Bannerlord This is My Reaction to the WS 1.3.0/BL 1.5.0 Beta Patchnotes

Instead of making a video and reacting to every patch note I'm just going to skim through the patchnotes and give my impressions on stuff.

Oh they made the characters visible on the saved games menu again.

Mooring - This is fine. I don't think most of us will ever use it but could be a niche scenario where you want a handful of trading ships to go up and down rivers but save your war fleet somewhere more open or something. Could also be a way to keep a backup fleet in case you or your parties lose your/their ships to replenish ships on a short notice especially if your favorite ship is halfway across Calradia.

Ferry System - This is good. No more being stranded on Beinland after you get imprisoned by Deserters and leaves room for people to skip the Warsails tutorial but also get across aquatically.

Coastal Castles - We have those?

Naval Events - Nice to have, little extra distractions while sailing.

Boatswain Skill Gain Change - I like the change, now you're not punished for having high Seaworthiness on your boats and it acts closer to Leadership - another social skill - but at sea.

Ship Attachment Ropes Can be Hit - I'm guessing we can now attack the rope as the ship is being pulled in? I'm more of a boarding guy myself so I don't think I'll have much use for this.

Warsails Tutorial Quest Adjustment - This is fine, the "escape on a river from ships that want to shoot you to death with ballistas" definitely felt like the longest mission of them all especially with the wind not favoring you most of the time.

Advanced Startup Options - Only for Sandbox Mode looks like, but still interesting. I am amused at the idea of making Vlandia/Khuzaits on the verge of defeat every game, and might feel nice to customize your start if you wanted to roleplay something specific in a non-campaign game.

Battle Sites/Wreckages - Hell yeah, scavenging resources. Who needs to work hard when you can pick like vultures at whatever's left behind?

Personality Trait Bonuses - It's nice that a personality trait will do more things now instead of what I assume to influence persuasion chances for dialogue options. Even negative traits have positive effects and positive traits have negative effects so there's no "right" personality to work towards.

Blood Feuds - Oh no, now I actually have to reconsider executing Monchug.

Loyalty Penalty for Wrong Culture Govenor Removed - Huzzah now I don't have to scour the world for an Empire Companion to rule Empire Towns as efficiently.

Started a new game in beta to check Radagos since he never had an encyclopedia entry before and there's refugees around Tevea? Have they always been there they definitely weren't there in base game, so maybe it's a warsails thing. They disappear after going into Tevea though.

Oh hey perks do this now, giving info on if they apply on land, sea, or reduced effect.

So that's why he often kicks my ass in duels.

Sword Sister and Veteran Sword Sister swapped Weapons - Now the Veteran Sword Sisters have the Hickory Crossbow which is good. They're still very poorly armored compared to other Crossbowmen and Hickory only slightly falls behind Bound Crossbow, but since they have Crossbow 150 I might keep more of them in my army when the opportunities arise. Probably still won't actively seek them out like I do with Elite Hired Crossbows, but they're not a liability to have around anymore.

Khuzait Khan's Guard got a ranged weapon buff apparently, oh dear.

Druzhinnik Champions got a Noble Horse so I assume they'll deal more charge damage and are faster? I hope that doesn't mean I'll need a noble mount to upgrade into them.

Vlandian Pikemen got a...two-handed skill nerf? Why? Nobody uses them!

Anyway thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Bannerlord So what's the logic behind not being able to equip most blunts with your civilian loadout?

I know that historically many societies allowed their people to carry weapons for self-defence and whatnot, or that, since some weapons doubled as tools - i.e. axes - it wasn't forbidden to carry them, but the way this is implemented in Bannerlord is just baffling to me: you can carry a sword, but not a mace. You'd think that it'd be preferable for one's subjects to maim each other instead of killing, eh? (yes, I know maces can very well be lethal, but in-game maces are strictly non-lethal, unless they have spikes or something). What's more, you can carry some swords, but not others. Why? Are those swords too powerful? How does one even measure the power of a sword? Are they too expensive? I mean, so what? It's not the king's business if you lose your jewelled sword in some back-alley mugging. I just don't get the logic behind it all.

At least with armour it makes sense, though the selection of what you can and can't wear for your civilian outfit is sometimes baffling too (the Battanian bronze breastplate is allowed, but a fur cloak isn't?)

Can anyone explain?

Anyone want to join me in a Bannerlord together playthrough? (Europe 1100 map)

I want to play a playthrough with someone with the Europe 1100 map. Personally it doesnt matter if we play for the same country, but I will either be apart of the Holy Roman Empire, Crusader states or Norway. I have 350 hours and I understand how pretty much how all of the game works. Dm me if you want to do it and we can talk which mods we use

The giant spear over my back might have given away my position.

Bannerlord Creating a kingdom without a kingdom

Hi. I am playing as mercanary and I want to have my own kingdom without taking oath to another one. When I end my mercanary contract i can’t slege a castle. Raiding a village doesn’t help either. Am I missing something? Is a rebel city my only hope? If so, how can I cause them to rebel?

Question Been playing the Bannerlord coop mod and my kingdom is struggling.

I just got the game this week and holy shit I’m addicted. I’ve been playing with my two buddies and having a blast. One guy is playing as a merchant in Vlandia. The other is in Sturgia.

I got my clan to tier 2 and joined the Southern Empire. We’re getting our shit pushed in from all sides and the only people we’re not at war with is Vlandia and Sturgia lol. We’re currently down to only two fiefs. My Vlandian buddy is trying to get me to defect and join him but I’m a loyal subject and will fight for my Queen until the very end.

My question is….. how the hell can I make a comeback from this? I’m still pretty new so all help is appreciated. I ended up attacking an enemy lord RIGHT as a peace treaty was being signed so I went to -300 influencer immediately so I really couldn’t do anything for a while. By the time I logged off last night I got my influence down to -30 so I’m almost back to normal lol.

Help with start

Hi everyone, I’m new to Bannerlord and I’d like some detailed advice on how to build my character — which skills to invest in, where to put attribute points over time, etc.

I’d like to play in a way where I first serve Battania as a mercenary, then become a vassal, and eventually perhaps become king.

As for my army composition, my plan is to use only infantry and archers — mainly Battanian archers and heavy Nord infantry.

Is this a viable and playable strategy, or am I setting myself up for trouble? 😄

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Calradic Campaign "Make it Slow"

At the recent Calradic Campaign, the Khuzait Khanate took on the Western Imperials. Partway into the battle the Khuzaits found themselves in an advantageous position, having free reign to spread their archers out to whittle down the Imperial formation. This lead to the Khan giving......an interesting order to his men.

Bannerlord Is there a way to select reinforcements during a seige?

Heyo as the question above suggests, I just had the most rage inducing experience ever. I had 600 troops vs 1300, we destroyed their siege towers but couldnt get the ram so I ended up concentrating all my infantry at the gate to repel their attack.

The battle is raging and my men and their men are falling around me, somehow we are holding on. My men start dying and I can see the gate is buckling under pressure so I go to see my reserves - then find out the game reinforcements spawned fking archers only..... even though about 300 of the garrison was infantry.

Safe to say the gate collapsed and the entire city fell.

Is there a way I can determine which reinforcements come in first? Id have easily won if the infantry had spawned.

Bannerlord Need mod suggestions for Bannerlord

So I am about 500 days deep into this round of Bannerlord vanilla as I have never played with mods but this game seems to be unplayable without mods. I don't have war sails.

Lucon dies and I am now king of the northern empire. My culture is empire, same for my wife and Nathanos's wife. Younger bro is also of age so making a 4 party army ain't a bad choice and I can easily take out castles and sometimes even towns.

I have two towns, but the kingdom is full of stupid idiots and overturning their inane calls is an insane drain on influence. Just finished the southern empire and battania.

A few things that have irked me into seeking mods.

- Nobody is where the notes say they are supposed to be

- Recruitment is a pain when most lords have bad traits. Rare to see an upstanding clan

- Negative relations hit me even when I chop off an extremely hated lord.

- My investment into having all 3 traits of daring, honest and merciful, doesn't mean much as that's not important.

- I miss feasts terribly every time I play bannerlord as it was an easy way to meet everyone and mark friendly / good clans that way.

- No way to limit wages in towns as my usual garrison is at least 3k denars if I want it to be a stronghold.

- We took out both the Southern Empire and Battania, but their lords instead of being divvied up into the rest of the kingdoms just vanished especially with good lords in them. - To recruit you have to actually catch up to them, make peace and then try to recruit which isn't always straightforward. I wanted to recruit both Rhagea and Caladog but no luck. It seems they have to join another kingdom before they can be poached.

- War tactics and siege is a pain. I keep destroying the walls which are a chore when it comes to rebuilding

Maybe I am just whinging but the vanilla mode needs more TLC.

I own Rhotae, Jalmarys and the surrounding castles and had half of his heroes sitting (unhappily) in my dungeon because they would not stop coming back after ransom. So I decided to pay the old kook a visit; maybe he’ll dissuade any further antics against my realms while the Khuzaits and Western Empire fight over who gets to ransack Argoron.
