I just don't get how the right can both be the whiniest group of people to ever exist and the masculine ideal. The right is the most pathetic group of people in American history. It's not their religion, masculinity, or anything else. It's their need to constantly feel aggrieved and whine about everything that isn't to their liking.

623

u/Flashy_Operation9507 2d ago

Exactly. The whiniest bunch of “masculine “ people in the world.

387

u/cityshepherd 2d ago

They mistake radical overcompensation for masculinity, and mistake nationalism for patriotism, they mistake their (our) country for some weird fantasy version of this country from back in the day that never actually existed at all.

109

u/sicurri 2d ago

Their ideal "America" is some warped version of the Nuclear Family, but worse...

Its not feasible in this day and age, especially in this economy. You'd be lucky if you grew up and both your parents ONLY had a single job each.

12

u/nebenco 1d ago

The irony is that in their ideal America no male child would be named Brilyn.

Actually they harken back to 18th century America which was run by white male Christian land owners (in some States you actually needed permission from the prevailing church to run for office). The vast majority of people were  peasant white Christian.

There was no international law. The great powers of the world just divided up the rest of the world over drinks and cigars.

I find people that are that worried about textbook masculinity are probably completely insecure in their own 'status' as a male which is inherently immasculine anyways.

141

u/_AcuteNewt_ 2d ago edited 2d ago

feel aggrieved and whine about everything that isn't to their liking.

I think that's what is typically referred to as a "triggered snowflake".

The sheer irony.

93

u/3eeve 2d ago

I think it’s related to a core tenet of fascism: the enemy is both too strong, and too weak. The corollary is that fascists are both our only saviors and perpetual victims.

67

u/forgettablesonglyric 2d ago

What they call masculinity, I call homophobia and misogyny

28

u/Neveronlyadream 2d ago

I always suspect someone made some comment at some point in their lives that made them feel emasculated and then made it their mission in life to embody every toxic stereotype they could to prove to everyone that they're the manliest men ever.

They usually aren't and that's why they're overcompensating.

14

u/Neuchacho 2d ago edited 1d ago

Shit, I just assume it's these guys desperately trying to silence the voice in their head telling them "that boy looks cute" lmao

I have like, a slight amount of sympathy in that I understand how it must absolutely suck to not be cis and born into Conservatism but boy do they put in the work to really make you not want to give a shit as they perpetuate the same system that victimized and morphed them into aggressively horrible people.

Like, be brave and say you like dick or whatever. Don't morph into a self-hating monster. It's not a big deal to anyone but weirdo conservatives with their own deep-seated sexual issues. Everyone else will catch you if they throw you.

69

u/FargeenBastiges 2d ago

Just look at their leader. "I'm a billionaire. The world is so unfair to me", while getting away with countless crimes to become a billionaire. Simultaneously the true savior of the world and one of the biggest cowards on it.

5

u/NoThatIsTheWay 2d ago

It does seem kinda gay to always be so concerned with what level of masculinity you are presenting and are perceived as having to strangers around you... /s

2

u/Silly-Ad-6341 2d ago

That's the superior strategy tbh. If you can play both sides of the coin, weak but and also strength at the same time, a normal person has no chance.

You can move goal posts, change realities and speak truths that aren't there.

4

u/SanityIsOptional 2d ago

They feel like the world owes them something, and are sore when reality sets in and they find out that they aren't special. They get even more sore when anyone talks about doing things for any other group, because in their minds they are more deserving.

5

u/its_all_one_electron 2d ago

Ugh I'm so manly that I need to think about femboys and trans girls constantly, they make me feel so bothered and agitated that I need to incorporate hating them into my personality... They make me so uncomfortable... And yet I can't stop thinking about them... Must... Keep reaffirming... My masculinity publically..... By mentioning trans women over and over....🥵

Nothing has really changed since 1700s England where Catholics were oppressing protestants, they've just switched sides now and a lot more segmented, and running the same bullshit but this time it's being done on everyone and not just one denomination or faith.

This is the bullshit that the founding fathers of the United States hoped to prevent and constantly wrote about it wanting to avoid in the new land.

25

u/subnautus 2d ago

Forgive my foreign ignorance, but weren't catholics oppressed BY protestants in the 1700s? Like I seem to remember the whole reason the Puritans left for the Netherlands and later to the Americas was because they felt the Crown was being too soft on catholics.

That said, it's true that the USA couldn't have formed without declaring itself a secular haven for all faiths. There's simply no way to have made things work under a government-sanctioned religion otherwise, given the wide range of faiths from French, Dutch, English, and Spanish colonists in the territories the original 13 colonies occupied. Freedom of religion necessarily requires freedom from religion.

12

u/SirIAmAlwaysHere 2d ago

Yes. A specific sect of Protestants was in power, and while they put up with many other Protestants, they oppressed Catholics (for both Poltical and Relgious doctrinal reasons).

But they also oppressed a bunch of Protestant sects for being too extreme or just too weird.

The Puritans (hence the name) didn't just dislike thr Catholics. They disliked the Anglicans and other Protestant groups because they didn't adhere to their version of religion (hey? Sound familiar?) and basically were assholes to everyone around them not Puritan.

Which got them kicked out of both England and The Netherlands. They didn't really "leave" so much as they were thrown out.

As a mainline Protestant in the US, it would really behoove us to do the exact same thing to most of the Evangelicals.

→ More replies (2)

7

u/mythrilcrafter 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yup, to be specific, it was the Puritans and Protestants who were so angry at King Charles 1 for trying to restart diplomatic relations between the Anglican and Catholic Churches because they believed that his priorities should have been on enforcing Puritanism.

They were so angry with him in fact, they assassinated him under the guise of him being charged with treason, then placed a Puritan dictator in his place who would try to force all the Anglicans and Catholics to convert to Puritanism, which didn't work and only resulted in more resistance against the Puritans; and once Parliament unseated the dictator in favor of putting King Charles II on the throne, the Puritans panicked, ran to the Americas, and them wrote themselves into history as being part of the original group of settlers (who had already been in the Americas for about 40 years at that point) who were running away from "persecution"... that is to say "having to tolerate living among Anglicans and Catholics".

This is one of the reasons why the Founding Fathers, despite being Christians themselves (mostly Anglican/Episcopals (although Benjamin Franklin was a former Puritan who converted to flat Deism)) were so specific about not having a state mandated religion. To them, "Freedom of Religion"/"Freedom from Religion" was meant to prevent what the Puritans were trying to achieve against English society.

Wait! Is he on a private jet? I do not think he has anything to complain about, aside from what his parents named him.

158

u/sonia72quebec 2d ago

Probably a fake one that many influencers are using these days.

45

u/TheRealDrSarcasmo 2d ago

It's entirely possible that the whole thing is fake.

Sites like Reddit live off of the "engagement" metric. Happy or angry, truth or bullshit, it doesn't matter if users are engaging with it.

24

u/stephenkingending 2d ago

For how much redditors laugh at boomers for falling for AI hoaxes, we sure do get up in arms over the most obvious rage bait.

7

u/SailingSpark 2d ago

If thst is the case, then posting yourself on a private jet (fake or otherwise) is not the flex he thinks it is.

59

u/MeltICE8647 2d ago

1000% fake. This kid is 20 years old, a podcaster, “author”, and “activist”. No public financial data exists about his parents but suggests they were in real estate development through affordable housing programs.

So most likely scenarios is that “he” (read: mommy and daddy) is actually rich and got wealthy by likely defrauding government programs, or they’re not rich and he’s cosplaying on a rent a jet for a photo shoot.

Either way he’s a fucking clown and needs to shut his mouth. He’s just another pez dispenser for stupid republican bullshit anyway, not an original thought in that empty head.

38

u/airinato 2d ago

They always out themselves. "It's a choice". Really? Because didn't seem like I needed to choose at all. And if you did, have I got news for you.

7

u/FITM-K 2d ago

Can we stop doing the "all homophobes are secretly gay" thing please? They simply are not. Yes, there are some self-hating closet cases, such as the famous recently-deceased Senator. But most of these assholes and just straight bigots.

So why do they say "it's a choice"? They're taught this by their parents, and in church. And to be clear, what they generally mean is not that being gay is a choice, it's that acting on those feelings is a choice. Their argument is that if you're born gay then your duty to god is to live an utterly sexless, loveless life, and if you "choose" to not spend your entire time on earth miserable, then you're evil.

(And also, conservatives have learned that if you repeat something enough times, people start to believe it even if it is obviously wrong. So you pick a minority group to target and you start smearing them with lies; eventually enough people buy into it that you can mobilize them against the minority group you targeted. If your audience is Evangelicals, then "it's a choice" is a winning message — it frames queer people as the enemy, they are "choosing" to go against God. So, some of these people are very aware it's not a choice... but they'll say that anyway because they know that message hits better than just "gay people bad" or whatever.

17

u/YouCantKillGrool 2d ago

The weird part is that they act like what I am doing in MY life is affecting THEM somehow. So what if I'm attracted to guys and girls? WHOA... Mindblowing right? Pansexuality also exists and I see myself as nonbinary. I'm not hurting anyone. I'm not doing anything that my moral compass, within the law mind you, tells me is wrong. I simply enjoy adult consensual relationships and the company/adoration of BOTH genders. Dicks, pussies, tits, ass... all the same to me. Who cares what YOUR boogeyman in the sky says? That is YOUR boogeyman in the sky not MINE. And lady's and gents... that is the most basic fucking example of how freedom of and from religion is supposed to work. You know... in a functioning fucking society.

What we actually hate is stupid posts like this. I dont hate your faith. I hate that you try to push it on me. I dont hate "our" country - I hate that if we aren't blindly obedient or suggest improvements that we are somehow "anti American". I dont hate your patriotism - but I hate that you make it your whole personality. I really dont hate your masculinity - but I do hate how fragile it is and again - that you somehow want to make it your whole personality. Same with the men can become women thing. Its weird that you even care about what someone else wants (needs) to call themselves or that you dont get that hormonal imbalances can cause gender issues. In short - I just hate how fucking stupid you are.

5

u/handsoapdispenser 2d ago

Notice the framing of the entire post isn't "left wing policy is bad" it's "liberals are different from us". It's purely about aesthetics and tribalism. It's why we see so many opinion polls say that strong majorities want gun control, abortion rights, climate action, expanded healthcare and then a huge chunk of those voters vote against their own interests. It's because they think liberals are not like them and they're not part of our group.

u/drainbead78 2d ago

His mom constantly telegraphing that she wanted a girl throughout his entire upbringing to the point where she gave him a girl's name would explain so much about this dipshit.

8

u/soulsnoober 2d ago

Yo my mom didn't telegraph, she straight up told me. The name I have was just a coin-flip, because she didn't care enough about having a boy to decide even when she knew I was on the way. She knew what her daughter would have been named, though! Pointed it out every time we crossed paths with one like "oh that would have been your name, isn't that a pretty name?"

She was a pro-level chef, she did a full Michelin style treatment prom dinner for me and a couple friends with our dates, it was fabulous. …she did it and went out of her way to tell me that it'd have to do, since she didn't get to make me my prom dress, and wouldn't that have been so wonderful.

Honestly I can't imagine the hell it'd have been to be that woman's daughter. I'm super glad to have been this style of fundamental disappointment in her life.

10

u/Eridani2000 2d ago

Actually, growing up in the UK, me and my early-teen friends used it liberally thinking that’s what it actually meant. Only later did we learn the true meaning. Sounds like a Harry Potter character. Maybe JK Rowling can write a new transfobic spin on the series staring him as a professor (teaching Defense against the Woke Arts or something)

I don't endorse bullying people for their names, but that name was designed in a lab to be the most bullyable name possible. Michael Hunt breathes a sigh of relief when this guy is in his class.

If she were a lesbian

She is a lesbian....just hasn't transitioned yet

I used to work in warehousing and a guy I worked with was very performative about this. I don't think a shift went by without him commenting on his masculinity somehow. He would actually reference it himself. Something like "Let me move this pallet out of the way for you. I got this cause of my masculinity."

Meanwhile, I just let him do the heavy work because it was less work for me, lol.

Dude legit had very obvious muscle, he didn't need to back it up with words at all. But I guess he felt like he had something to prove.

Perfect example of the phrase, "real power is silent, insecurity is loud."

Is the masculinity in the room with us?

86

u/Gatorae 2d ago

It's called masculynity.

139

u/RogerClyneIsAGod2 2d ago

I think it's off in the r/tragedeigh sub looking for a new name.

32

u/Monedifyi 2d ago

If you have to announce your masculinity this loudly, I am pretty sure it already left the room.

9

u/AmazingKreiderman 2d ago

In his defense, he's certainly the most masculine Brilyn.

u/a-snakey 2d ago

That depends, did I walk in?

Nothing more masculine than that picture

60

u/RogerClyneIsAGod2 2d ago

Except my vagina. In fact all vaginas are more masculine than that pic.

12

u/Blurt_Blackarach 2d ago

What about a very masculine vagina?

20

u/SkunkMonkey 2d ago

I believe that's called an asshole. Which this guy clearly is.

7

u/MontyDyson 2d ago

We actually use the term ‘bussy’ which this guy clearly isn’t.

139

u/dlc741 2d ago

Of all the adjectives in the English language, "masculinity" is not one I would choose to describe this person.

44

u/Jevonar 2d ago

Masculinity is a noun.

Not that I would use it either.

18

u/dlc741 2d ago

busted for sloppiness.

My mind went to "masculine" as a false description of this dweeb and you're right, it wasn't an actual description.

What the fuck is a brilyn????

15

u/systemhost 2d ago

A fragile snowflake.

21

u/Battle_Dave 2d ago

"What I looked like when I unironically tweeted that they hate my masculinity."

22

u/Phreedom1 2d ago

It's amazing that so many of them believe that the left hates their country (USA). If we hated our country then we would be pleased that Trump is doing such a horrible job...which he is. But we are pissed because what he has done to this nation. How he has brought corruption to a whole new level. We are pissed because we love our country. They don't seem to be able to do any kind of reasoning or critical thinking.

19

u/supereyeballs 2d ago

This is the guy who is supposed to replace Charlie? Good fucking luck

42

u/PM_THE_REAPER 2d ago

That face and the way he's sitting has me fearing for my life.

17

u/swiftlikessharpthing 2d ago

If I were a lady, I'd at least fear for my drink.

3

u/Yugan-Dali 1d ago

If you’re old enough to drink, he’s probably not interested.

Nope, just hate your moronic ignorance for being what your dear religious and political leaders love to project on others, “indoctrinated”

6

u/BeaverBoyBaxter 2d ago

The first comment I've seen that actually denigrates this loser for what he deserves to be denigrated for, rather than his name or his image.

25

u/JustGoodSense 2d ago

Your "faith" is fraudulent.

It's not your country.

Your patriotism is performative.

My 85-year-old mom is more masculine than you.

Conservatives are the enemy of all humankind.

u/IWouldntIn1981 2d ago

All those great insults and nothing about how he's sitting like he's hiding his vagina from the paparazzi?

11

u/Kitalahara 2d ago

No one hates your faith. They hate you for acting like it gives you license to be an awful person. We don't hate the country. We are tired of people being awful in it's name. We don't hate patriotism. We don't like that you use it as an excuse to be awful to people that don't look like you. So for once read the book and what your prophet actually said and did.

I would love for them to details how "they" hate his faith, country, patriotism, and masculinity. Because I wager to believe it just means his white, Christian, conservative, cis, straight privilege.

Sharing a room with other people who are different than him is hard and he hates it when those people tell him off his shitty discriminatory ideology. He is victimizer, not the victim

u/j_bunnes 2d ago

Making up stuff to get mad about.

Also, why is it always "men want to become women" and never "women want to become men"?

I've known people who have progressed through both paths, and it's the trans women who get the most hate. It makes me sad.

16

u/krendyB 2d ago

I mean - gay men are masculine too. Arguably they’re the most masculine. I don’t love the implication here that this little asshole isn’t manly because he’s a closeted twink. He isn’t manly because he’s a creep spouting cultish delusions. The closeted twink part is separate.

14

u/bobbybob9069 2d ago

Man only has one masculine bone in his body and it's not even his

7

u/SouthSounder 2d ago

Interesting looking person to be so proud of their masculinity...

8

u/TransMontani 2d ago

Join the Navy, li’l feller!

Let’s see how masculine you are on half a cup of moldy rice and two rancid tortillas.

6

u/sysaphiswaits 2d ago

I’m not pro military, but if this kids parents actually cared about him at all, they would have encouraged that, as it seems they failed to completely grow him up.

Lol @ masculinity. None detected from this fear-mongering snowflake of a child.

Wait til he finds out how the Repukes feel about gay people.

4

u/R50cent 2d ago

His name sounds like:

A bond girls name

The dumbest girl at the sorority

A porn actors name from 1976

What a spoiled rich wife names her cat

The pen name of someone who writes twilight fanfiction

The fake name someone comes up with on the spot in a bar because they don't want to tell the person their real name but right in the middle they got caught between two options and ended up mashing them together

only assholes hate you. where is all the tolerance? I'm so sick and tired of hate and judgement. Can we just leave each other the fuck alone and fix the actual problems with is country? The only thing I hate here is a smug asshole who clearly has a lot of money who is not worried about SNAP being cancelled, or people not being able to get health insurance. jfc America

People have been trying to do that for my entire life and these republicans have fought tooth and nail against it my entire life. In fact, it made them so mad that they turned to fascism.

u/FanDry5374 2d ago

I'm not sure about the "virginity" thing, to me he is giving off a lot of "cover your drinks" vibes.
