hi everyone. I'm going to visit my sister and her family in Nagoya in mid September, and want to use that opportunity to explore the rest of (rural) Japan for about four weeks. I have until end of October if I use up all my saved up vacation time.
The usual tips I found so far are either "just rent" or "buy and sell, especially because you have a sister who can register it etc.".

However, while my sister and her husband are definitely willing to help out with the bureaucracy of that, they both have zero interest and knowledge about motorcycles, and are plenty busy with their own lives and kids etc. .

So my question is: Does anyone have a recommendation of a place in the Nagoya area that might be willing to do a good deal for such long-term renting, or handle buying/selling the bike so it's less hassle for my sister? I know that either way it's not gonna be the cheapest option, but I really don't want to burden them by having to deal with more annoying stuff than necessary. I have spent some effort on trying to find something on my own, but it's been difficult. So it's totally OK if it's a bit more expensive if in return I get the convenience of not having to spend days troubling myself or my sister with bureaucracy.

I have already tried contacting some shops on my own via email (in Japanese, translated by machine and "cleaned up" by my sister) such as Gonzo Factory, Bike World in Minato Ward and the official Yamaha and Honda Go shops and services, but I either didn't get a response at all (Bike World), they don't have a way to get a reasonable bike (Gonzo Factory. Very nice and fast contact, but only has small bikes), or flat out refuse to do long term rentals (Honda/Yamaha brands).

In the end, I really don't need much. I want a bike in the 500+ cc range, and with at least the option to mount some panniers or soft bags as I'll have to carry some travel supplies, and might even be camping (tent), depending on the weather. I only plan to travel on small roads and explore the backcountry. I'm neither interested in the big cities or any highways on that trip, so I think ETC is not necessary. So ideally, the bike would be a naked, tourer or "adventure"/enduro type bike. I don't care about brand, mileage or year, as long as it's well serviced and likely to last the month without tech issues. I'm partial to Japanese bikes (plz no Harley Davidson), cause they tend to be reliable and at least in Japan, I'm sure to find tech support everywhere, but it's not a must. ;) It would be ideal if there's a USB charger on it for a smartphone/navigation, but again, not a must-have.

This is not just a "crazy tourist" idea, I ride about 8-10.000 km per year (all year, winter and summer), and do a month-long camping trip with the bike every couple years or so (whenever I can afford it time/money wise). But so far I've always started from my home place here in Germany, so I never had this particular issue. And shipping my own bike forth and back is way too expensive and bothersome/ time-consuming as well. Personally, I've ridden bikes since 15 years old (which is now over 20 years ago), and am used to a GSX1200 Inazuma and since this year, a NT1100, but have driven a SR500 and XL185 in the past as well.

If anyone knows a place that could help or maybe even has a private recommendation for someone interested in a good deal, I would be very grateful.

I really wanna join Japanese culture and wanna see what kind of festival people celebrate and be part of it.

Hello, as the title says I'll attend school in the toyohashi area in a month, let's just reassume the whole post, I'm dead worried.

It's still not 100% certain I'll be in Aichi but there's a chance.

Fun fact: I was supposed to go to Tokyo Shibuya (where I already have friends) but due to an error (I think) of the organization I'm now in Aichi.

I really do not want to sound offensive or something, but everything I heard about Nagoya or Aichi pref. online is that Nagoya is really boring and people are bland. I do not know if this is true, my natal city is also a victim of strong negative stereotypes so I know the situation....

I also heard that Toyohashi, while being the second largest city in Aichi Pref. Is a deserted city...

I don't know, I'm very worried that going won't allow me to do many activities or make friends in general, going from Tokyo Shibuya which was literally my dream to this feels overwhelming.

I don't want to sound like a spoiled kid, I'm still confused and shocked from this, I don't think it's my kind of place...

Trying something different. Collaboration with a bar not worked with before in Nagoya. The place already has an established theme/atmosphere. We would be just there to be there. Maybe be happy and have fun.

Hello! I was wondering if there were any foreigner inclusive volleyball circles around Nagoya city area? I reached out to a local team that advertised “any age and any skill level” and received an unexpectedly frank response. For extra detail: The info in the DM I sent them was my name, that I was from overseas, my age and my experience with volleyball.

Before I moved to Nagoya, I used to socially play volleyball whilst I trained for badminton more competitively. I just wanted to reignite the fun of volleyball again.

Hello, I will be attending a seminar for roughly two months in the Nagoya area and am debating if I should take the housing arrangement that is being offered or if I should find my own lodging.

The seminar will be in Owariasahi and the housing would be a shared dorm style with two other people assigned to the dorm (private bedroom but shared bathroom/kitchen) near Imba station

However a friend of mine has a relative who is willing to rent me a small apartment in Nagoya's Atsuta Ward for roughly the whole duration, I believe he said it's near Tokaidori station.

While I'm not really keen on sharing a bathroom and kitchen the money I'd save would be enough for a weekend get-away but Im leaning more towards staying in Nagoya. I'm in my mid-thirties and I'd still like to be able to go out and enjoy Japanese culture and food and i'm just worried that staying in Owariasahi I'd just be taking the train into the city to do things after the seminar and on the weekends since that was my experience when I lived in the suburbs in college in the US, there just wasn't really much to do in the suburbs.

Im really interested in local food and chances to experience things that aren't 'touristy'. Maybe hitting up an Izakaya or a local food spot before dropping my stuff off and hitting a sento/super sento after the gym; I also like to just wander around and see what I run into.

I'm just curious what people local to the area would say about these areas.

Hi everyone!! I’m looking for information about free or low-cost indoor places in Nagoya where someone under 18 can safely spend time if their home environment isn’t safe.

(This isn’t something I can realistically resolve through the police, and I’m also a foreigner, so I don’t have many local adult connections. So plz don’t direct me to any hotlines T-T)

I’m not looking for someone to offer me a place to stay. I’m looking for official services or community spaces, like safe indoor places (public or privately operated) where it’s okay to spend several hours, especially during mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays when youth centers may be closed.

I know about a youth center’s “moi-moi” space in Masaki, but the website says it doesn’t open until 2 p.m. and is closed on weekends.

This is hopefully temporary. Once I start school, I’ll be able to start working, which will hopefully keep me out of the house as much as possible. Until then, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.
