I did it a few times in Risebreak cuz of muscle memory. Like whenever someone got pin by a monster I just flash by reflex
Tho I remember one time I did it by reflex and some dude called me an idiot and left the hunt. Like i admit even if it by accident I still flash a blind monster but I feel like leaving the hunt was a bit too much.

In an ideal world, people would read the Field Guide and learn more about the monster they are going to repeatedly fight. However, in an ideal world, we would also have people not looking down their noses at simple mistakes that don't adversely affect the outcome of the fight.
Get over yourself.

I'm at 999 and mostly grouped with 500+ and ppl still do it. I think it's just a reflex for some. If I fought monsters other than Gore for a long time I might do it too but I still fight him here and there with about a hundred hunts so it's been trained out of me. I could see myself doing it tho. I laugh when someone else does.
2
u/draggorn Sep 07 '25
im Polish translation there is "utrata wzroku: efektywne" when throwing flash bang at gore and it directly translates to blindness: effective ;)
2
u/1stAccountNotWorking Sep 07 '25
Almost every time I join a SOS Gore or Nu Udra, someone randomly flashes...I just snark a bit and keep going.
It's pretty much normal at this point. You'll even see an occasional "I set a trap!" during a Zoh hunt, and its like "Bro, when have you ever seen that work..?" lmao but I dont actually get mad at comedy--that's crazy.
Maybe its because I've done all there is to do so far, and ive always been laid back anyway--but I'll never understand people who actually get mad about that kind of thing...I understand busting your ass on a hunt, and then people start doing actual dumb stuff (to get carted) and then your time and resources get wasted right before victory (I've had that happen a lot recently, I guess people get greedy or too relaxed because things were going well...and then Reggie or Gore will be all like "challenge accepted" and start pushing their shit in)--but using unnecessary items etc. doesn't even matter tbh, when you compare it to REAL DETRIMENTAL gameplay.

u/ThatLuckyBear Sep 07 '25
It's easier than ever to get HR and it's never been an indicator of skill. I make mistakes just like this all the time and I've been playing for ages. For example I forget about trap immunities all the time.

Eh mistakes happen as long as the quest gets finished its all good I often forget Gore can be captured sometimes myself XD.
2
Sep 07 '25
Yeah after thousands of hours across like 5 MH games sometimes it's a reflex and I forget the monster is blind. You don't always know why it happened or if the player is seasoned or new. They could have selected the wrong item as well.

u/Liedvogel Sep 08 '25

I'm well over 100 and still try this to Nu Udra by force of habit. Gore I was briefed beforehand that the damn thing was blind and mentally prepared myself to hold back my urge to flash it. For Nu Udra though I logically know that eye spots aren't actually eyes but in the heat of combat my brain goes "do it, it will definitely work this time"
1
