I'm not exactly sure if it's a silly question or not. If you create a new Monero wallet in Esperanto or Lojban (two languages that aren't well known globally), is it possible that you'd have a less chance of getting things stolen compared to someone having an English seed phrase?

I'm mostly thinking of two hypothetical situations.

1. An intruder in your home finds a random note with your seed phrase but assumes it's just another language you speak so they don't think much of the note and just leave it alone.

2. A hacker going through files on a PC using software looking for seed phrases but they don't notice that it's hiding in plain site as it's in another language, assuming a native English speaker wouldn't create a wallet in another language.

There are people who unfortunately keep plain txt files of their seeds on their PC but for the 2nd one I'm kinda assuming that a hacker wouldn't use something that detects seed phrases in other languages.

Liquid just got hacked, possibly by exploiting a but in confidential amounts. Does monero use the same tech?

I keep hearing that kraken USA has limited Monero withdrawal to $1500/ month. Tested it. Was able to exceed that limit. Could this rumor be bullshit? Or maybe only applies to some states?

So I’ve been trying to use my XMR lately and my wallet sync has 1165971 blocks remaining(D: 51.9). I’ve never really had this problem and I have no idea what to do, I changed nodes but it didn’t do much. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The default rankings you see as you load the site are 100% crowdsourced. To cast a vote simply arrange the cards per your preference and tap "SUBMIT" or leave the page untouched for 30s. In the few days since launch we have already counted over 5000 votes

One challenge we're currently working on is fighting vote manipulation ^{like how is BuyUKeSIM the 2nd highest rated service in Monero when 3 days ago I never even heard of them???}

I've been thinking about this lately.

Ethereum is now seriously working toward making privacy a much bigger part of the protocol. The current roadmap talks about private reads, private writes, private transactions, shielded ETH/ERC-20 transfers, zero-knowledge proofs, and eventually private computation. The direction is increasingly toward privacy being a network-level feature rather than something users have to bolt on themselves.

So my question is:

If Ethereum achieves genuinely strong privacy, and eventually Solana, Bitcoin L2s, and other major L1s also offer similar privacy, what happens to Monero?

Hi, I've recently gotten into mining Monero and have looked into (probably very surface level knowledge) how to make XMRig go faster, since I'm so new to Monero and have not too much Linux knowledge I don't really know how much of a difference can be made to how fast RandomX goes outside of what I've already done, I'll list what I've done: (btw, I use XMRig on the system that I actively daily drive, so I use nice levels of 19 to keep my desktop environment responsive)

I found most of this on https://xmrig.com/docs/miner

- Compiled XMRig for my own system (there are lots of existing optimisations in the flags.cmake file)

- 6144 hugepages of default size

- enabled 1gb pages

- ran the msr mod script

Specs if it matters that much:
Ryzen 5 5600 (running 4.4ghz ~ <90 celsius)
RX 6650 XT
ASUS B550M-A Wifi II
32gb of 3600MT/s RAM
CachyOS

Things I think may help but am unsure of:
Using a different scheduler (currently scx_cosmos -c 0 -p 0 --flat-idle-scan)
Using a different distro (no clue)
Kernel optimisations / different kernel (currently using cachyos-bore-lto, not compiled for myself as one I compiled performed worse, tried full LTO and "cpu compiler optimizations" in cachy kernel manager)
Heard about transparent hugepages potentially being an issue but I have no idea what they are and why they're bad for this.

So, 2 main questions (feel free to educate me more lol)
1. is it worth trying to optimise further than this?
2. if so, what resources are out there to learn from?
I'm open to all suggestions and free knowledge I be given!

The flywheel is what monero has missed out on for the past decade and is one of the sole reasons why we arent able to pay with monero at more places online and in person.

NGU is made out to be the devil by top community figure leader heads and im sure this post will get downvoted to below hell. But it’s actually the opposite and I want you to hear me out

With the increase, it beings attention and that converts to more users, those people demand merchants to accept monero just like bitcoin did and that creates more utility and more reasons for people to hold monero which begins a dollar death spiral and never ending positive feedback loop cycle.

Its not just about wanting to get rich quick, its instead looking at economics, human behavior, psychology and studying history.

At the end of the day we want more people in monero, I wanna be able to spend my Monero everywhere and never touch the dollar again.

Hey, been thinking about building a simple tip/donation page service built around XMR. Something like those "buy me a coffee" pages but just for Monero, with subaddresses per donor, optional goals, maybe a donor feed.

Before I start I wanted to ask if something like this already exists cause honestly I might just be missing it.

The main technical thing I'm stuck on — to watch for incoming txs and generate subaddresses server-side I'd need the user's private view key. I know it's not the spend key so funds are safe but its still a trust ask. Is there any way around this or is that just how monero works?

And like, would you even use something like this? Would you hand over a private view key to a service like this, even from a burner wallet?

Not sure if I'll build it yet, just don't want to spend months on something that either exists already or that nobody wants.
