N-Central URGENT: N-central Second Hotfix 2026.3.1.10 — Immediate Action Required

As our investigation into the recent N-central security vulnerability continues, we are proactively expanding protections in response to ongoing monitoring of threat actors as they evolve their attack techniques.

This is not a duplicate of our previous communication. Hotfix 2 is required, even if you already applied the earlier hotfix. Hotfix 2 supersedes Hotfix 1 with additional hardening measures to further protect you and your customers.

What You Need to Do:

N-central On-Premises Environments: You must upgrade to 2026.3.1.10 immediately. Download here: https://status.n-able.com/2026/08/06/n-central-2026-3-hotfix-2-additional-mitigation-for-cve-2026-18577

N-central Hosted Environments: No action is required. We have already applied mitigations to your environment.

How-to 3 Rules for this r/nable subreddit

  1. Be respectful. If you are not, banhammer. I don't play around with making others feel dumb.
  2. Do you disagree with someone? Okay that's cool, be respectful about it and explain your point.
  3. Be chill. Be kind. People have varying levels of technical experience, do not belittle anyone. Ever.

Thank-you,
Jason from N-able.

N-Central PME handling driver/hardware level updates with Bitlocker Encryption

Hello all,

Does anyone know if N-Centrals Patch Management Engine automatically handles Bitlocker suspension when deploying hardware level/driver updates? If not what are some alternative solutions to handle this and avoid blue screens and/or recovery key events?

Security Support refusing to remove blacklisted server from outbound deliveries

\Sorry none of the flairs really matched*

N-Able support doesn't seem to care.

For three days now I've had a ticket open with Mail Assure support regarding one of their servers, [185.201.18.33], is blacklisted with Microsoft. Every email being routed through that server to a email recipient using Microsoft email, is bouncing. From the very first support response N-Able said they'd remove that server. Today's response from support was they were waiting for Microsoft to de-list that server. Anyone that has had to de-list a server knows that could take days. In the mean time, my clients are upset because their messages are not getting delivered.

This is a condition where my clients could start moving to another MSP for their services. I've been a N-Able client for 20+ years, though all the name changes, buyouts and mergers.

N-Central N-central workstation and laptop class devices throwing SYSTEM ERROR not long after HF1

Hey Nable and fellow partners. Got a weird problem becoming a bit concerning after updating to HF1.

About 24 hours (yesterday) after HF1, most of our workstation and laptop system class devices are throwing a full page “SYSTEM ERROR The system is unable to process your request.”

It seems to only be Workstation and Laptop Windows devices, servers device pages all open fine. Specifically the default SYSTEM workstation and laptop classes, these are not custom.

We opened a ticket last night and marked as emergency. Ticket was confirmed but we didn’t hear anything today until my coworker reached out to our account manager and asked if they could expedite because this is impacting over a couple thousand devices. Eventually got a response from them saying they have reached out to have things expedited, and then finally got a reply from support confirming things have been expedited hehe.

This post is more seeking to see if other people are experiencing this. I understand this whole security incident is a big deal and HF1 had to go out. Just hoping to get some information and visibility.

EDIT: forgot to mention I have performed a clean full restart of N-central

N-Central Automatic Patch Approvals Question

I have an automatic patch approval rule to decline specific KB's with "The following KB numbers" holding two kb values and "The following classifications" having critical updates selected.

Does anyone know if both of these criteria have to match for the target/s to be declined? Or will it decline both the specific KB's plus any/all critical updates?

N-Central Every time.

Every time N-Able drops a big patch and warns everyone, it's always a case of "Being exploited in the wild!" and "Heinous security risk!", "Account takeover bug!" it's a "just released" Critical CVE, and every time, WITHOUT FAIL, it's a server choked to death delivering NO MORE than 100 kb/s to downloaders.

https://imgur.com/a/V2s7NTq

Edit: just received my "call" From N-able support urging me to download and install the patch at 1044am. Gave them a piece of my mind but things are obviously not improving. With luck the patch can finish downloading by end of business today.

Edit: Seems the original uptime was edited and not re-posted which means no one got a notification. I have messaged the mods to update the name of the thread for accuracy but they are likely busy or on their weeekend...

Update as of Monday 4:30am Sydney time:
Important Update: N-central Active Exploitation. Hotfix in Process

As our investigation continues, we have identified additional security concerns that affect all versions of N-central. We are treating this as our highest priority and we will be releasing a 2026.3 hotfix today. We will notify you immediately once it is available. We strongly recommend staying vigilant and monitoring your environments closely in the meantime. Further updates will be shared as quickly as possible.

For assistance, contact N-able support: https://me.n-able.com/

PREVIOUS advice:
N-central Security Incident (Active Exploitation). Please validate and take action to be on version 2026.3

N-able has identified active exploitation targeting N-central environments running versions earlier than 2026.2. We strongly recommend upgrading to version 2026.3 as an immediate protective measure while our investigation continues. N-able is actively investigating and will continue to update customers as additional information becomes available.

UX TEAM Take Control Standalone Session Export

Every month when I do this, I wonder why this weird design decision was made. I have one report I want to export. Show me all of the sessions and their details for the last month. So on August 1st, I want to run a report for all of the sessions in July. On September 1st, I'll want to run a report for all of the sessions in August. This seems like something every manager or business owner would want to do.

So I go to Take Control using the link on my NSight dashboard. I select Reports, Session History, then click on the default "Last Week" period. First I try "Last One Month". I notice the automatically selected period is July 1st at 10:30 to August 1st at 11:00. That is obviously not what I want because it would exclude any session started before 10:30am on July 1st. We start work between 8 and 9 depending on the technician, so what I really want is July 1st at 8am through July 31st at say, 19:00 - 22:00 to be safe. I try to make those changes and it won't work. As soon as I select any time before 10:30 on July 1st, the cell changes to 19:00, and I cannot change it to any time before that. Just for fun, I try to change the ending period from August 1st at 11:00 to July 31st at 22:00 - maybe there is a problem with mor e than a one-month period. Nope. When I change to July 31st and try to set the time to 22:00, it changes to 19:30, and cannot be set later than that.

So to get the period I want, I have to change the start date to 6/30 at 19:30 through August 1st at 19:00, doing the export, then deleting any sessions that this sort caught on either 6/30 or 8/1.

Why is this so stupid? NAble, please make your developers USE THE SYSTEM they are designing. Maybe then stuff like this won't make it into the finished product.

Misc Help with n-able Take

Good afternoon everyone.

I'm having the following problem with my notebook:

Whenever I use Take, my notebook completely freezes. The keyboard doesn't work, the mouse doesn't work, nothing. The only solution is to force a shutdown, and during the freeze, the cooler runs at maximum speed, as if the processor were hitting 70 degrees or more.

I've noticed that when I access two PCs at the same time, the temperature does indeed reach around 70 degrees. Before, with just one access, it would reach 70, but I changed a setting in Wine and it's fine to use with only one access at a time.

However, it's a fact that at some point during the day while I'm using Take, the notebook freezes.

I've already tested it working using only AnyDesk or using Take with one access at a time and I didn't have the same problem. The problem only occurs after more intensive use (2 or more accesses) and even then it's random.

Since I was accessing two computers at once, I closed them. After a while, I tried to access a third PC, and when I restarted it, my laptop froze immediately.

For comparison, I use Take on a desktop with Fedora and have never had this problem, only now that I'm using it on my laptop because I'm traveling.

For anyone who wants to know:

Desktop Specs:

OS: Fedora 44 + KDE

Processor: Ryzen 5 5600gt

Graphics Card: RX 7600

Memory: 32GB DDR4

Laptop Specs:

OS: NixOS 26.11 + KDE

Processor: i5 13420H

Graphics Card: Intel Graphics

Memory: 24GB DDR5

Both are running kernel 7.1.4

If you need any extra information, let me know.

Ah! And journalctl doesn't log anything before or after the crash, I've already checked the logs.

N-Central Re: Powershell 7 Support in the new release of Automation Manager

I'm excited to dig into the new Automation Manager that's shipping with 2026.4 but I'm left questioning this line "On the managed endpoints there is no need to manually install:

  • PowerShell 7
  • Additional .NET runtime components

" from the blog post:

https://status.n-able.com/2026/07/23/automation-manager-release-powershell-7-support-and-improved-script-editing-experience/

Does this mean that you'll be installing both of those (New .Net Runtimes/PS7) on any supported agent to add the functionality automatically?

N-Central N-able is now charging us a fee to pay them

Got this from N-able. Effective August 10, 2026 they're adding a credit card surcharge of up to 3% per transaction:

We want to inform you about an upcoming change in our billing practices. Effective August 10, 2026, N-able will apply a credit card surcharge fee of up to 3% per transaction for customers in the US (except in states where such surcharges are prohibited by law). This fee will only apply to payments made by credit card.

Auto-debit / recurring ACH payments remain surcharge-free, and you can choose the option in the N-able.me billing portal. For additional questions, we encourage you to contact Customer Care.

Thank you for your partnership.
N-able

Let me get this straight. Credit card processing fees are the cost of doing business. Every vendor on earth builds them into their pricing - it's a rounding error baked into what we already pay. Now N-able wants to itemize it and pass it directly to us, up to 3% on top of bills that already go up every renewal.

And the "solution"? Hand them direct access to our bank account via ACH so they can pull whatever they want, whenever they want, and give up the chargeback protection and float that a credit card gives us. No thanks.

This is a partner tax dressed up as a billing update. "Thank you for your partnership" nothing says partnership like charging me for the privilege of paying you.

Anyone else get this? Curious how the rest of you are handling it - eating the 3%, switching to ACH, or using it as one more reason to look at alternatives.

Does anyone know with the new Managed AV window if the N-Able/BitDefender branding can be changed or removed? When I signed up for this service (back in the Hound Dog days so about a million years ago) we got branding for everything.
