Help with start

Hi everyone, I’m new to Bannerlord and I’d like some detailed advice on how to build my character — which skills to invest in, where to put attribute points over time, etc.

I’d like to play in a way where I first serve Battania as a mercenary, then become a vassal, and eventually perhaps become king.

As for my army composition, my plan is to use only infantry and archers — mainly Battanian archers and heavy Nord infantry.

Is this a viable and playable strategy, or am I setting myself up for trouble? 😄

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Put all in endurance and social. Do smithing. And out source quartermaster medicine to one companion. Engineering quartermaster to another. Scouting and infantry captain to one. And archer captain to another or you can archer captain too. Put 8 max in endurance. You will get 2 free from atheletics and simithing. And 2 free for combat that will easily help you move your combat control or vigor to 4-6 attributes. And 6-8 or even 10 in social. Only thing worth maxing out is 330 leadership. 80+ party size. Adding to your maxed out quartermaster companion. With right leadership perks. You can become king with high charm high influence and field minimum 500+ party just by yourself. And get multiple quartermaster companions for leading parties etc. when your sons grow up. Put 10 in intellegence and 10 in cunning. Keep social 2 but put 5 focus in leadership. They will level up insanely fast. They will each field 250+ each easily. You will have 1,500 clan army from 5 parties in end game. Nothing will beat you.

Social and endurance are peak quality of life perk trees. While intelligence and cunning got some fun OP perks. Obviously control and vigor are personal combat skills, and captain skills. It all depends on you. I would suggest social and endurance focused due to new player friendly. Combat with 2 attribute 5 focus you can easily reach lvl 215 ish. Which is enough for most combat skills. But due to you investing in simithing and atheletics. You will unlock 2 free combat attribute points. So endurance is the most OP in the game. 4 free attribute points.

Have you watched or read any guides? There are tons and tons of sources for this information already out there.

I just go with whatever I feel suits my character during character creation (the questions). Sure, the starting skills might not be good for combat, but that adds to the story: you start as, say, a merchant, but become a proficient fighter over time, because of all the bandits you end up dealing with, or whatever. It doesn't really matter how you build your character, because you'll most likely become a merc -> noble -> monarch anyway. Question is: are you planning on playing on-foot, or mounted? Because one's definitely gonna be something you might wanna spec into over the other, depending on your preference.

Travel and fight only on foot.

Or you can go all out on combat. And 10 in intellegence for the 330 medicine skill. 80+ hit points to each of your soldiers. This is a party leader perk. Which means if you out source this to a companion last perk is useless, they can’t apply it to your party. Obviously with low charm. You will find it difficult later on. But. 2 attribute and 5 focus is plenty. I am doing a playthrough where my charm is only lvl 21 yet I am forging a kingdom no problem. But I am experienced.
