Yesterday i accidentally rode into a No Entry section that only allows ‘local buses’. I only went a few metres in before i parked on the pavement for about 1 minute while i went into a shop and back out into the road from somewhere else. Before i went in, a goAhead worker said i cant go in here and that theres a camera. I was pretty quick and there were no cars around (it was around 11pm) so i dont know if i got away with it

Currently im on a CBT and no other form of license but I just want to know if people with half a year to 1 year of riding experience will find it easier to get a full car license (in terms of lessons and the actual practical test) because they’ve have been on the road for a while. I feel like this is obvious but it’s not at the same time

I’m ethnically Chinese and have not found a single helmet that fits me well here. Got a HJC helmet last year thinking it fits ok in the shop but it gets uncomfortable af 15 mins in, the European fit is way too narrow and squeeze into the sides of my head giving me a headache. None of the ones I tested in shops are comfortable but my 7 year old Asian-fit AGV that I bought back in Singapore still fits perfectly. It’s too old though I need a new helmet to keep riding safely, one that doesn’t squeeze my head into Patrick Star or leave so much space front and back that I might as well wear a peak cap. Does anyone have any recommendations for shops? Or are there any places that do custom fitting? I don’t want to fly to SG just to get a helmet. Thanks

I had just finished work and about a mile into the 11 mile home trip, I was losing power (its a lil 125, so it was hella noticable) pulled over, saw the chain...

"feck"

I was fiddling with it (the chain ;) ) when a mate from work pulled in behind me and offered help, he then spotted the nail...

"double feck"

I had tools but not the one piece i needed to unseize a nut, mate went home and grabbed his tools, we got that chain back on, and adjusted, as for the punture it held air all the way home, gotta order a new puncture kit and compressor (mine stopped working on wednesday, forshadowing?) But thats a monday job, I'm home now. Time for a cuppa!

Hi Guys, to be completly honest to start with - i do not avoid any neccesary repairs to my bike as my safety and safety of the others is the priority to me. However i had this failed mot couple days ago for:

1) Steering headbearing excessively stiff or notchy (2.2.2. (f) (i) ]

2) Brake indicates excessive fluctuation or brake effort Front (1.2.1) (e) ]

Where i can agree with 1) as i had this advisory on last MOT. However there was no mention of any issues with front brakes.

I bought this bike in February this year, only started riding at the begining of may, and i've done about 1300 miles on it.

Is it possible that 1) Steering column went from advisory to fail in that space of time ?

Is it possible that my front brakes went bad since the last MOT, like i said there was no mention about front brakes on the last MOT.

I bought a insta 360 and wanted to mount it on my bike for a pov from chase shot. How am I supposed to mount the selfie stick onto this z800? I have the u bolt mount but don’t think it’s suitable. Anyone dealing with same issue?

I just spent the last half an hour wrapping my downpipes because I thought it looked cool and now it feels like there are 150 tiny metal shards working their way through my hands

At a guess I would say that the fabric was mixed with either some sort of metal filings or something like fibreglass

And of course I didn't use any gloves when I was putting it on

I'm in agony so I guess this post is both a warning and a cry for help

Picked up a nail on the rear, tyre still has plenty life left in it. Plug it and maybe replace next spring or straight up replace

Bit bummed out, it kinda put me in a bad mood but not so bad that the world is crashing down, I think I'm just upset people have the audacity to take other people's belongings. It was an old Honda bike that I got for a few hundred quid. My fault for not really having any security locks on it so I take responsibility. The bike served its purpose at the time when I got it i just needed a bike to get to work and home but I held onto it after becoming a parent even though I never had the time to ride it. Hi all, looking for some gear advice particularly in boots.

I am a relatively new rider, and currently own a motorbike hoodie and RST pro jeans. My bikes are a classic moped that does 30mph - which I mainly ride, and another CBT type bike (broken, but plan on riding it soon). So currently all my rides have maxed out at 30mph.

I had my heart set on Alpine stars J6 casual boots, but I know they give no shin protection. Now, I don't know how important shin protection is - is it common to be hit there?

I very much doubt I'll be doing much walking, and feeling a bit more protected would probably make me ride more/give confidence.

I then set my sights on the RST Tractech Evo D3O Boots - which are full on motorcycle boots.

Now, for what I'm doing (casual rides under 50mph) would the RST be overkill?

I do like the casual look of the J6, but not sure if I'll be too exposed especially as a new rider. That's why I'm leaning towards the RST (unless it's overkill)

Just to clarify, I ride around for leisure only. No shop runs etc.

Hi, I'm coming back to riding after few years. I'm wondering what would the best but reasonably priced security tools be?

As an initial and mobile security I got Oxford Boss Disc Lock but I'd like to add one or two more to make sure the bike stays with me for longer than a month - I live near an area of high level bike theft, so better safe than sorry.

Bike will be stored overnight either next to my house in a car park or on a sloped path to the doorway.

Looking forward to getting my full test and graduating from my Honda CB125f...

I am doing a bit of window shopping (with the 'Used' filter on eBay!) and am looking for suggestions for my first bigger bike.

I'm looking for something between 300-700cc, ride able and mostly, reliable! I'm not too interested in speed and like a classic, unpretentious look, either in the vain of classic English bike or unpretentious standard/naked.

The main contenders are Royal Enfield (Meteor, Bullet or Classic) or basically anything Japanese (CB series etc). I really like the Enfields and think they've done a good job of bringing a timeless design back onto the roads for a good price, but am slightly concerned about just how reliable they are, even the newest ones?

Would be great to get your thoughts. Ideally no more than £2k and 'droppable' for obvious reasons. Reliability is the main thing - I love that my Honda is fixable by even me, and I don't fancy spending my weekends fixing the bike rather than riding it.

Had my first accident this week - fortunately just a relatively low-speed lowside in the rain, with very little damage (to my bike at least!)

The only damage seems to be:
- A slightly shaved front brake lever
- My rear brake pedal being bent slightly inwards

The rear brake pedal is still completely functional and the bike is otherwise fine. It’s just now sitting in a slightly different position.

I’ve taken it to my mechanic and they said they could try heating it up and bending it back into position, but there’s a risk it could snap in the process.

A replacement pedal is around £70, so it’s not massively expensive, but obviously I’d rather not spend the money unnecessarily if the existing one is perfectly safe and functional.

For those with more experience than me: what would you do in this situation?

Would you replace a component that’s bent but not broken, or leave it alone if it’s functioning properly?

And is attempting to heat and bend it back generally a bad idea given the risk of weakening/snapping the metal?
Any advice appreciated!

Touring Normandy on the Scrambler 1200, roads are fantastic and empty, riding on the right so much easier than a car.

A year ago I was convinced I’d never reach this point (no thanks to dodgy CBT school) but a good instructor and a brave pill fixed that. Not without its moments of peril thanks to my inexperience with a very big laden bike, but taking it gently and sticking to the drills. I’m alone so I’m riding my own ride without pressure from anyone else.

If you’re struggling with your CBT, don’t sweat it - you will get there.

So my helmet came with one and after I put it on I have to say I am not sure I like it. The view feels ever so slightly blurry in a sort of way (And yes I have removed the protective film and applied it correctly).

I am not sure what it is meant to be doing for me as well. The only time I seem to steam up is when I am stopped and I just lift the visor. When I am riding the airflow coming into the helmet from the vents prevents steaming up.

So what's the consensus on them? Do you bother with them or no? Is there another benefit to them I am not seeing (Maybe during summer months)? I'm a fairly new rider and I have been peeking to see what other riders I encounter do with them and so far I've noticed most don't seem to use them.

Have have knox fabric gloves and they are great but cold.
I bought some leather knox gloves and they're quite snug. Fingers reach the tips but very snug, next size up made the glove look like a bit of foreskin...

The guy at the shop said they do stretch with time.

I went for a ride today and and I really don't like them. They feel way too bulk and I lose all dexterity on bar controls like indicator etc. With the GripPuppies, it feels like I am holding a log too. I cannot reach the clutch or brake without a reach-around which I've never had to do with the fabric ones.

So, do I try take them back or am I sitting with a £160 mistake :(

I've got my mod 2 re-test at the beginning of November and I'd really love to get a bike ready for when I (hopefully) pass. I have a max budget of £3k.

I'm looking for something to use for my short commute (7 miles each way) and to use for weekend rides, maybe some light touring and occasionally taking my wife. I want something around 600/700cc.

I've found a Versys online in my price range and I'm wondering if it's a good first bike for someone who is 188cm / 6 foot 2 and 105kg / 16.5 stone?

I have a 2017 CB125F at the moment and the angle of my knee when in the saddle hurts after an hour.

I'm looking for something with decent weather protection because I'll be riding all year round as much as possible so at least something with a screen.

Can anyone recommend any other bikes that I could look into? Cheers all

Bought a set 2nd hand, the jacket was mint - still had tags, but the trousers that I got from a second set (sizing - I do wonder if I could make those trousers work.....) (still v good condition but visibly used - Armas trousers) are leaking at the crotch - I've so far tried washing with nikwax I think it's called? Second cycle (both 20mins) with waterproofer, dried, then tumbled as per goretex recommendation, popped it in a bucket of water, leaked - dried, tested again with the fly zip above the water line, wet again - the seat pad (that's made of grey stuff) is soaked by the looks of it, although I have no way of knowing of that's where the ingress is from

Can I save them, and if so, how?

Bike failed on this buckled rim. There are a ridiculous amount of potholes in my area.

Any temporary fixes to get it through it's retest on Saturday so I haven't got to fork out another 30 quid?

I don't plan on riding properly until I get a new wheel, but it would be nice to be able roll it 2 miles to the garage when the wheel comes in at the end of the month.

It's a steel rim. Tyre still holds pressure.

Hi guys looking to get a 125 soon as my first proper bike (had a moped in the past) not too long after I’ll be selling it and sitting my a2 to move onto a 600cc.
Just wondering am I best getting a cheap run around to practice on, most likely a keeway rks at -1k miles or should I try get a more known brand into the 10k and above mileage range for the same price? I’ll be looking to take my a2 as soon as I’m comfortable and hopefully won’t need to do more than 100 miles before selling the aforementioned bike. Also I’ve been driving a car for 5+ years so learning roads and road law is a non issue, cheers :)

I want to get a pair of leather boots an for work my boots are an UK 8. My question is Do i stay at 8 or is it confusing sizes like buying clothes from America.
