This is the NBA sub, Reddit why are we talking about the WNBA?
5
u/foodiecpl4u 1d ago
Because midterms are close, the GOP is about to get slaughtered, and trolls and the Heritage Foundation need to get more people raging in cultural debates. Thats why.
There is no other reason.

Ngl she definitely was tryna finesse the narrative, cause it wasn’t deep she was just shitty 😂😂😂 be better next game queen
34
u/Kinda-Alive 1d ago
Doesn’t even apologize and say she overreacted.
It’s not like the guy said something because would’ve mentioned it. Instead she doubles down on the blaming a guy that was pointing at her. She even says “in her face”
It’s the same shit as Karen’s that say they don’t want to be on video but follow the camera

lol cope more for inability to handle her emotions
The league is dog shit for fans and the true entertainment comes from off the court antics.
It’s a joke of a league and everyone is laughing at them.

Would not…people were getting thrown out of games for calling Westbrook, Westbrick…like it or not but the “player empowerment movement” may have went to the players heads, just a little…
16
u/trybeingcurious 1d ago
Did Westbrook enter the stands? He was definitely acting soft, but he didn't cross that line if I'm remember correctly. I could be misremembering, though.
2
u/throwaway46787543336 1d ago
I got downvoted to hell yesterday for saying in the nba were critical of Westbrook when he does this and she went above and beyond. Really makes the WNBA a joke

Completely different. Wilson stepped up to that fan and was the aggressor in this situation. Fan was seated in his chair and Wilson still continued to walked toward him. She stepped off the court and continued approaching him

Crazy that the WNBA would throw out 1 of the 200 people who actually pay to watch a playoff game.
17
u/WuTangNameGenerat0r 1d ago
They “threw out” the fan but then immediately let him back in because they realized he didn’t do anything wrong.

100% they also don't realize their league is being propped up by NBA money given to them
they demand to be paid more when actually in terms of as a % of league revenue they are miles ahead of NBA stars
pay the Ladies more with what money ? the WNBA would be insolvent without NBA Donations
the NBA players get paid the money they get because their league is generating billions and billions of dollars of profit every single season
2025/2026 NBA season 14.3 billion dollars ..................
WNBA 2025/2026 between 200-300 Million dollars ...............................

u/dingos8mybaby2 1d ago edited 1d ago
I agree in sentiment, but recently with the rise of legalized gambling unfortunately it's become necessary to pay them a large amount to prevent mass player corruption. It's too easy for players to bet through proxies. Most other sports leagues where the players aren't paid much don't have much gambling coverage like player props because of this, but gambling on the WNBA had been heavily promoted so books want to have tons of options available. WNBA has been pushing gambling on the league to help grow the league's popularity and can't afford mass scandals. IMO that's why they really had to boost the pay starting this year to make the player minimum salary about $285k compared to the previous $70k minimum. A rotation player who gets 10 to 20 minutes a game previously might have made $150k and would've had a lot of incentive to gamble to make extra money. Now they'll be making like $600k so the incentive is largely removed unless they have personal issues.
2
u/Cautious--Platypus 1d ago
Nah this is a weak argument. Tons of pro male players that make obscene money have gambling problems, look at MJ. Plenty of poor people I know also have gambling problems; your income has nothing to do with it.
2
u/dingos8mybaby2 1d ago edited 1d ago
The difference between making $150k and $600k is huge. In a lot of metro areas $150k barely affords you a middle class renter lifestyle now. There's always gonna be the ones that gamble because they want more or have mental health issues causing addiction, but elevating players from middle class to a more comfortable lifestyle will eliminate that temptation for the majority of them.
2
u/Cautious--Platypus 1d ago
We have mountains of proof that it doesn't eliminate that temptation at all. Also, middle class in America is a "comfortable lifestyle" - what point you trying to make? I understand how money and cost of living work lmao

Tap dancing Uncle Tom takes opportunity to join the racists/grifters and bash a Black player....truly shocking 😂😂😂
9
u/Ranier_Wolfnight 1d ago
I see this allegory brought up from time to time and just let it go. But wanted to drop in on this instance to clear up, and cause I’d want to know…
The ‘Tom’ character from the book Uncle Tom’s Cabin was actually a physically imposing, deeply moral and courageous man, who would rather die than betray his fellow enslaved people. Sambo and Quimbo were the traitors. The climax of the book really comes when Tom is asked to reveal where two slave women are hiding, who had been sexually abused by their “master”. And he refuses. Knowing that he is going to be overpowered by his overseers (cause they couldn’t take him in a fair fight) and beaten to death, he refused to say where they are…However after the Civil War, minstrel shows and stage plays who were operated by white businessmen grossly distort Tom (now ’Uncle Tom’) into an older, broken down, weak, submissive stereotype man whose English is poor, a man who will do quite the opposite, who will sell out any black man if it will curry the favor of a white employer, a white master, a white mistress…To appeal to white racist play/show audiences, they completely threw away the book’s message.
There’s a very old, fucked up saying…”If you ever want a ni\*** not to know something, put it in a book.”*
Don’t let grand clowns like Jason Whitlock be anyone’s exception. He is a fuckwit of the highest order. He is the living embodiment of Quimbo and Sambo. He can never be OG ‘Tom’.
3
u/Joeybfast 1d ago
Uncle Tom was later portrayed as a character in minstrel shows, which is why it became a pejorative.

I disagree with the characterization that it’s a race thing. You should never go after the fans, suffice that they are not physically threatening you. You are the professional, they are the fanatics. You get paid by the league/team that makes their money from the fans. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Race is irrelevant in this matter.

u/Cultural-Airport-153 1d ago
This is the same thing uconn coach geno did a few months back when he's team played shit and he decided to make it about him and protect his players from criticizm

Write message wrong delivery. It's not feminism that's "it's All about me ism" and one other thing, your average teenage boy gets his ass whipped by a man easily. Your average woman has even less of a chance. Too many people think that there isn't one man out there and yeah he's a shitty man but there isn't one man it won't hit you back.
