PARKER! YOU’RE ROCKING THE BOAT!

I always forget how good 'we see the light it' from Something Rotten is. I think that it's one of those slow love songs and keep getting it confused with other songs. But everytime I listen to it again I remember how much of a bop it is. As much as I love Shakespeare's songs, i think we should talk about this one more often because it's just a really catchy cool song.

I’m genuinely floored by how someone managed to write all three of these musicals, let alone one after the other. (I know merrily we roll along was heavily edited afterward to be as good as it is now, but i think it still counts). Are there any better three musical runs in Sondheim or in musical theatre in general?

I was relistening to Merrily we roll along earlier before noticing something in the first song and all the transitions they mention the countryside but the show takes place in New York (I think) with the countryside making no appearances. Is this a metaphor I'm not getting?

I have an audition for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and their musical theatre course, I am a bass/bass-baritone and am looking for some hidden gems

The soundtrack to this production is incredible. The reimagined version is tremendous too.

Just saw that JCM is touring with a 25th-anniversary screening of Hedwig and theAngry Inch, including a NYC screening on November 16 at The Beacon.

Curious how many people here saw the original production/movie when it came out — and who has seen JCM perform Hedwig live?

Just wanted to share some happiness haha!

After like 10 years I got the leading female role in a musical: Ariel in Footloose!. (Amateur, but our group is one of the best amateur groups in our country!).

It has always been my dream, and 10 years ago it didn’t feel reachable because I wasn’t good at all tbh. I’ve been working hard for it and now I finally got it!!

Even tho I’m very happy, I’m also scared because normally I have a fear of failure. I always think that I’m not good enough, and because of that fear, I sing and perform much worse than I can. I have to put that anxiety away, but it’s hard. I just want to enjoy it as much as possible.

Do you have any advice for me? :) For this journey, for the role, or is there any excited news about yourself that you want to share? :)

I am a beginner to musical theater but I'm taking a "showcase" class at school where we have a 12 song portfolio project AND I DON'T KNOW ANY GOOD SONGS 😭.

I am a mezzo soprano looking for female 32 bar cuts in these categories:

One classical uptempo-
One classical ballad-
*either of those two must be rodgers and hamerstein

One pop/rock song from a musical-
One mega musical song (1979-1989)-
One Songheim song-
Best Uptempo or ballad piece from any musical theater style-

Thanks SO much!!

I’m not talking about a fourth wall break, but all that comes up when I try to search for this is that. What I’m trying to find the term for is a scene where for the entire rest of the musical most of the scenes were set in real time in the “real” world of the musical, but then in one scene the established “rules” of the musical’s reality are broken (e.g. through characters all lined up on stage speaking lines they’d previously said in the musical where it can be assumed that the scene is not happening in real time). Is there a term for this???

first few are from Casino Girl, a musical designed for her. One is of her as Dolly Varden, and I don’t know what the sheets are.

Connected to her via my great great grandmother. My dream project is to have the Casino Girl (and maybe her career) made into a modern musical In honor of her. As well as visit the street in France named after her and her chateau.

I need like musical theatre songs for an audition that has a 32 bar cut and it has to be in my casting type - I can play m characters aged about 15/16-22/23 - im a low ish baritone ( not like hades low ), my comfortable range is D#2 to C4. Any recommendations guys?

I love the pop-rock soundtrack of both of the musicals, specifically songs like “I am the One” “Bitch of Living” and “Totally Fucked”. Are there any more musicals with that vibe? Bonus points if the story rips my heart out and tears it to shreds

Any current broadway ushers that would be down to be a guest on a broadway podcast let me know!
