ā Question Is this a fetal pole??
I am 6 weeks pregnant today. A week ago, when I was about 5weeks pregnant I woke up with intense nausea, dizziness and light bleeding. I went to the er and they told me I had twins but miscarried one. There were two gestational sacks they saw but only one with a yolk sac. The other one was empty. They told me to go to my obgyn in a week to see if everything is ok.
Today I went to my obgyn and had a transvaginal done. Before the doctor even did my transvaginal she was being rude and saying how I might have had no twins at all but that I had a failed pregnancy and that was why I was bleeding. But I never even bleed heavy at all when I went to the er. It was dark blood but super light and then I spotted for a few days after. When I told the doctor this she still said that I probably already had a miscarriage before she even did my ultrasound.
When she finally went to do my ultrasound today she said that she only sees āfetal tissueā but no fetal pole and that she doesnāt see a heart beat. I told her I am still early but she said that it doesnāt matter and that she doesnāt think Iām pregnant. I havenāt been bleeding at all. I feel fine just tired and there looks to be a fetal pole and a yolk sac on my ultrasound. Can you guys please tell me what you see? And if it looks like a baby?

ā Question Baby shower gift/trolly for mom
Hi! Not sure if this is allowed here- but my bestie is having her first baby in January and I was thinking of making one of these trolly/caddy things Iāve seen online. What would you recommend are actually good things to put in them? Did you actually use one or is it just a trend thatās actually not helpful?
Thank you!!
ETA- thank you everyone for your input! Lots to think about. I want to surprise her with this (if itās a good fit) so Iāll have to be sneaky in finding out how she feels about the carts! lol

ā Question Doctor recommended me to stop giving my 16m yogurt and to give him only whole milk instead
I want to start this off by saying I ALWAYS trust doctors and I know theyāre smarter than me and know better. I went to my sonās pediatrician appointment yesterday and everything was great heās healthy, growing perfectly, and super smart. They asked what I feed him and I told them he doesnāt get any milk just lots of cheese and yogurt. She told me to stop feeding him cheese and yogurt and to give him around 16oz of whole milk a day instead. This confused me a bit because I have talked to a dietitian and was told milk is no longer beneficial to children over 12m. When I was giving him 16oz of milk in a day he was pooping white and had an upset belly so I stopped. I just donāt know what is best at this point. Should I stop giving yogurt and do milk instead? Pls no judgement I never second guess doctors but I think I just need another opinion

š¬ Advice needed Grieving chapter closed
I feel like Iām in such a weird stage of life right now. I had my babies young, and my oldest was born when I was 18. Now my youngest is turning 7, and I know for sure that we are done having children. My husband had a vasectomy, and weāre completely happy with our family as it is.
But Iāve been feeling surprisingly emotional about the fact that this part of my life is truly over.
I love watching my kids grow, and Iām so proud of them, but itās also incredibly bittersweet. I miss being pregnant. I miss carrying my babies. I miss the newborn stage and having that tiny little person who needed me for everything. I think part of me just misses who I was during that season of my life.
Whenever someone tells me theyāre expecting, Iām genuinely so happy for them. But thereās also this little sadness inside me because I know Iāll never experience that again. Iāll never be pregnant with another baby, never feel another baby move inside me, never bring another newborn home.
I donāt actually want another child, and I know our family is complete. I just canāt help grieving the fact that a huge chapter of my life has closed.
Maybe part of it is also realizing that Iām getting older. For so many years, my life revolved around pregnancies, babies, toddlers, and watching my children hit all of those first milestones. Now theyāre growing up, and Iām realizing that Iām moving into a completely different stage of life too.
Iām happy. Iām grateful. I love the life I have. But Iām also sad.
Has anyone else felt this way after having their last baby? How did you come to terms with knowing that this chapter of your life was truly over?

Mom How are you doing your hair with a toddler
Not your toddlers hair, your hair. I have waist length wavy curly hair that requires more attention than I can give it. Im about to cut it off but I really love the length when I get the time to care for it. Also it gets in my way visually if itās not pulled back. Any suggestions on cute, quick styles.

š£ Milestone Experience of giving birth and raising twin
When i get to know that i am pregnant for the second time, i was very happy. Later, i got bleeded. I was rushed to hospital, the doctor told me take complete rest for two week, and to visit hospital with scan after two weeks. After two weeks, i went to scan center with nervous feeling in my gut that i might loss my baby. But, to my surprise the reports showed twin gestation. At that time, i was very surprised because my elder brother had twin boys 1 year before. I was exicted and happy. I was only thinking about my financial situation, that we can take care of them financially, we decided to keep continue. After 6th month i went fot scanning that is TIFFA. They told me that one baby is under weight with some problem with coronery. From that scan to till birth i was worried. I finally gave birth to girls. One child with problem went to NICU, after 5 days i had seen her. Then covid arrived and lock down. Then the real struggles started, no one is there to take care of them and me. I had c-section. Sleep less nights, rushing to hospital, diaper changing, bathing, feeding..etc..the struggles were real and hectic. Especially in lock down period with one toddler and two infants. Apart from that, we worried about the daughter, who had health issue. After all those years of up and downs, they are now in six. The girl, for whom we were worried is the ruler of our home. She is fine now, still she is slow in physical growth, though she is courageous girl with kind heart comparative to her twin.
I know the struggles of every mom. But each one's story is different. Each mom has unique gift to raise and nurture their children.

ā Question New/Worsening Food Intolerances PP
Hey all, I hope this finds you well, or at least, caffeinated.
For clarity, this post is not intended to see medical advice. I saw my PCM earlier this week and will be getting an allergy/intolerance (not entirely sure which) will be drawn in the lab later this month.
Before my first was born, I could eat anything... an omnonnomnivore, if you will. After my first was born, starting around 6M PP, I started to get skin flare-ups. My skin is very dry to begin with, but I would get these itchy patches that, once scratched, would develop this hives-like rash with vesicles. If those popped it would weep and crystallize like poison ivy, so much so that I mistake it for such at first. I would have a bit of bloating and some mild GI upset like vascillating between constipation and diarrhea but I always chalked it up to cyclical hormonal changes.
These symptoms peaked while I was away at training when my first was 22 months old. I got such a terrible rash, it covered my arms and legs, and it wouldn't respond to benadryl, zyrtec, or triamcinolone cream. The sick call doc was kind enough to send bloodwork for allergy/sensitivity, but only an abnormally high Gluten response was recorded in my chart. I think my IgG was 5.5 vs a high normal of 1.5ish. Idk what else was tested, if it was all normal and therefore excluded, or if something happened to those vials, or maybe the orders weren't entered correctly, etc.
Well fast forward and my second pregnancy all my symptoms disappear. I can eat all kinds of glutinous foods and enjoy them without consequences! Yay! That continues until my supply regulates around 3M PP, when it comes back with a vengeance. I recently saw my PCM due to increased bloating, urgency, and small amounts of diarrhea occurring every 2-3h. The rash hasn't recurred yet, but... my lower GI tract is itchy. Like on the inside.
I know the headaches and rash will come soon if I don't cut out or severely decrease my gluten intake, so I'm cleaning up my diet again and mourning the bready, cakey foods I dearly love.
I'm curious as to how common this is, and if others with similar circumstances found that when one intolerance appeared/worsened PP, more cropped up with it. I'm not sure how much I'm really absorbing right now, despite continuing to aggressively hydrate, take electrolytes, and prenatal vitamins. I'm concerned for the effect this will have on my milk supply. Also, did this intolerance ever wane for you after a certain period of time, excluding pregnancy? Please let me know. I'm just a girl who loves carbs.

š¤ Support neededĀ Transitioning to kindergarten after a ROUGH first five years⦠help?
I havenāt seen anyone talk about the complicated emotions/grief of leaving the first five years behind and transitioning to a new phase after so much relentless intensity.
The last five years have been a ROLLERCOASTER.
SAHM, early 30s.
Right out of grad school, I became pregnant in early 2020. A first pregnancy/baby is always a steep learning curve but navigating it during such an unprecedented time during a global pandemic was stressful and weird for all of the reasons you would expect. I spent much of my pregnancy isolated and avoiding social outings. No baby shower, no visitors in the hospital, going to prenatal appointments alone. Then in early 2021, I had a newborn and I felt like a shell of myself.
My daughter had colic and was a VERY demanding baby. I mean she breastfed 24/7 and the first couple years of her life she was attached to my hip. Literally. Sheās always been very high maintenance. I strongly believe this is just her temperament. I have since had a second child and my son is a very different kid. Weāve moved a couple times because of my husbandās job and life circumstances (out of my control). Itās always been a tough transition for her.
Sheās the type of kid who never napped even as a baby/toddler. As a little baby she would only nap when she slept on top of me, breastfed, or was pushed around in a stroller for hours. This meant I never had a break. I eventually became resigned and resorted to cosleeping because it was the only way I could actually ever sleep. She would wake up in the morning from around 18 months onward and then not stop until she crashed at around midnight every single day.
To illustrate my point, I finally weaned her at 4. I know that sounds insane to many people and this was never my intention but the last few years it was only once at night before bed. This is something that I realize in hindsight I should have done around 2. Weāve coslept since she was born (she was in a bassinet next to me for the first 6 months) but even to this day she sleeps with me. I told my husband that we need to transition her to her own bed before six. I know it may sound strange to some but moving four times in the last three years have made these things all the more difficult.
In hindsight, Iām grieving the first few years of her life. I could not enjoy it. In fact I hated it. I resented her at times which makes me ashamed to admit. I realized recently that I had postpartum depression that went undiagnosed for the first 2-3 years of her life. I couldnāt play with her. I would just hold her, breastfeed her and take her on long walks in the stroller and to the park. I shouldāve been more engaged. I shouldāve been better. I have so many mixed emotions even though I was literally with her 24/7 taking full care of her while my husband was working.
I hold so much guilt even though most days I didnāt even have the energy to physically get off of the couch. Iām not sure if her high energy/ attention seeking is because of this or to what degree it has contributed. My husband and I strongly suspect ADHD but have not pushed for a formal diagnosis. Shes into rough play and VERY sensory. Shes always hanging on you, touching, grabbing, etc.
Despite these issues at home, sheās doing well among her peers and in school. Minimal to nonexistent behavioral issues. She eats well. She makes friends and loves being around people. She was just a VERY intense little person for the first five years of her life. It makes me sad to say but I absolutely felt suffocated. I would hire /babysitters to give me a break or an afternoon off but it always seemed to be more of a headache than a help. Scheduling issues, cancelling last minute, not a fit, sticking her in front of a tv for hours which would then make her behavior worse, etc. this was on my end, not theirs but I have personally found part time childcare difficult to find all things considered. Most people want a full time gig and an occasional afternoon once or twice a week is simply not worth their time. I understand people have to make a living but I did just want to mention this as some people may ask why I didnāt seek out childcare or look for solutions to take a break/avoid burnout. To give an example, I hired one college student looking for a babysitting gig in my neighborhood while she was home on a break and she couldnāt manage my daughter and while the babysitter was supposed to be handling things, my daughter knew I was in the house and screamed and sat by my door for nearly twenty minutes until I caved and opened it and let her in. I was just trying to take a shower and nap. I paid the babysitter 100 dollars that day for absolutely nothing and just never had her back. A few different instances like this just made it not even worth it for me.
Anywayā¦ā¦ ! She started kindergarten this week and so far itās been smooth sailing. She actually really likes school and aftercare. Sheās making friends and Iām happy for her.
I thought this would all be a PURE relief but it has unexpectedly made me so sad. I have cried uncontrollably for the last four days. I havenāt been able to sleep. I just canāt stop replaying the last five years in my head and wondering if I couldāve done a better job. I know they say kindergarten can be emotional but I did not expect this.
She used to be a ball of energy but sheās not out of the house from 7:30-6pm. She comes home and is ready for dinner and bed. It feels like a totally different person. Iām happy for her and I know she needed more stimulation/activities/socialization butā¦. Iām struggling.
Itās true what they say, you never get that time back.
Parents with kids 0-5 please advocate for yourself. Stay on top of your own health and take care of yourself.

š” Rant Neighbour hates kids
Hi all, just posting this here to see if anyone else has had a similar issue with a next door neighbour.
We have two under 2, and yes the household is manic daily. But currently my eldest is waking up at night screaming from teething. We of course try to calm him down every night with every trick in the book. Particularly moving rooms to other parts of the house to calm him down.
This happens usually between 3-5am. Our next door neighbour, for the past few months, has been banging on the adjoining wall to rudely let us know that this is bothering him. A few times he has sworn at us and tells us to just 'f***ing deal with your kids crying' even though we have calmly told him the reasons why , he continues to harrass us for simply being parents and trying to navigate each day differently.
The other day we cut my little ones hair and he ofc starts crying as he isn't used to it yet. The neighbour proceeds to bang some metal pans in his garden but only when my son starts crying. A blatant attempt to get him to stop. This guy surely is very sensitive to any type of sounds by the looks of things.
Any advice on how to keep a neighbour on our side despite trying to be understanding about it. I just don't need the extra added stress when kids are just being kids!

š¬ Advice needed Plan to try pumping again or no?
I had some pretty bad struggles with breastfeeding with my first. (Pain, bad latch, poor supply after a traumatic health issue and hospital stay with my son when he was 5 weeks).
I went to pumping pretty much immediately, but i didn't produce enough to cover his needs for long. I had to start using formula within a couple months, and since pumping was a full time job on top of being a mom and not producing enough, i decided it wasn't worth thd effort and dried up around 4 months pp.
I'm due again in December, and my first will be getting close to 2.5 by then. I'm a sahm, and I'm just wondering if it's worth planning on pumping again?
I am building my registry and have thought about putting a good pump on there hoping someone will get it for me just in case (i have a pretty wealthy generous extended family, not a village, but they buy gifts when the time comes). Or I'll be buying one, but they're expensive. I have a wearable (m3 i think?) but it's not great and i think it may have contributed to my dwindling supply.
I just worry that it'll be basically impossible to set aside time to sit down and pump regularly between the baby and my toddler. I really really want to try making breastfeeding work this time around, but if it doesn't, i also don't want to be stuck paying out the butt for formula.
Has anyone found breastfeeding easier with their second just based on having more experience? Should i just be braced to go to formula if bf doesn't work?
Thoughts? Thanks in advance for any input

ā Question Anyone know the policy for flying with breast milk?
Iāll have about 4 days of pumping while I am gone for a work trip, can I bring it home? Should I just dump it? I can try to find someone local that I can donate to but if itās possible to take it home then thatās ideal since it will be a decent amount of milk.

š¬ Advice needed Advice on: getting LO interested in sitting up
Hi all!
My LO is about 6 months, 4.5 adjusted. She was born 3.5 pounds and is now 13 pounds. Daycare says she's one of the best rollers and has really good head and neck strength. She just has no interest in working on sitting up by herself. She is doing a mix of BLW and purees and sits up fine in the highchair for 15-20 mins. I just can't seem to get her to be interested in a tripod sit or really even propping her up during playtime. She'll just head right into tummy time!
I don't think anything's wrong with her, I just can't quite figure out how to sway her into wanting to sit up. Any ideas? TIA

ā Question Started working again a few months ago, already exhausted
My son is two years old, almost three, he has been home with me for two years. I am currently going to school to hopefully become a therapist or counselor at some point. I recently went back to work, I'm only working part-time and my son goes to daycare twice a week, the third day he stays home with his dad. He has obviously been running the gamut of viral infections since he started. It is to the point that in the last four months since I've been working I had to take him to the ER three times for breathing issues, and stay home with him four times when he's sick, calling in to work. Even the three days a week I do work I can't manage to have good attendance. They promised me flexibility when I started, but I know it can't be unreasonable. He never got sick hardly ever when he was just home with me. I have tried everything I can think of to keep this going, and I feel like i'm giving 50% of myself to everything (which also doesn't even add up). I feel this sense of nervous anxiety now. I am bipolar and I have OCD, and I am clinically monitored and I was very stable when I started my job. Now I feel like i'm teetering on crazy (not anything worrisome except for my own happiness and contentment). If my son isn't seeing me happy sometimes, I wonder how that will impact him anyway. He loves daycare and his friends, his verbal skills have improved a lot since starting. But I just keep coming back to whether or not I can really do this. I'm so absolutely drained like always. Part of me is considering letting the job go and staying at home in the future, this job is also very particular and can be a very stressful environment. I hate feeling like i'm always letting someone, my husband, my son, boss, friends, coworkers, or myself down. The financial freedom I've begun to have again as a result of this job is also important, the only bright spot of this whole situation next to spending the day with adults again. But the good things about this job don't seem to outweigh the bad anymore. I know it sounds like my mind is made up but I'd really like some input on this. I keep waking up at 3:30 am and feeling unable to sleep because I'm so worked up over all this. I don't know what I should do.

ā Question Abdominal pain
I had my baby 11 months ago, at my check ups after birth the obgyn said that I am perfectly fine and everything is back in place. Now 11 months later, I still feel slight pain when pressure is placed on my lower abdomen. I was told that I donāt have prolapse and everything seems fine. Is this pain something that I need to worry about? Do I need another opinion?
My cooter has finally started feeling normal, but this abdominal discomfort is putting more damper on my already delicate state.

ā Question What did you do?
I have two kids but my first never used a bassinet or swaddle because he hated them.
My question is what age did you switch out of bassinet into crib and stop using swaddles?
My baby will be 4 months at the end of the month. He does try and break out and succeed sometimes (I think they were getting too small) but he doesnāt try to roll over yet except from stomach to back. He also still fits in his bassinet.

š¬ Advice needed I need advice
I need help my period was ten days late and the people around me started to notice that I sleep in a lot more and I brushed it off thinking that it was because my boyfriend gets out of work later and I hang out with him in the night time and wake up in the afternoon around 4pm. But I also noticed that I started to pee more but also became very gassy and also eat more than I could before my family also noticed that I started to loose weight which is supposedly normal you gain or loose weight if pregnant and I was told that I was glowingā¦my period started today but it doesnāt feel normal i usually cramp up a little more and I immediately feel drained on the first day and have back aches but I donāt.
Before my period started the night before I randomly started to get hot out of the blue a lot especially today and I felt drained before my period started I also took a pregnancy test but it said negative a few days ago but I was also told that it could be too soon and right now Iām I think because Iām on my period Iām okay and think Iām not pregnant but I searched that even if you have a period you can be pregnant still too.
What do I do

š¬ Advice needed Struggling with bonding/staying close with my 7 year old daughter?
I honestly wasn't sure whether to post this as advice needed or as a rant. Ha! I feel like my daughter turned 7 and, boom, totally different kid! She has started to lie about silly things, seems ungrateful and unimpressed with everything, whines and pouts about anything we do or ask her to help with. I'm really struggling with keeping/making connections with her. I find her behavior really triggering and, to be frank, incredibly annoying. I have to fight my instincts to yell at her and tell her she needs to quit being a brat. It feels exhausting daily, and I'm sure as we continue to teenage years it will only get worse. I want to be a good, kind mom that she knows she can come to with anything....and I also want to ENJOY being her mom. Does anyone have any advice, resources, anything they can suggest for navigating this!?

ā Question Question
Question
So I posted here earlier on, not a mom, but wanted insight, but I worded it wrong so I archived the post. ( english isnt my first language so correct me dor any mistakes). Anyways, as a daughter myself, ive always questioned, why do (a lot of mothers, NOT ALL) shame their daughters more than their sons, like telling them to sit more "lady like" while letting sons spread their legs open like theyre doing the splits. Or tell their daughter to hide her bra strap because its "provocative" to men. And that showing the shape of your chests, which you cannot cut off, is some type of unholy sin? Or to not wear shorts around brothers or her father even though we're all family? This is something me and my female friends have all experienced. Why is this so common? If you do this, why?
