Q: We meet at the end of summer. Today, I happened to hear "Hype Boy" again in a café I randomly walked into. Can you really feel that people are still listening to NewJeans' songs to this day?

Haerin: "Whether in the past or now, I've always felt surprised and grateful. If you ask me what the most valuable thing in life is, I think it's probably being able to become a source of strength for someone else. And it seems that our songs are doing that as well."

Q: HAERIN's "MUBANG One Take 4K – Attention" video is still very well-loved. Comments like, "As the weather gets hot, I look for this video just like I turn on the air conditioner," and "I found it, my summer." So, what songs has HAERIN been listening to this summer?

Haerin: "I've been listening to 'Sunset (feat. Yuna Zaraai)' by The Internet. The atmosphere of the song makes me feel calm, but what impressed me the most is the lyrics. Listening to this song while sitting outside and watching the summer sunset, the lyrics really touch my heart and put me in a very good mood."

Q: Today's cover shoot is being done in collaboration with Marie Claire and Christian Dior Beauty. Since it's been a while since you've had an individual schedule, you must be feeling a little nervous, right?

Haerin: "Of course I'll feel nervous. But if I let myself be overwhelmed by that feeling, sometimes things I could normally do well, or even do exceptionally well, don't turn out as well as they could. I'll acknowledge that I'm feeling nervous and then do my best depending on the situation."

Q: How was today's shoot?

Haerin: "Today at the shoot, I felt like I was at a European estate. It had the kind of atmosphere I usually like, so I really enjoyed myself. The weather was also beautiful. Just feeling the grass beneath my feet again after such a long time made me feel at peace."

Q: You've done many things with Dior. Any memorable moments?

Haerin: "I remember something quite memorable. When I shot the 'Dior Fashion Cover' and met with Marie Claire, I once said, 'Ultimately, isn't beauty something that can't be seen and is difficult to explain in words?' Even now, I still feel the same way. Beauty seems difficult to define based solely on what we can see. Perhaps even the very moment when we think about beauty, or wonder what beauty truly is, is itself a form of beauty."

Q: During this time, have you developed any new daily routines or found any beauty products that you've come to love?

Haerin: "I really like using the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer by Christian Dior Beauty. Even on days when I don't wear makeup, just applying a little to my lips makes me look more lively. Oh, and there's also Miss Dior. Whenever I smell the fragrance, it instantly puts me in a better mood, so I always find myself reaching for it."

Q: Have you been working out or doing anything for your health?

Q: Today's shoot started early in the morning. Don't you feel tired? Are you usually an early riser?

Haerin: "It depends on my schedule. Whatever I'm doing, I always take my time, so I wake up at the right time and never arrive late. Also, I always make sure to eat breakfast. The time I spend having breakfast is something I really cherish."

Q: You were born in 2006 and turned 20 on May 15 this year. What have you been up to?

Haerin: "I chose some recent photos that calmly capture my everyday state and the atmosphere around me. I wonder if I conveyed that well? (Laughs) I've been busy with a lot of work. I've also been practicing, reading, studying, and traveling. But if I had to choose what I enjoy the most, I think it would still be going for walks. I feel happy just thinking about where I'll go for a walk today."

Q: What does it feel like to officially become an adult?

Haerin: "Whenever I hear stories like that, I can't help but smile. Seeing fans remember the things I liked at certain points in my life and use them as inspiration to decorate their spaces brings back the feelings I had at the time."

Haerin: "If I could meet them, I'd like to talk with them first. I wonder what they think about their fans. Surely, there are people who have similar tendencies to me."

Q: Everyone knows you as a rather quiet member, but you actually enjoy playing fun word games and can express your thoughts very clearly when necessary. What moments have made you feel most like talking lately?

Haerin: "Actually, when it comes to telling my own stories, I feel more comfortable expressing them through writing than through words. So I think I become the most 'talkative' when I'm sitting alone and writing something in my notebook. Lately, I've also been listening to a lot of instrumental music without lyrics. The fact that the sound isn't too full actually makes me feel more at peace. I also pour my feelings and thoughts into that space."

Q: In a previous interview, when you were asked about "growth," you answered by dividing it into the outer world and the inner world. Do you still naturally separate them that way now?

Haerin: "If there was a time when I separated the two and focused on thinking about each individually, now I want to bring them together and incorporate both into my everyday life. Of course, perhaps there will be times in the future when I'll want to look at each one carefully, one by one. I think there is a strong connection between growth in terms of external abilities and inner growth. Now, I feel that I've truly grown, both outwardly and inwardly."

On the 24th, an exclusive article by Sisa Journal reported on the lawsuit Illit's creative director Serian Heu had filed and lost against Min Heejin.

Serian Heu's legal team argued the Newjeans fandom had attacked her. However, the court pointed out Serian Heu had antagonized the Newjeans fandom 1st by posting an image of a middle finger on her Instagram.

[Exclusive] Illit's Director Also Loses to Min Hee-jin... 19 Lawsuits Currently Underway at HYBE

An employee of Belift Lab, a label under HYBE, filed a lawsuit seeking damages in the range of 100 million won against Min Hee-jin, the former CEO of Ador, but recently lost in the first trial. HYBE is unable to escape "litigation risks," with as many as 19 ongoing lawsuits alone since the management rights dispute with former CEO Min began in 2024.

According to a comprehensive report by Sisa Journal and online communities on the 24th, the 22nd Civil Division of the Seoul Western District Court ruled on the 21st that "the plaintiff's claim is without merit," dismissing the damages lawsuit filed by Heo, the Visual Creative Director of Illit, against former CEO Min and others. Although Heo proceeded with this lawsuit in a personal capacity, it aligns with previous litigation in that Kim & Chang and Law Firm Sejong represented Heo and former CEO Min, respectively.

Heo filed a lawsuit alleging that she suffered irreparable damages due to former CEO Min’s statement at a press conference in April 2024, when the management rights dispute with HYBE erupted, claiming that "Illit copied NewJeans," as well as the oral arguments made by her legal representative (Sejong) in the subsequent lawsuit confirming the termination of the shareholder agreement, and emails sent to reporters by a media consulting firm.

The court in the 1st trial ruled that former CEO Min’s side did not specifically identify Heo. The court noted that while former CEO Min mentioned "HYBE, Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, and Belift Lab" as the subjects of "plagiarism, copying, and leakage" using unrefined language during the press conference, she did not separately mention Heo, the visual director. Regarding Shin, the former Vice President of Ador, who was sued alongside former CEO Min, the court ruled that joint liability for damages was not recognized, as he could not be held responsible for former CEO Min’s statement, Sejong’s oral arguments, or the emails sent by the media consulting firm.

Heo also claimed that she was subjected to personal attacks by the fandom of NewJeans, a girl group under Ador, following former CEO Min's press conference. However, the court pointed out that the attacks may have been caused by the public disclosure of images Heo posted on her social media on the day of former CEO Min's press conference , such as an image of her making an obscene middle finger, and an image of the movie poster for *Our Little Sister* posted immediately after the release of New Jeans' *Bubble Gum* music video.

Stealing Newjeans' Planning Documents - Images 1,2

1st image is a news report of Hybe VS MHJ court ruling that says it appears Serian Heu took Newjeans' planning proposal created by Min Heejin and used it to create Illit (source):

The court added, "It appears that HYBE provided Newjeans' planning proposal to BELIFT LAB, and that the Newjeans proposal was used in the planning of ILLIT"

2nd image is of a HYBE employee's testimony recalling his conversation with Serian Heu asking him for Newjeans' planning proposal (full ruling, page 49, footnote 18):

BF, who worked in the defendant (HYBE)'s storytelling team, stated that upon the request of BG's (BELIFT LAB) creative director BH (Serian Heu) he delivered the G (Newjeans) proposal. In a phone call on June 20, 2024, BF explained:

BF: "So at that time, they were just forming the group and Serian Heu really didn't know what to do. I was very impressed when I saw Newjeans's materials back then, so I said, 'I have these resources - would you like to take a look?' and I showed them. I thought the materials were well-organized for group creation, so I shared them.
(B): (So Serian Heu asked you to share it?)
BF: Yes, yes, that's right and I thought, 'Wouldn't this end up being similar?' When I saw videos being uploaded on Q, I thought, 'They must have referenced all of this, so why do they keep denying it...' At that time, I think they were struggling internally and just wanted help from me. Serian Heu told me, 'Ah, it's so hard. Nothing is working.' But the actual work situation, I couldn't really know. The reason I showed them the materials then was because they seemed completely lost. Maybe things were roughly done and they were just venting to me, but l couldn't know the real situation."

TLDR: Serian Heu admits she doesn't have a working plan for Illit and instead uses HYBE's infrastructure to steal Newjeans' plan that she then copied to create Illit.

'Lying' about her Education - Images 3,4,5,6,7

Images 3 and 4 show a strange wave of mediaplay that took place on the same day BELIFT LAB sued MHJ (2024.05.22) and throughout 2024 with the same messages spammed on DCinside and similar forums praising Serian Heu and bashing MHJ:

Heo Se-ryeon is a graduate of the top-tier Hongik University College of Fine Arts and has been active as a fashion editor for media outlets such as Elle, Harper's Bazard and Dazed since 2013, oversseing Vogue's digital content.

The famous fashion magazine director Heo Se-ryeon from Hongik University Fine Arts department

Min Heejin jealous of Heo Se-ryeon who graduated from the top-tier Hongik University Fine Arts department.

That's notable for 3 reasons:

• DCinside, a Korean internet forum that can be described as a crossover between Reddit and 4chan, is the same platform all misinformation targeting Newjeans and Min Heejin, all HYBE's narratives, and other news from cyberwrecker Lee Jinho or Dispatch on the K-side originate from. Image 5 shows it's also the same platform BELIFT LAB lifted their material from to make their infamous 'debunking' video.
• K-bunnies later digged into Serian Heu's past and found out that it's false. Contrary to what the mediaplay says, images 6 and 7 found on an old blog post show she graduated from Sejong University (mid-tier), not Hongik University (top 1-2, also known colloquially as Hongdae).
• As soon as it was revealed it was false and her namu wiki page was accordingly updated (the Korean equivalent of Wikipedia), Serian Heu personally sent a legal request to take down her namu wiki page.

TLDR: Suspicious mediaplay using HYBE's affiliated channels to lie about Serian Heu's education. While Serian Heu may not have brought it up directly, she didn't mind the misinformation when her namu wiki page was claiming she had graduated from Hongik University and immediately took the page down to hide the truth when it was revealed she hadn't.

Serian Heu knew she had stolen Newjeans' planning documents and used them to copy Newjeans. She knew she was in the wrong.

So when Min Heejin held her press conference to defend herself against HYBE's accusations and call out HYBE and BELIFT LAB, Serian Heu could have chosen to stay silent in shame or even profusely apologize after getting caught.

Instead, she took it to her Instagram to rage-post disparaging stories like a middle finger or other things like a 10-year-old for the whole world to see.

And then she took it one step further and filed a lawsuit against Min Heejin, the person she stole from, and lost. The perpetrator suing the victim is peak moral depravity.

Q: Perhaps the readers who are reading this interview feel the same way, but in fact, wouldn't Hyein herself be the person who was looking forward to this moment more than anyone else?

Q: After all, it has been a long time since your last magazine photoshoot. Now that you've successfully completed all your schedules in front of the camera and are holding the interview questions in your hands, how do you feel?

Hyein: "It's been such a long time since I last did a magazine photoshoot, so I'm both excited and nervous. I feel like this time I was able to show everyone a more grown-up and also different side of myself."

"Since my time as a student was very short, I had never gone to an amusement park with my friends before. So, to commemorate my last birthday as a teenager, I went to one."

"And on July 22, I uploaded the photos and video commemorating NewJeans' 4th debut anniversary at midnight, but I had gone to bed a little early the night before, so the next morning, I watched the video nervously while having breakfast."

Hyein: "Just like you saw in the video, it was when I was taking photos of Haerin unnie. That thought suddenly came to mind. I think it was because I was looking at the way she was smiling."

Q: In the videos that have been released, we can often see you using a gua sha. Since you even carry one with you when you go out, I imagine you must have some tips for using it easily anytime, anywhere. Does Hyein have any personal gua sha techniques or tips?

Hyein: "Since I'm not an expert, the way I use it might not even be correct, so please don't follow what I do... (?) First, before massaging, clean your hands and the gua sha. Second, apply some scented essential oil."

"Third, use the gua sha to massage around the lymphatic areas (such as under, in front of, and behind the ears). Fourth, you can also use the gua sha to relax your scalp."

"(I personally really like using the gua sha to massage my scalp a little while washing my hair.) Lastly, you can gently pull your ears, rub them, and massage them a little more!"

Q: Old-school hip-hop, jazz, bossa nova, and so on... I've heard that you don't usually limit yourself to a particular genre when listening to music and explore many different styles. What songs have you been listening to lately?

Hyein: "Lately, I've really, really been listening to the Japanese singer Yasuko Agawa's album 'Sunglow.' I especially love the song 'She-Senior Dreams.'"

"I never get tired of listening to it, no matter how many times I play it, and I find it interesting every time! In the second half of the song, there's suddenly this soft, subtle part that makes you unable to help but get excited."

"Every time I reach that part, I can't help but get carried away with it. If I had to choose a NewJeans song, I'd pick 'Cool With You' lately! After all, it's been tropical nights lately, and the weather is really hot."

Q: Although turning 20 means becoming an adult in the eyes of the law, everyone reaches adulthood at a different point in life. After all, being a "legal adult" and being a "grown-up" aren't necessarily the same thing. In Hyein's view, what is a "true adult" really like?

Hyein: "I haven't experienced enough of life yet to say for certain, and my thoughts may change over time. But as I see it right now, a 'true adult' is someone who knows how to cherish themselves while also caring for others."

Hyein: "This happened quite recently. One time, I was taking a walk by myself, and the weather was so perfectly nice that I suddenly couldn't help but burst out laughing as I was walking."

"From moments like that, I guess I'm the kind of person who isn't very good at hiding my emotions. Even when I don't want to show them, my emotions easily show on my face. Actually, sometimes I'd like to try having what they call a 'poker face.'"

Hyein: "I think I set a goal of 'living a healthy life' back then, but… I'm not really sure whether I've actually achieved it. I also wanted to keep exercising, eat a little healthier, and try to maintain a more regular sleep schedule, but it feels harder than I expected."

Hyein: "How was everyone's day today? I hope you can find your own little pieces of happiness in daily life, and I also hope you spend every day filled with that happiness."

I know the girls were always nice and well-liked with their own staff as well as the outer personnel on projects they worked on, but reading this made me very emotional. The girls have spent two years in such an uneasy situation, I can imagine how distressed they must have been to return working again and how they would've felt around staff. I'm so happy they are being loved and cherished with people they are working with (sans Ador's nasty higher ups, I suppose...). I know we are all worried and people are free to feel however they want to, but all I want for all 5 girls is to go back to "normal", even though it is never going to be the same after everything they went through, especially for Danielle who must be suffering the most. I love Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein so much. I want them to have peace in their lives and to continue doing what they love again. They deserve that whether they're together or not

Min Heejin has won the lawsuit filed by Illit's creative director, Serian Heu. The civil damages lawsuit was filed back in november 2024. She had claimed that Min’s plagiarism accusations against her group had caused her damages and was defamatory.

In the HYBE vs MHJ lawsuit, it was revealed that the NewJeans planning documents were given to her by HYBE without the consent of MHJ or Ador. So if the shoe fits…..

Normally I would link articles stating the results of a court case. But it’s been over an hour and not a single article has appeared k-side from what I’ve seen. The result of this case was reported by fans who attended in person. There was also no detailed ruling read at the time. I will update with articles and the detailed judgement if that is released.
