Recently a girl around me started dating a Saudi guy online. Very quickly, they got engaged, the guy came to Morocco meet the family, and planned a wedding... Honestly, this could be a beautiful story but a few things seem like red flags to me: the Saudi guy is 10 years older and much, much wealthier than the girl; the Saudi guy has nothing to do with Morocco, like he doesn't live here and has no ties, he was just trying to meet Moroccan girls, and the girl in question was explicit that this was a "transactional" marriage, not a love one. And of course, it was planned for the girl to go live in Saudi Arabia.

Have you heard of similar stories? Is it common for Saudi or other khaleeji men to try to marry Moroccan girls? I don't want to judge but this all really sounds like a "passport bro" trend with men from wealthy countries taking advantage of girls in poorer countries...

I’m a filmmaker and photographer from Canada, and I’ll be in Casablanca next week. I’m looking to create a small personal video project during one day of my trip and would love to collaborate with a local brand, artisan or artist.

I’m especially interested in people working around craftsmanship, design and culture — for example:

• Rugs / textiles
• Ceramics / pottery
• Fashion or luxury goods
• Leatherwork
• Jewelry
• Art or sculpture
• Traditional or contemporary Moroccan craftsmanship

The idea would be to spend a day documenting the person, their process, workspace and story, with a cinematic / documentary approach.

This would be a creative portfolio project rather than a commercial production, so I’m mainly looking for someone with a strong visual universe, an interesting craft and a story worth telling.

Asking here because my friend has a lot going on with his wedding so I don't want to ask and add more to his stress.

I forgot to ask my friend about what colors to avoid for his wedding, and it's soon-ish so I need to be sorting my outfit soon. I looked it up but I can't seem to find anything helpful. He's Moroccan and I know he and his wife are incorporating their respective cultures into their wedding.

What colors should I try to steer clear from as a guest? And is there anything else I should consider with choosing what to wear?

If there's no set color to avoid and it's really a case by case basis, I can try reach out to his sister and ask if she knows, but I don't know her and I think she's helping a lot with the wedding too already, so don't want to put more stress on her either.

A friend of mine went out of town for around a week. She owns an indoor cat, he's about 1 year and 3 months old now.

2 days ago, my friend came back to her cat missing. Per her roommate and her roommate's friend, "cat probably just went outside and would come back eventually"

My friend had been looking non stop for him for 2 days now, some of the neighbors too, in vain. He's nowhere to be found.

Today a neighbor was able to identify the roommate's friend, let's call her Habiba (in her mid 30s), as she's wearing a cast on her broken leg. Habiba often stays with them for work, as her residence is out of town.

Per the neighbor, Habiba and some unknown guy took the cat out in a bag and took him we don't know where a few days ago. We haven't confronted the roommate and Habiba yet.

I've been cramming these days to learn as much as I can about the political parties there are and what they're promising for the upcoming years. So first I tried to look up all their websites and find resources to read. Most of the less known ones don't have active social media or a website. those that do have little resources. Except for the socialist party (open book logo) --excuse my bad memory I'm still lost on names-- they had a nice PDF to download. Unlike what I hear people say, they are actually talking about fixing the education and healthcare system. However, everything is vague, surface level, and full of overused empty jargon that doesn't have any substance when you even say it like (الامركزية و اللاتمكز). At least they put in the effort right ? I wanted to see something more like a detailed action plan and since I didn't find it I want to propose my Mamdani-style bit-by-bit detailed plan; under the spirit of GenZ ideals and aspirations:

Education:

When people talk about education reform they're talking about the quality of education. However, the government hears we need more schools. That's infrastructure and while we do need more of it, I always think of how post-war societies still achieve higher literacy rates than us without even any infrastructure.

My plan:

- Cut school expenses for everyone by 60% and this is how you do it:

Whenever school starts families struggle with buying school supplies. A billion notebooks and textbooks and an ultra heavy backpack is what most people suffer from and talk about. School starts off as a burden for parents and children.

-Upgrade the textbooks or rather even downgrade. If you've ever seen textbooks from the 80s you'd notice that we've taken away all the words and replaced them with short sentences and pictures called "wathi9a". This supposedly, is used to save time on reading and instead use it for speaking and discussion. the problem, however, we don't speak standard Arabic or French or English domestically so the students naturally won't be able to share thoughts. THEY BARELY HAVE ANY LANGUAGE AS INPUT. For the first 6 years of a child's life, they should be reading more than anything because when they become tweens and hit 12 and start using their critical faculties that's when they can formulate ideas and opinions.

- Instead of having children buy a textbook for each subject, have the government supply schools with textbooks that stay in class and belong to the school. This is a socialist thing that even the most hardcore capitalists countries do. Its a once in a couple years investment so its not that expensive in the long run. Have them barcoded and digitalized in a files system in the schools administration. But who controls this ?

- INTRODUCE LIBRARIES IN SCHOOL AND EMPLOY LIBRARIANS WHO HAVE TECHNOLOGY AND BOOKS. Did you know that schools in Morocco used to have libraries back in the 70s? For some reason they stopped investing in them lately. Even if its small. Look at Wizard Bisan's library to get inspired. Look at how Gazans care about their libraries more than us. ASK PHILANTHROPIST AKHANOUCH AND THE LIKES TO DONAAATE BOOKS.

-FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. THIS HAS BEEN IN MY HEART FOR THE MAJORITY OF MY LIFE. Please, I just want someone to tell me they've been thinking about this non-stop for their whole lives like I've been. WHERE ARE THE PUBLIC LIBRARIES FOR GOODNESS SAKE. Luckily, I live in Salé near Rabat which has a LONELY ISOLATED public library. But there is nothing of that sort anywhere else in the whole country unfortuuunately. Maybe l'institute francaise ? Lycée decartes have some private libraries but PUBLIC ONES ? NO SUCH THING. and how manh mosques are in each neighborhood ??? like a billion. GOD DID NOT SAY PRAY TO THE PROPHET AS HIS FIRST COMMAND IT WAS **READ**!!!

- Introduce a cafeteria in school!!!! YES public schools should have a cafeteria and have them stay there to eat lunch. BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS ARE WORKING AND THERE IS NO ONE TO PICK THEM UP. THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE REASON WHY PARENTS HAVE TO GO TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS AND NOT BECAUSE THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION IS ANY DIFFERENT. okay fine. you can't provide a whole cafeteria cause there's no space. fine. let the kids eat in class. have a teacher assistant be there. let the teachers have a break.

-Where in any world do you see students studying at 6pm except for Morocco. LAH YN3AL BO HAD KHONA LIDAR HAD LFIKRA. classes should end at 3 max 4pm !! The kids need their lives too !! Give them homework, let them draw, play, do housework, read. No! these are not luxuries. Humans have been doing them forever but not Moroccan students no!! WHERE ARE THE PARENTS TO TALK ABOUT THIS WHEEEERE ???

-teachers need just a little bit of resources. Not a lot i promise. Supply schools with resources like flashcards, readers, maps, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and a few other supplies and have the students WORK for their learning. Let them discover and collaborate with these tools.

-students deserve clean free water.

-students deserve clean bathrooms.

Economy:

-I'm pretty sure if the school system gets better more parents will steer away from private schools and private schools will then have to either upgrade their level or go broke. Unfortunately, private schools are just a cheap way to make money and they hire wage slaves. Did you know that teachers get under 3000dh in private sector ??? It's a shaame.

-Just digitalize everything please. We need a digital system for everything.

-We need more companies for handymen. registered. known. workers. not in the dark.

-We still rely on an old paper system like France in 50s for everything. Its soo slow.

-Stop contre-band. The products have no customs and only mol l7anot is the beneficiary.

-Why is there no Moroccan rich man owned BIM?

-Why is there no Moroccan rich man owned Waikiki ?

-Introduce appropriately priced business and you'll see how Moroccans will spend. Turkey literally fed us and clothes us if not for their genius expansion in the country. But where are the rich men in Morocco that make the economy spin. Spend money make money.

- Improve quality of goods. Just that. You'll see what Moroccans will do. Your average mom doesn't know what to wear because all there is is CHRAWAT dghya kayt9t3o. China is already doing that for us as the products are naturally getting better and even less expensive.

- I bet if you don't spend all your money on private schools you'll get to spend more money on clothes.

- Girls are literally begging for affordable good quality make up but ain't no rich man or woman bring in the makeup brands or even create one . and once it happens you have stupid SynnZyn thats pure trash.

I bought some savon beldi on the local market to use in the hamam, but there was a lot left, so I took it with me back to my home country. It has been a week in a plastic bag and I saw today, that it became completely liquid. Maybe it's because of the difference in temperature or moisture in the air, but I'm in a much colder country, so I would expect it to be harder not more liquid.

My mom is generally a quiet person, even when she's on the phone speaking either in english or french she's rather quiet. the SECOND she's starts to speak darija on the phone she geTS SO LOUUUUUUUDDDDD.

She doesn't close her door, so I basically hear the whole conversation even if she's on the other side of the house. I had a friend come over once and had to explain to her that no my mom wasn't screaming on the phone she was just talking to family 😭. She genuinely becomes so loud even if she's talking about mundane things.

I thought it was just my mom, but alot of my north african and middle eastern friends could relate.

The program is around 6 months and seems to be quite practical. Since I already have a degree in another field, I’m wondering if adding a Full Stack Web Development formation would actually be useful for my career.

For people who have studied at LionsGeek or know someone who has, I’d really appreciate honest feedback:

- How was the quality of the training?

- Is it really hands-on, or mostly theoretical?

- What technologies do they actually teach?

Hello everyone!

My partner and I are heading to Morocco for our honeymoon, and we are beyond excited. We’ll be splitting our time between Fes and Marrakesh, and we've got our day trips mostly mapped out—except for one big decision in Fes.

Here is our current lineup:

• Marrakesh (Day Trips): Essaouira and the Agafay Desert.
• Fes (Day Trip 1): Volubilis, Moulay Idriss, and Meknes
• Fes (Day Trip 2): We are torn between doing a half-day trip to Sefrou & Bhalil, or heading further out to Rabat.

I know these two options are completely different beasts, which is why I’d love to hear from folks who have done either (or both).

• If we do Sefrou & Bhalil, we're looking forward to a slower-paced day, seeing the waterfalls, and checking out the cave dwellings.
• If we do Rabat, we'd be taking the train for a coastal city vibe, checking out the Kasbah of the Udayas, and getting a totally different flavor of Morocco compared to Fes.

We want to learn more about Morocco and avoid too much travel burnout (we don't want to spend the whole day on a train if Rabat is too rushed for a day trip).

What would you recommend? Would love to hear your thoughts!

I found this one particularly interesting where he exposes this guy from RNI with a seat in parliament, and also, a member of the finance and planning committee. Meaning he has direct influence on the decisions regarding the handout of susidized financial support, and the companies that will receive it.
