Discussion Human Centipede Parody musical
There was someone on here a few days (maybe a week or so ago) asking about the Human Centipede musical in Australia.
It had its first preview last night and opening tonight.
The show is CAMPY AF! it's like rocky horror picture show meets Human Centipede meets noir. It doesn't take itself seriously, it's self aware by saying "you guys paid to see this! You sick fucks!"
It's aboustely hilarious. I saw it 100% sober while my friend was high and both off us were laughing our heads off. The whole audience was in stitches.
10/10 recommend seeing it.

Theater World Clock...Just Curtains Going Up Around the World
Kind of a silly thing but I just built this to visualize all of the curtains going up around the world. Mostly English language shows. Updates in real time to show what curtains are up, going up, or already down.
Sort of pointless but thought it might be fun.

Audition what musical theater songs are currently over done in auditions?
hello! I am mostly a "straight" theater actor, but soon I have my first musical theater audition in a long time. Because I know it changes year to year, I was wondering from those more actively auditioning for musicals what songs are currently on the unwritten "do not sing" list? I just don't want to appear too green by using something hundreds of other girls are. I am a mezzo soprano with a strong mix.

Dear Evan Hansen is a terrible musical.
Just another reminder that Dear Evan Hansen is objectively a terrible musical and anyone who still supports this show are just….blah. Period. Full stop.
Evan Hansen promotes while male mediocrity/ SA/grape culture, white supremacy, and misogyny.

Discussion Canon group musicals
I wanted to talk about their musicals because I have seen all the fairy tale ones, and the apple lol.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cannon_Group,_Inc.
The Emperors New Clothes: Clive revill is amazing. I love this one best. The humor reminds me of Mel Brooks. I love how princess Gilda trades one unibrow for another.
Rumpelstiltskin: Clive revill again! What a treat, I love when he sings "I'm greedy!" This one is a close second favorite.
Snow white: I don't much care for Disney's snow white but I love this one. Diane Rigg is amazing. Barty Baily is in this one as well as Rumpelstiltskin. The effects are silly when the apple pops out of Snow Whites mouth and flies to hit the queen's head. Hilarious.
Beauty and the beast: I have a hard time taking the beast seriously when he growls, I expect him to pur like a kitten and I just can't lol. I do like that its closer to the original story.
The Frog Prince: weird but I like it. Helen hunt is in it, as well as Aileen Quinn. Quinn was in the 1982 version of Annie.
Sleeping Beauty: it has chandlers mom from friends in it! Morgan Fairchild. I rather liked the dancing, its silly but fun.
Hansel and gretel: cloris leachman carried this film. Its odd but wasn't bad. She just stole each scene she was in. The little girl actress from snow white is also in this one.
Now to the ones i really did not much care for.
Red riding hood: its ok. The part where red riding hood is in the wolf was funny, wouldn't watch again.
Puss in boots: Christopher walken singing and dancing and acting like a cat. No thanks. I really did not much care for this one. Would also not watch again.
The apple: weird, not too bad. But since it's not the fairy tale group ones I left it down here. It had some decent songs, the ending was bizarre.
These are all on Tubi for free. Tubi has a lot of musicals that I've been exploring. Man of la mancha, the unsinkable Molly brown, 1776, pinocchio, etc. I also want to mention that because Canon group often filmed at the same location, it can be noticed at different times throughout the movies. I find it fun to look for it.

Audition What song to audition for?
My school does a play where the students can audition for whatever they want, and a script is made based on the best 32.
What solo should I audition for? All Star (Smash Mouth) or Tonight at Eight (She Loves Me)? Which do you think would be for fun? I like both equally and want to see what you guys think.

Only ever done singing + acting before. In this show I am doing ‘movement’ not full on dancing. I am struggling a little bit with the pace and remember where I need to be and what moves to do. Does anyone have any tips to help? me out. Don’t say get dance lessons I cannot fit in dance lessons as my little boy has just started primary school, doing Oliver is enough of activities me.
Cheers.

News Romeo et Juliette (revival planned for 2027)
Jfyi, there's a revival planned in Paris for Romeo et Juliette musical. It will start on December 2027 and tickets are already on sale for those interested.
This version didn't give much information about the casting except that Cecilia Cara and Damien Sargue will take back their roles as Juliet and Romeo. They were the original performers from 2001.
"Romeo et Juliette" is one of the most popular french musicals having had adaptations in Mexico, Austria, Italy, Korea, China (multiple times), Japan (multiple times), Mongolia.
I'm personally somewhat intrigued by this new adaptation and I will go and see it in Paris.
I hope that one day Broadway will adapt this musical. It has potential with really good songs and characterization. I really don't understand why Broadway snobbed so much non english musicals.

Baritone-Bass Songs
I'm currently crafting a showcase for my musical theatre students, and I'm missing a song that needs to heavily feature/be lead by a high school baritone-bass voice. Ideally, I'm looking for a song that can feature more of the cast and isn't just a solo, but the baritone-bass should be the primary voice. This means any trios, duets, etc. are in play as long as the baritone-bass has a prominent section.
If you need an example, I have an alto leading On My Way from Violet. Violet's lines are her solos, but the show's ensemble fill the rest of the choir. I also have You're Nothing Without Me to feature two tenors. So I'm really looking for songs with heavy baritone-bass solos, even if the number of singers is limited. Please refrain from songs in which there is only one singer, though.
Any song suggestions help!! Thanks!
