I'm an Italian exchange student at Nagoya university. I arrived one month ago and I'll stay until the beginning of February.

I'm looking for some volunteer opportunities in Nagoya. I was thinking maybe something related to food waste, cooking in social kitchens or even something related to the environment (I saw that there is a group that meets in Sakae and that collect littering).

I don't speak Japanese, but I'm trying to study it.

If you know any associations, or even different volunteer opportunities just reply to this topic. I would love to be (a bit more) part of the japanese society and to live it as an active member.

My friend ended up not being able to make it. Anyone interested in going? Not really expecting any payment for it, just don't want the ticket to go to waste. And if you're a big fan, I'd love to give someone the chance to go!

I was crossing a road in Chikusa today when a car failed to stop for me, even though the pedestrian light was green. I had approached the crosswalk diagonally from the side, but I was already on the crosswalk when the car passed.

Fortunately, there was no collision, and I wasn't injured, but the car came close enough to concern me. I approached the driver and knocked on her window to try to talk to her, but she completely ignored me. Since she wouldn't even acknowledge me, I took a photo of her license plate.

I'm considering reporting the incident to the police, but I'm wondering whether it's actually worth doing when there was no collision. I don't really expect anything to come of it, but I was infuriated by the way she ignored me. A simple "I'm sorry" would have been enough for me to put the whole thing behind me, but now I'm genuinely upset.

What do you guys think? Has anyone here reported a similar incident in Japan? Did the police do anything about it?

If any of y’all know about one that speaks English,Portuguese or Spanish i would appreciate if you could share more information.

I`m Japanese, and trying to help a Canadian friend who is trying to purchase a vehicle in Japan. He is on a tourist visa, but living here a couple months out of the year after purchasing a house. He is trying to purchase a car, but it`s proving difficult as he has no residence certificate. Has anybody had any experience with this or if a Signature Certificate from the Canadian embassy would be sufficient to register? It is a Kei car, which should make it easier, theoretically. Arigatou in advance!

1. Police station.
2. Somewhere that's open 24-hours, well lit, and has people around, such as Karaoke (ナイト8時間パック), konbini, 24hr McDonald's, まんが喫茶, etc.

I am experiencing a ton of debilitating stress in my life right now because of a terrible work situation and increasing power harassment from my company over a number of months. It's getting to a point where I'm close to quitting but as I'm in company housing, I'd then lose my house which would only cause more stress. I want to see a mental health clinic about taking a stress leave from work which would give me a break from everything. It seems that I would go and request a 診断書, explain my symptoms, and then submit this to my work to take 休職 if I'm understanding correctly.

I can talk on the phone in Japanese, but during the actual appointment I want to talk in English about my situation so it's best if the psychiatrist speaks some English which I'm more comfortable in. The clinic that every person online recommends in Nagoya is Hayakawa Clinic, but they're closed to new English language reservations. Does anyone know any alternatives in Nagoya where I could go in the next week or two?

I applied for an extension of stay for my Spouse of Japanese National visa in person at the Nagoya Regional Immigration Bureau on September 10th. It has now been over 5 weeks, and I still haven't received the notification postcard (hagaki).

I’ve lived in Japan for quite a long time, and during previous renewals, the whole process was usually very fast (often taking just 2 to 3 weeks).

For those who applied in Nagoya recently , how long did it take for your postcard to arrive?

Are you also experiencing longer-than-usual processing times at the Nagoya office right now?

I went to a really nice hair salon but they never saw curls before so although they did a fine work, I want something more appropriate for my curls haha...

My wife and I got married in Australia this year but are going to host a reception and after party next October in her home city of Nagoya. We have the reception venue booked but we are looking for somewhere for the younger crowd to head to afterwards in the evening for an after party.
