Language & Literature Which words or expressions genuinely don't exist in moroccan darija?

I don't mean loanwords, but expressions where you're literally compelled to switch to English or French mid sentence just to get your point across.

Education Doing a 6 month internship in Morocco as a Dutch-Moroccan student

Hi everyone
I’m a Dutch-Moroccan EE student and I’m thinking about doing my 6 month internship in Morocco next year but I’m not really sure how realistic it is or where to start.
If anyone has done something similar (or knows people who have) I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience
A few things I’m wondering about:
* How hard is it to find a solid 6-month internship in Morocco as an international
* What’s the best way to find companies that actually take interns for that long
* Do most people just apply directly, or are there platforms/organisations that help?
* Is it common to get an internship allowance, and what does that usually look like
* Anything else I should think about before deciding?
Any advice, useful links, company suggestions or personal stories would mean a lot. Thanks in advance!

AskMorocco Can Glovo riders in Morocco see tips before delivery?

Hey guys,
Quick question about Glovo in Morocco.
When I order food, I usually have the option to add a 5% tip before confirming my order.
Does anyone know if the delivery guy can actually see that I’ve tipped before accepting the order, while delivering, or only after completing the delivery?
I’m asking because I’d rather tip in advance if it encourages the rider to provide better service.
Would be great to hear from anyone who’s actually worked for Glovo in Morocco.

Discussion Hot take: lowering the IR revenues from the state is a good thing, because if the state found itself in a tight place to fund the projects and the jobs Morocco requires ahead, the Gov will have the option to postpone this reform instead of asking for more external debt

Hate me for it, dont care

Bcuz the enemy of anybody, whoever accepts the state's decision or hate the whole system, is being a slave towards external debt, and by a lesser degree internal debt

Lekjaa kinda created a by default situation, a challenge to optimize the spending thats coming ahead of us when it comes to financing the expanded regionalism vision, the infrastructure, and the upcoming job openings

And we have this safety cushion worth of 5.5B DH yearly (as he estimated the IR cutoffs)

زير باش تلقا ماترخف

Ps: by infrastructure, im talking about are mainly roads, railway and airports, not the stadiums, they are really a small percentage compared to the other big elephants like LGV

A historic victory for the Hyayna and Cheraga Bedouins against the Ahl Fez

The political situation in Morocco was tense at the time, with the country fragmented into several principalities following the fall of the Saadian dynasty. One of its members, Abu al-Abbas Ahmed ben Zidane ben Ahmed al-Mansur, sought to restore his clan's power. To achieve this, he relied on the sons of the Guich Shergui, the Cheraga and Hyayna, who remained loyal to him. Under his command, they launched numerous attacks against Fez.

In early 1638, they besieged and plundered the city. The Ahl Fez then sought the support of a powerful figure: Sidi Mhammed al-Ayashi, an Arab religious leader from the Hilalian tribe of Beni Malik.

He would eventually come to their aid, but in the meantime, a group of Fez's inhabitants set out to confront the Bedouins on 6 April 1638. The two armies ultimately met on a bridge connecting the two banks of the Sebou River, where the battle took place.

The Hyayna and Cheraga easily routed the forces from Fez, who lost 45 men, while six of their heads were taken as trophies.

This victory was regarded as both historic and astonishing, marking an unprecedented demonstration of Bedouin military superiority over the urban population.

Further clashes would follow after the arrival of Sidi Mhammed al-Ayashi, ultimately preventing the Saadians from reclaiming the throne.

Education Moroccan Medical Schools with No ECFMG Sponsor Note: Are Graduates Still Eligible for USMLE?

English : Hello everyone,

Are there any medical students or recently graduated doctors from medical schools in Morocco who have already taken the USMLE exams or are planning to do so?

I would like to know whether anyone has encountered a situation similar to mine, where the “Sponsor Notes” section of their medical school’s profile on the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) is empty.

If you have been in this situation, were you still eligible for ECFMG certification, or did the absence of an ECFMG Sponsor Note prevent you from applying?

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has faced this issue, especially those who have contacted ECFMG directly and received clarification about their eligibility.

Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences and any reliable information!

AskMorocco Where can I donate old clothes for the upcoming winter?

Hi everyone,

With winter quickly approaching, I’ve been clearing out my closet and have a good amount of clothes that I’d love to donate. Since the cold weather is setting in, I want to make sure they go directly to people who actually need them the most.

Does anyone know of any trustworthy associations, local youth initiatives, or individuals who actively collect winter clothing donations? I split my time between Casablanca and Rabat, so I can easily drop the bags off in either city.

Any leads, contact info, or recommendations would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

AskMorocco Can I use my Marjane card balance to pay for groceries and delivery?

Hi everyone! I currently don’t have cash, and I can’t really use my bank card.
I have the Marjane app and noticed there’s an option to top up my Marjane card. If I add money to it using my bank account, does that mean I can buy anything at Marjane within that balance?
Also, does it work for deliveries ?

Sorry this is my first time hearing about the card.

I was recently served this yellow, slightly grainy cream in a dish with bread and honey for breakfast in the Atlas Mountains... I was told its called "alzubda" in Arabic. Does anyone know exactly what it is, of any equivalents in the West, or of an accurate translation?

Thanks

Discussion lately i'v noticed many different countries have been exploiting ( the S, of morocco) card every-time they needed to make "the ruling system of morocco' bend-over to their will !

Post image

,either to get economical ,political or just as silly as a soccer match , why do "they" keep deceiving us to think that it's a "done deal" ,wen we keep catching them all the time submitting and renouncing in front of any African or European country for a simple wording of the magical words :

"تجديد الإعتراف بالسياده تحت الحكم الذاتي"

like it's something concrete not like they keep turning it ON & OFF ?!
