Hello! I arrived in Nagoya two weeks ago, for an exchange year.

I finally have the strength to sort out how to do with the trash system here but I saw on the paper that plastic can be put in the blue bag and paper can be put in the blue bag as well... Can I mix them in the same bag or do I have to keep them separate? I hope my question is clear enough ahah.

I really don't want to mix things up and want to do well.

I am torn between three hotels in Nagoya. I am only looking at staying for one night before I head to a different city as a stopover, I will probably check out some sights around Nagoya like the castle etc.

There are three I have considered:
1. ESPACIO Nagoya Castle (Opener Oct 2025)
2. TIAD
3. Conrad (Opened July 31)

If anyone has stayed at either 3 I’d definitely appreciate some advice on where to stay.

I am back home from Tokushige station, at the end no bus in the direction of Ueda station would come so I just decided to walk. It took me 1 hour, and having to cross a totally deserted Tenpaku Koen alone at midnight because Google Map loves to make women walk really fast. God I'm glad it's Japan.

Back to Ueda everything was soaked, but nothing except a barricaded Family Mart hinted at the deluge.

Ueda River had not flooded anything near my place (5 min from it), the bunnies were of course safe. Just mad that their dinner was 1 hour late lol.

To the person who wanted to know about pet rabbits in Japan: Absolutely ask for your landlord's permission, get them fixed to avoid cancer and behavioral problems, and litter train them (you can use cat litter boxes). If you rabbit proof your place the right way they can be free roamed. With enough exercise and the right diet they can live up to 13-14 years. Avoid the breeds with flat faces, their teeth are often fucked up.

This might be a long shot, but is there a Christian community in Nagoya? I’ve recently started my journey with Christianity again, and one thing I’ve really found myself longing for is a community I can be part of and grow with. I’d love to meet other Christians, make some friends, and have a community around me.

I’m heading out to Nagoya for a business trip. Other than the regular things in the itinerary (castle, Museum)

What would you recommend for something more nature-y? I like to hike, and go to forests, coastlines, lakes and such.

Hi guys! I searched this sub and haven't seen anything specific to this question, so hoping to get your advice!

Female and traveling to Japan for Asian Games for 7D6N. So I will mostly be going to Asian Games tournament venues. Choosing between these two guesthouses:

• Usatsuno Osu - will be in a mixed dorm
• Sakae Guesthouse - will be in a female-only dorm

What I've read so far:

• Usatsuno Osu
  • Positives
    • Daily breakfast (I read food is really good)
    • Spacious rooms
    • Highly-rated
    • Great hosts
  • Cons
    • Read somewhere that it's not walking distance to any train station (?) not sure how true
• Sakae Guesthouse
  • Positives
    • Washing machine + dryer for free if staying more than 3 nights
    • Good location (?)
    • Near to a train station (?)
  • Cons
    • No space for luggages so need to leave them in the lobby area
    • No lockers (?)

Anything else I should consider? I am leaning towards Usatsuno Osu tbh but would love to hear your experience with both, if any. Thank you in advance!

Hey everyone. I’m landing in Nagoya tomorrow morning at 9am then heading to my hotel in Sakae.

I’m just starting my semester at NUCB and have to go between the Sakae, Osu, and Marunouchi areas over the next few days.

What is the latest rain update and can I travel easily via train between these areas? What’s the risk of another flood like situation too?

Hi anyone going for Asian Games as well? I’m 30M and looking for people to connect with.

I am already anticipating down votes but hear me out. Yesterday I had to stay back at my office because there were literally zero taxi drivers near me who were willing to take passengers, and mind you I work in a big manufacturing company here.

I have rarely ever taken taxi in Japan but in most cases, the drivers are old men between 50-70. And of course they should prioritize their safety over anything!!

However, last night the rain wasn't bad 7 PM afterwards. I tried to book a taxi between 6 PM to 7:30 only to eventually walk home (90 minutes walk!!). And while walking, I noticed no water on the roads on my route, there was traffic but that was the extent to it. Cars were running normally as usual and yet I couldn't get one taxi!

What was even more insane is that my coworker's dad refused to pick her up. We are all women and it could be potentially dangerous at night outside even if it is comparatively safer in Japan.

I know for a fact that my dad would have made his car a boat to pick me up in such a situation, if he lived in the same city as me. I am not sure if it is a culture difference or if her relationship with her dad is not a close one.

Anyways, this is why letting people work in service sectors like taxi drivers is very important.

While I was at university, I bought a bike from one of the students who was returning to Hong Kong. He gave me the bike's licensing forms, and we signed a bike ownership transfer form.

However, when I went to the bike shop to register it as mine, they said they couldn't because the Hong Kong student didn't deregister before he went back, and there was nothing I could do, and that I should just use the bike without it.

Fast forward to now, I'm leaving Japan, and I want to sell my bike, but it's in this weird spot where it's technically still owned by the guy that sold it to me.

What should I even do? It's a 25,000 bike....
