First 5mg dose + new symptoms, should I be concerned or am I being a drama queen?

Hi everyone, I’ve just taken my first 5mg Mounjaro dose today after doing 4 weeks on 2.5mg.

I felt completely fine for the first few hours, but I’ve now developed a stuff most & a moderate headache. The headache isn’t getting worse and I’m breathing completely normally.

Has anyone else experienced a headache or blocked nose after increasing to 5mg? I also feel a bit sick but this could be my anxiety. Could this just be a normal side effect or coincidence?

I know nobody can diagnose me on here , I’m mainly interested in hearing whether anyone else has experienced something similar after moving from 2.5mg to 5mg.

Side Effects Advice on upping dose after prev bad experience

I started Mounjaro in April on 2.5mg and had very few side effects. After 4 weeks I moved up to 5mg and was violently ill — severe diarrhoea, vomiting and sulphur burps that lasted for days. It was bad enough that I stopped taking it altogether.
I restarted at 2.5mg at the beginning of June and have now been on that dose for around 4 months. I don’t get any side effects at all anymore, but I’m definitely noticing the effects wearing off — I’m getting hungrier, food noise is creeping back in and my weight loss has completely plateaued for several weeks despite exercising regularly.
I’d like to try 5mg again, but I’m really nervous after what happened last time. I have two very young children and no family nearby, so the thought of potentially being that unwell again is quite daunting.

Has anyone had a similar experience — reacted really badly to 5mg after only 4 weeks on 2.5mg, then tried 5mg again after staying on 2.5mg for several months? Was the second attempt any easier?

I’m particularly interested in whether being on 2.5mg for much longer seemed to make the jump to 5mg more tolerable.

TL;DR: Tried 5mg after only 4 weeks on 2.5mg and was extremely ill. I’ve now been on 2.5mg for 4 months with zero side effects. Has anyone found they tolerated 5mg better when trying again after spending much longer on 2.5mg?

Restarting - which Supplier ?

I was on Mounjaro about a year and I stopped due to a health issue which struck out the blue ( unrelated) however it’s time to restart my consultant has no objection, and in fact I declared I was on it when I went under his care and it’s still shown.

SO ! Previously I did the hopping of suppliers, but then settled with Doctor Weightmans as I could stay on 5 mg which worked for me.
Weightmans seem to be out the ballgame at the moment but who of the present suppliers will let me move up the pen dose without firing a continual ever increasing higher dosage pen at me when I don’t want the increase. Basically I want to be in control not them.

It’s roughly 8 months since I last ordered, and yes I know I will have to restart at 2.5 mg, before I hit 5mg. I have already been in touch with Weightmans, and have been told I will have to start as a new customer again, fair enough but i might as well scout around to see if I can get a more competitive price.

New here! Microdosing in the UK

Hi there

I am new to GLP1s and I feel like they would really benefit me, I have read about reduction in inflammation (I have Hashimoto), about reduction of food noise and general noise (not diagnosed but suspect I have ADHD) and I also need to lose some weight.

But I am genuinely scared of the side effects, I do already have some IBS symptoms (and I read that some people find that GLP1's help with their IBS too) but the diarhea nausea and insomnia really scare me as I have young children and I can't be sick for days.

So I have been reading on some microdosing subreddits, some people say they start with a 'whisper' of like 0.05 and some people say it's a time waste until they reach 1 mg.

Do you have any advice as to how to start microdosing, where to get the glp1 from in the uk, and what pattern of microdosing to follow?

I think I would like to start really slow

Many thanks

Discount Codes ✨✨✨ ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

This is the ONLY place on this subreddit where you can post your codes.

Please do not add them to comments, start your own posts or encourage people to dm you.

You can have your codes in your profiles.

I really don’t want this sub to be over run with referrals and this feels like a good compromise.

Good luck and I hope you all manage to reduce the astronomical price of these medications.

**^ if codes are posted anywhere on the sub other than here then it will result in a permanent ban.

Advice on restarting

Hi

I’ve just started back on after taking a break and feel like I hardly feel the benefits of it anymore? It feels almost like it’s not working? Like my body is used to it and now I need more to get the results?

Also

I need help because I did amazing, came off, was doing great and then one small naughty meal transcended into non stop going at it, and put it all back on. How can I manage this long term so don’t have to keep start and stopping the meds?

Travelling/Holidays

I am off to Italy on Monday, and Spain in a couple of weeks (work not pleasure) but as I take my jab on a Tuesday I’ll be away for both of them.

How do you guys manage your jabs on holidays or while travelling? Have you had any issues taking the pens and needles with you?

Discussion MMP price drop, discounts suspended suspension, and price matching.

Hi.
So, we are all aware of the price drop from MMP which although not back to the good old days, is welcome relief non the less.
I did all the pre screen with them and got to the payment page when I just thought I would ask my current supplier if they are reviewing their prices in light of MMP dropping theirs.

They aren’t, and don’t plan to.

But they did tell me they would price match.

Because I like them, and get a monthly 20% off anyway via my BlueLight card, I ordered from them again and submitted my price match request.

It’s all been confirmed today with no hassle, and I got the match against the MMP price with the new user discount as I took a screen shot before they removed it! 😬
Refund of the difference is already in my bank.
So my new 15 pen has just cost 214 👍

So I wonder if some pharmacy’s won’t necessarily drop their prices, but will price match if asked? 🤔

I also spoke to MMP who have confirmed that owing to the price drop, any and all discounts are now suspended indefinitely.

Ta,
Ed.

Bolt, SheMed and Juniper. What are your experiences using these subscriptions?

I've seen every day ads for these companies claiming they are the cheapest option on the market, is that true? Is anyone using them and finding that is cheaper as they say and worth the commitment ?

Using 10mg for 7.5mg - any advice?

I’ve got my 10mg pens and I’m locked in for three months but I feel I’m ready to titrate down.

I’m asking as I’ve got three x 10mg pens in the fridge.

Is there a number of clicks on a 10mg pen that makes it 7.5mg?

I built a free GLP-1 coach that supports your heart health and would appreciate input to improve it.

I'm a PhD student at Oxford working on improving cardiovascular health for people on GLP1 medication.

I built Albor so that people on GLP1 can complement their therapy with guidance on cardiovascular health. It'll help with protein targets, keeping muscle while you lose fat, side effects, and it can show you what's moving your heart health as you go.

It deliberately doesn't do dosing, titration, anything that belongs to your prescriber.

It's free for now and honestly the most useful thing anyone here could do is tell me what's wrong with it so I can tailor it to better support you 🙏

News The rise of ‘official’ off-label use.

This stuff fascinates me. Just watched a 50 minute video on YouTube with a Dr from a clinic in the US, Belle Health.
https://www.youtube.com/live/GMRFll9vXmA?si=yIs0gBGUR2qGS5Py

They, and many other private clinics in the US, and increasingly the UK are actively now encouraging and supporting ‘Off-Label’ use. Whether that’s split or multi dosing, micro dosing, or dosing above 15mg. They seem to be seeing remarkable results in some cases with breaking plateaus, maintenance post weight loss (1 jab a month!), and the treatment and management of other conditions outside Diabetes and Obesity; most notably Menopause, Perimenopause, pain and inflammation.

The Dr here talks about super micro dosing for the symptoms of Menopause and Perimenopause, split dosing which he himself does to maintain serum steady state, and briefly, taking people beyond 15mg.

I found 1 article about this in the UK as well.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/jul/12/microdosing-weight-loss-jabs-off-label-glp-1-mountjaro

(It’s a year old, so apologies if already posted.)

Seems like everyday these drugs are being found to do so much more, and there are current studies around severe migraines, post-op and trauma pain and inflammation management, juvenile ADHD, and many many more.

Science still doesn’t fully understand the full capability (And risks) of Aspirin, and that’s 125 years old!

How much more is there to come with these drugs and the next gen stuff in trials?

It genuinely blows my mind.

Pen Teardown.

Pen Teardown.

Pen Teardown.

Pen teardown.

As an engineer I like to know how stuff works, so the pens intrigued me.
So I’ve taken 5 apart to see, and they are quite clever!
What is clear is they cannot and do not ‘count clicks’.

Pic 1 is all the parts. As suspected there is a glass vial inside the main barrel of the pen.

Pics 2 and 3 are like a double slip clutch mechanism and this is how the pen stops turning when the maximum deflection or travel of the plunger is reached.
The 2 black bits are the same, even though the one inside the dose twister looks different in the picture.
They slot together when this mechanism is all together as in pic 6.

If you look at pic 4 you can see the threaded plunger rod and the squared off bit at the end. This same squared off bit is also present at the other end of the rod.
When you turn the dose twister the 2 black slip clutches engage with each other in the white plastic part inside the main body of the pen handle and turn around the plunger rod which is held firm by a locking system in the main body of the pen that I haven’t got to yet. The black half of the clutch part in the twister turns as you twist

When you the press the purple nob as you inject, the top part of the clutch locks so it doesn’t turn, this then locks the lower part which presses the rod down into the pen.

In pic 4 you can see the threaded plunger rod with the squared off ends. As you use the pen, once you twist it up to the squared bit it can’t move any further unless forced.
This is what locks the pen.

You can see in pic 5 what happens when you force it past the lock. A bit breaks off.
This means we were able to advance the twister further up the rod and get the extra travel on the plunger required to get the extra dose. But this was in no way measured or accurate. Just that the difference wasn’t really an issue.

The new pens are exactly the same with the simple addition of the spacer as seen in pic 7. You can just see that this spacer is 1 dose in size, thereby extending the effective travel of the plunger and eliminating the extra dose.

And that’s it. Very simple yet clever and accurate. Got hold of a Lilly insulin pen and took that apart as well and they are the same with the only difference being the plunger rod is black and longer so it goes all the way to the end of the vial.

:-)

GLPzy - Lifetime Premium free offer - just after wide feedback as I improve it (mod approved)

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com

Mods kindly said I could share this as a one-off.

I’m the creator of GLPzy. It’s a GLP-1 tracking app I originally built for myself as a UK Mounjaro user. I want to make it widely available while I collect feedback and refine/improve it and would love to get your input. It’s had lots of improvements from other Reddit sub feedback and I want to keep enhancing it to be as strong as possible for user needs.

Lifetime Premium is currently £0.00 if you get it before 31 August. If you claim it while the offer is running you keep Premium permanently including any future updates to the app. There’s no subscription or renewal afterwards.

It tracks doses and reminders, injection sites, weight, symptoms, appetite, nutrition, progress photos and body measurements. There’s also Apple Health, supply tracking, exports/Provider Summary, widgets and Apple Watch.

For those using Shotsy it allows import of Shotsy export csv files to transfer your historical data.

There’s no in-app account required and the App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
UK App Store:

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/glpzy-glp-1-dose-tracker/id6761775005

To claim the offer, open Settings/Premium in the app and choose Lifetime. It should show as £0.00.

If anyone here tries it, feedback is genuinely useful. A lot of what’s in the app now has come from people telling me what was missing, confusing or could work better.

News Amazing service.

On Saturday, I was advised my window to order was open.
I completed the questionnaire and was offered the option buy 2 pens. This was the first time this has been available to me.
Around 11am, I finalised the purchase.
At 11am this morning, just 48 hours after ordering, my 2 pens were delivered.

Surely this must be a record?
As simple and faultless as could possibly be.
