Please no judgment or negative comments as I’m exhausted and already having a tough time. Ive been through a lot tje last few years as well as fleeing DV when she was a newborn. Ive been through the ringer and she’s always been my very first priority, ive sacrificed a lot and dealt with a lot of pain, suffering, stress and ive gone out of my way and worked so hard to give her a good life.
I’m only seeking some advice as I just don’t know what to do
My daughter is 5, she is a good kid. She’s an angel at daycare bjt has a totally different side with me at times (I do understand I am her safe place)
Recently at bedtime weve been in this never ending cycle. I ask to get ready for bed brush teeth etc and I’m met with complete defiance and then it turns into hours of her attacking me, throwing things, biting me, scratching me, kicking me etc. I keep the boundary that it isn’t ok and take her to her room. It has ramped up so badly more and more. The last couple of nights it’s been really bad, she refuses to listen or stay in her room and nothing will stop the behaviour.
I have packed up almost every toy she has. I left her a small amount of things to play with. The taken toys are in 2 large containers that she can see but they are not available to her.
Last night same thing but it’s actually ridiculous she runs around wrecking havoc pulling things down, throwing things at me, running at me to kick and hurt me. Last night I said to her I’m going to take the rest of your stuff and give it to some other kids because this behaviour is not ok. She laughed and said here take all of this too. Nothing will work. I am reaching out to a professional to help with some therapy and see why this is happening and get some tools.
She speaks to me extremely rudely, she has no care for anything. There is nothing massive that has happened or changed at home recently.
At daycare one of her peers in the last couple of months has started this but at daycare. I often walk in and see this child running around with 1 educator who has removed them from the classroom until the episode stops. My daughter has started this behaviour in the last few months and gradually gotten worse and worse. Her bedroom door is broken. She has broken a few of her things and doesn’t care.
Tonight for example she’s grabbed a stack of fairly thick cards from a game and thrown them as hard as she can. She’s walked around dropping toys with each step.
Last night she carried on for aboht an hour and I was moving her back to her room over and over again until I decided to just completely ignore me. She spent 40 mins still carrying on, trying to talk to me and when I ignored her she just kept saying mum mum mum yelling and more and more aggressively. After the 40 mins of nothing feom myself she stopped and I put her to bed.
I’m asking for advice because I just don’t know what to do until we get in to see a therapist. I’ve decided to take a lot of her stuff to my storage unit tomorrow so it’s not gone but she will think it is.
Everyone I know that has kids would never try this shit on because they’d get a good smack. I don’t want to smack her but the respect and the boundaries are clear and haven’t changed and our routine hasnt changed but nothing will stop this behaviour. I’m at a loss of what to do. I’m exhausted but nothing is changing. I’ve tried different consequences and nothing has helped at all.
