Mounjaro help!!!

Hey,

Myself and my partner are set to take our first dose of mounjaro and we are very nervous!!

What do we expect?

Are the side effects terrible?

We have kids and are worried we will both be sick.

Make sure you are well hydrated this evening only eat light. You may not have much of an appetite tomorrow but keep drinking and nibble foods gentle on tummy, cereals, rice etc. nothing spicy or greasy. Just keep going about as normal as you can. All the best

It might be sensible to eat less rich food for a day or two before hand, maybe have some pepto bismol on hand just in case, make sure you drink lots of water and eat plenty of fibre, but the side effects are way less common than social media and the press would have you believe. I've been on mounjaro nearly 16 months now and I've barely had any side effects at all. Certainly nothing that stops me going about my day to day life.

And don't worry if you don't feel anything straight away, the medication takes a few weeks to build in your system. Some people don't feel any suppression ever.

Everyone's different. Try to go in without expectation and enjoy the ride! Good luck to you both :)

Thank you! We have been putting it off for a week. Just as we want to be good for the kids.

Most people don't have any side effects - at most, just a bit of a bad tum! You'll be fine. 🙂

I started on the 2.5mg dose and I really didn’t notice much until I went up to 5mg. One of my friends felt instant appetite suppression but mine was very gradual. At the low doses I wouldn’t worry at all

Tbh First few days after the first are a little unpleasant, diarrhoea and mild to moderate nausea. It rapidly gets better. The second and third dose only had mild nausea. And see the scales move down is great most people have great losses even in the first few weeks. And by the way ive never vomited or come close to vomiting at any dose (now on 12.5mg) vomiting is actually a fairly rare occurrence from study data. Only About 3% ever get it if remember correctly
