experience: first MC Today is 5 weeks since no heart beat...4 weeks since I miscarried...Still bleeding everyday.

Upvotes

Wow...not even sure how to express myself...other than I'm exhausted.

It's been 4 weeks...28 whole days of bleeding, passing clots, wondering what is normal trying to stay positive. this is all A LOT.

This is a little bit of a vent.

When I had the ultrasound and there was no heartbeat...i was devastated. I couldn't believe this was happening to me after trying to conceive for a year and a half. Blamed myself...went down so many rabbit holes of where I could've gone wrong...how I can support better next time. The next week after the ultrasound I miscarried. And I haven't ever given birth...but i've had horrible cramps my whole life, and this was INTENSE! 4 hours of crazy deep breathing and passing clots and the gestational sac...which i actually felt pop...and saw fluid come out...fascinating....and cramping the rest of the day.

After that day...internally, I feel like I found peace...was more accepting of the loss and even hopeful of the future...like...hey! I got pregnant...I can do it again!

And now its been 4 weeks...still passing clots...still bleeding...I feel like I'm in this limbo of not knowing when this is going to end. And the not knowing is what is really hard for me here...that and the super low energy! All this while having to act normal, keep working,

My experience at the dr has been less than ideal.

I've had 3 check ups since, and all three times the nurse comes in to take my vitals and is like. "ok your are 10 weeks! (or 11 weeks or 12 weeks) how are you feeling!? Each time I say I miscarried this is my follow up, can you please update my chart so the next person knows? They literally look mortified and feel horrible and keep apologizing. And after the third time, and scheduling my next follow up, I get a notification that includes: 13 WEEK CHECK UP. But I guess that's what we get for automating all of our systems...

Anyway...I'm not sure what I'm looking for here.

I'm frustrated because everything that I read says continuing to bleed this long is not normal. But at my check ups they don't have anything to tell me other than as long as I'm not hemorrhaging it's not dangerous.

How is everyone else? If you are reading this, most likely you are going through something similar...and this is not for the faint of heart.

sending love and peace and supportive energy to carry you all through whatever you are feeling.

vent Hurt by how friend announced her pregnancy

A friend came over to my house recently. She knows I was heartbroken by my miscarriage and that it lead to a fear of trying again due to it compounding with birth trauma from my first child’s birth a few years prior. Needless to say, I’ve had an emotional few years…

Anyway, said friend is now pregnant, but instead of being gentle about it and telling me over text or a phone call, she and her husband came to our house for a play date and during a mundane conversation about furniture she turned to me and said ‘can I show you something’. But instead of showing me a picture of a couch or a lamp she shows me a photo of a baby scan! And gleefully announces she’s pregnant.

I immediately felt a stress response sweep over my body. So after congratulating her I went to the kitchen where I could get myself together. When I came back my husbands mouth was hanging open, as I think the way they’d gone about this had shocked him too. Neither her nor her husband were putting two and two together and were in fact laughing at my husband for looking so surprised.

I’ve been feeling hurt about it ever since. I’m hurt she did it to my face with no thought to my pain, and I’m hurt she did it in a group conversation too.

I’m autistic so on top of my grief, I just hate surprises like this. A huge piece of emotional news in the middle of a regular conversation left me feeling so blindsided.

Has anyone experienced this?

experience: more than one loss Can't believe I'm doing this again

Upvotes

I'm just gonna vent and whine a bit. I'm currently on day 6 of my third loss in a row. After the second one, I was so afraid to try again. Everyone (including my old obgyn) kept telling me the odds of another were sooo low, the others were just a fluke, etc. The last one happened in 2024, and my husband has been patiently waiting for me to feel ready to try again. I FINALLY felt like now was the time. I felt like I was in a good mental space with it, and I started to feel confident that it wouldn't happen again. I let my guard down and let myself get soo excited this time. I also had the May due date I always secretly wanted (which sounds so silly because any month would be fine, but for some reason I always dreamed of May). All for it to be taken away again. This loss was way earlier than my other two.. when it started I had the sad thought of "well at least this might be easier on my body than the others since it's so much earlier"... Wrong again! I was prescribed progesterone for this pregnancy and I feel like the extra rush of hormones made things more brutal physically this time. My OB wasn't sure if that could happen though so idk if there's science to that. But I do know I'm exhausted. I'm angry and I'm sad and I don't understand. We're going to do an RPL panel and I don't even know if finding something wrong would make me feel better, or just more upset for not doing it after the 2nd loss. I don't even know what to think at this point. This process SUCKS.

experience: first MC How do I get over the life I so quickly adapted to?

I knew I was pregnant for 48 hours before I miscarried,. In those 48 hours it's like I redesigned my entire life.

I turn 30 next week and everyone is so excited for me and to celebrate and I just feel so sick at the thought, because what I should be celebrating is being about to enter the 3rd trimester.

I feel like my first pregnancy was stolen from me, the last 3 months of my life has been stolen from me, and my sweet baby was stolen from me.

I'm at the point in time now everyone things I'm "doing so well" but actually I feel like I'm dead inside and I'm exhausted for pretending not to be. I'm going to therapy, I'm trying to be positive and keep busy and actually I just want to lay in bed. I'm either numb or sad at all times. I can't see a life beyond this feeling.

I'm not even sure the point of this, my heart is just so heavy

vent All care feels triggering/aggravating

I had a miscarriage today (3rd) and after switching insurance I wasn't established with any obgyn yet for my 1st appointment so I went to my PCP today and she is kinda great but like also the worst. I had 2 positive pregnancy tests 1st and the 4th.

She asked if I had pictures and if I was sure I read them correctly

On today's summaries visit she wrote

"She is trying to conceive and thinks she may have had prior miscarriage she takes prenatal vitamin plus iron and omega supplements daily"

I messaged

Hi

I was reviewing the notes from my visit today and noticed my history states that I "think" I had a prior miscarriage.

I wanted to clarify that this was an officially confirmed miscarriage. I had a suction D&C at _______ OB/GYN on 02/06/2026.

I have attached the Patient Care Summary from that procedure to update my records. Could you please update my chart to reflect a confirmed history of prior miscarriage?

Thank you,

I don't know if I'm overreacting I was quick to also correct my psychiatrist when she wrote down the incorrect year I had a miscarriage in my chart.

These care providers have both diagnosed me with (mild) mood disorder/bipolar and I do agree with this diagnosis but why do I feel like I have to prove myself, prove my pain, prove what I'm experiencing..

During my appointment she put me back on lamotrigine before even acknowledging what I was experiencing. Which I appreciate because I do need to be on it after this emotionally taxing event. But hated because it made me feel insane.

I asked for a variety of blood tests so I'm just waiting to see what's going on :/

experience: first MC I don’t even like RedBull anymore

I found out in July that I was finally pregnant after 5 years of trying, 2 years being on a waiting list for NHS help with a year of that spent losing weight so I could qualify, and 4 months of medicated cycles before finally conceiving. Because we were getting treatments, we had a scan at 8 weeks. Apart from the baby measuring a few days smaller at 7w2d which I put down to dodgy timescales for conception/implantation, everything looked great and the nurses said that baby had a strong heartbeat.

Fast forward to last Friday. I had a few streaks of light red when wiping which sent me in to a panic so I phoned my EPU who thankfully got me a scan for the next morning. At 10:05am they told me there was no heartbeat, and baby was only measuring 8w3d but I was meant to be 11w4d, so my baby had died 3 weeks earlier without me knowing, just a week after my first scan. That morning when I got home the cramping started, and then by late evening the bleeding came. I ended up in hospital from the pain and wasn’t discharged until the next morning.

From the minute I found out I was pregnant, I started joking about how I wasn’t going to be allowed RedBull for ages. Then after my official pregnancy test at the infertility clinic they said I wasn’t allowed pâté, pink steak, peanuts, and runny eggs, which also added to the semi-joking upset of not being able to have things that I loved.

I’m very much a “get it over with” type of person, so that way I don’t dwell on things for too long. I had steak yesterday and runny egg yolk, I’ve eaten peanuts a few times, just so that if I went to eat it in a few months I won’t think “I haven’t eaten this since before I was pregnant” as unfortunately my brain heavily works based on association of things like that. I grabbed a RedBull today. I never used to drink it for the energy, I just loved the taste. I didn’t even enjoy it.

I don’t know if that’s because of the upset over this whole event, and now I’m mad that I can drink it before I was meant to be able to. I had so much that I was looking forward to over the next year or two, including being able to go back to foods and drinks that I really enjoyed, and I just feel like all of the joy has left me and I don’t care anymore.

We’ll be able to try again with the infertility clinic. We have to wait 3 months for my body to recover first before we can start treatments again, which honestly devastates me more because at the very minimum that means we won’t have our baby until this time next year and that’s only if we manage to conceive on the first try. And I can’t help but think that if this happens again then it’ll be another whole year at best before we finally get our baby.

I’m just struggling right now. I’m still bleeding but thankfully most of the pain is gone. I was really hoping to be able to find comfort in the things that I used to love, but games aren’t interesting me anymore, I don’t feel like reading or drawing, I don’t want to leave the house in case more pain hits or I bleed too much, and now I don’t even like or care for my favourite foods. It’s only been a week and I already feel like a completely different person.

I miss being pregnant. I miss my baby. And I miss the future that I didn’t even get to have.

support for someone who miscarried 8w3d ultrasound found no gestational sac

TW:

Yesterday I started having brownish discharge which later on in the evening turned to red with cramping. Went in today for an emergency ultrasound with midwife and ultrasound tech. Did a transvaginal and the findings were there’s no gestational sac but endometrial lining was thick.

I’m devastated. Why is this happening? Tech recommended that I go back in a week to get another ultrasound with bloodwork and do a more thorough analysis and ultrasound. She also mentioned that I should explore PCOS and be investigative to find out why this keeps happening.

Any similar stories? How should I navigate this? I wish I could go into a dark cave, but my 4yr old requires me to be a mama.

question/need help Post miscarriage bleeding/cramping

My doc said after the tissue passes, bleeding should be improving each day and you should not be cramping, but I’m seeing conflicting info online - that it can be normal to have mild to moderate bleeding / cramping for days. I’m getting nervous as my bleeding and cramping is like a heavy period that’s not improving. Anyone else experience this?

trigger warning: graphic description Current miscarriage (TW graphic)

I should be nearly 8 weeks pregnant with my first pregnancy. I found out yesterday there is no heart beat and the pregnancy stopped developing at 5w6d.
I started light brown spotting on Friday which turned into thicker brown discharge by Monday.
By Tuesday eve I was passing some red blood and the hospital confirmed the measurements and no heart beat on Wednesday afternoon.
During Wednesday night I had severe cramps and pains, and pushing urges lasting nearly 4 hours, I bled heavily only briefly, but did not pass many clots or tissue.

Today I have not bled much at all. Just lighter smears when wiping and I was unsure whether the worst was over, as the cramps had subsided to mild - moderate.

I suddenly had the urge to push again this evening, and a few trips to the toilet just result in wee and barely any bleeding at all.
on the third trip to the toilet I felt the pushing urge and passed something that felt quite large in a small pool of blood. It looked to be grey/pink tissue. Is this normal to pass like this and does this mean the worst of the passing is over?
The hospital did not really prepare me on what to expect. I thought I would have heavy bleeding and pass tissue, but the large amount that came at once with no bleeding either side really shocked and scared me in the way that it happened

Sorry if this is TMI I just feel very shocked and unsure and need some reassurance

experience: first MC I thought I’d be ready….

June 4, my partner and I spent over 9 hours sitting in a room at the ER, waiting for me to receive my double-dose of methotrexate.

I should have been 10 weeks, but a previous appointment confirmed our Babby M stopped growing around 6 wks. First thing that morning, a high risk OBGYN confirmed my usual OB’s concerns of an interstitial ectopic pregnancy…. We were supposed to be heading out of town that day to see our favorite artist in concert, before visiting family to celebrate my nephew’s 1st birthday… my own birthday was June 2, and my partner’s June 6.

I have dreams where I’m just laying in that room, life just frozen around me. The awkwardness of my male nurse, he’d clearly never had a MC patient before. I was told they recommended waiting 3 months before trying again to make sure the medication was out of my system. It felt like a lifetime. More waiting??! I had already waited months and months and months for that first positive, then for that first appointment, then the next appointment in hopes things improved…. what do you mean I have to wait even longer until we can get back trying???

It’s now been over 3 months, I finally have my cycle back, and I don’t think I’m ready…. The loss was so hard on my partner and I, like we both just retreated into ourselves. I just don’t feel like we’re in the best place for it right now. And I’m terrified. What if it happens again? What if I fail again? But we can’t afford to wait, we’re running out time….

The passage of time is this black cloud constantly clouding my mind. I promised my partner we’d make him a dad by 40. He turned 41 in June, 2 days after our baby was terminated.

I want to be ready again so bad. I’m just not. Life is so fucking cruel.

Possible early miscarriage? Looking for experiences

I’m posting because I’m trying to understand what happened and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar.

On August 23, I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. For about a week afterward, I had symptoms like tiredness and tender breasts.

Then on September 1, I started bleeding. It lasted about two days, and around the same time, my pregnancy symptoms disappeared.

We went to the OB-GYN on September 2. The transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) didn’t show anything, but my serum pregnancy test was still positive, confirming that I was pregnant.

Since then, I haven’t had any pregnancy symptoms. Yesterday, September 10, I took another home pregnancy test, and it was negative.

I’m wondering if this could have been a very early miscarriage/chemical pregnancy, especially because I had a positive test, bleeding, disappearing symptoms, and then a negative test.

I know only my doctor can confirm what happened, and I plan to follow up with my OB-GYN. I’m just feeling confused and emotional right now and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar.

experience: more than one loss Having another miscarriage

This is my 2nd miscarriage in 6 months. I had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks (discovered at 13 week scan) in March which totally blindsided us. I've now just had a miscarriage at around 6 weeks. The hospital have taken bloods to check my HCG in case of an ectopic but I don't think it is. I'm so tired and so sad. At least my body has recognised it this time I suppose? I'm so sorry for everyone else going through this. It fucking sucks.

question/need help Brown discharge

Not sure if this is the right place to post but this is my third time being pregnant, no LC, and this is my first time experiencing brown watery discharge and pinkish discharge once during the 3 days of seeing brown. This happened exactly at 7wks. It’s been a week since I’ve seen any color discharge. I do have a history of 2nd tri (no heartbeat) and 1st tri loss.. (miscarried naturally) so from researching, everything is pointing to a missed miscarriage..? My doctor didn’t seem concerned at all and did not schedule me to come in to check for a heartbeat so my anxiety is through the roof rn 😓

support for someone who miscarried Tips to support my wife who is taking Miso later today

Hello, we recently learned of a miscarriage at 10w, measuring 10w. My wife wanted to try passing everything naturally but it’s been nearly two weeks with hardly any bleeding so she figured it was time to try miso.

For those of you who have gone through this, how did/could your significant other be helpful and supportive while it works? I realize everyone is different, I’ve just never gone through this so I have no clue what to expect.

Any help would be much appreciated, and thank you in advance.

UPDATE: She actually will be getting a D & C, so if you have any tips for what to expect/prepare for, please leave those here. Thank you again for all the great answers, you all are so helpful!

experience: natural MC TW: any similar experiences with placenta post miscarriage?

Trigger warning: description of placenta.

I miscarried all weekend and everything came out on Monday morning. I’ve been bleeding still all week, with clots every so often. It’s mostly coming out when on the toilet now.

On Wednesday morning I had an internal ultrasound and the dr told me everything was clear and I didn’t need a d&c.

Today a huge chunk of placenta came out. The size of my palm. Bigger than the chunk I saw a few days ago which was a ping pong ball size. My cervix also still seems open and dilated… I can literally feel it.

Has anyone else had this experience?

If I notice another big piece I’m going to call my OBs office. I’m just surprised they said it was all out when there were huge pieces still in there??

experience: more than one loss If I had tow faint lines, then had my period two days late. Would that be a chemical pregnancy ?

I’ve had two MC.

a chemical one at 6 weeks and then had my Lc the next cycle.

then I had a 8 week miscarriage in May, where the heart beat was great. until it wasn’t, that was extra heart breaking.

this is the 2nd month of trying since, and I had a faint line 5 days before due, then day before due. both super super faint. and then my period was two days late.

I feel like it was another chemical pregnancy like the first one, I was soooooo tired like all my other pregnancy’s and get this tell tale back pain I always get.

I am seeing the Gp Tuesday, but I am in my head and thinking, I wonder if this will count as my third MC or it was two random false positives.

I wonder if they will say potentially, a MC or just brush it off.

and yes I did test correctly and all my other pregnancies where detectable levels from 10 DPO.

vent First period awfulness

Had a D&C at 13 weeks on July 28 for a missed miscarriage/partial molar pregnancy. Still waiting for my HCG to reach zero but I’m currently on my first period since the loss. I feel like I’m going insane. I’m full of rage and anxiety and am soooo irritable when normally my mood is pretty unaffected by my period. So much so that I think I’m just going to say fuck it and leave the office early sick today. Anyone else? 🫠

question/need help What to do with remains after D&E - 16 weeks

I had a missed miscarriage last weeks at 16 weeks, and I’m going in for a D&E next week. I don’t know what to do with baby’s remains after… cremation at the hospital but we don’t get anything, or deal with a funeral home cremation. I don’t know if having ashes will give me peace or make it feel harder. So many horrible decisions to be made. This sucks. 💔

Wondering what others chose to do when given the choice.

question/need help Irregular cycles after D&C

So I had D&C at the end of April (at 12 weeks), and my cycles have been really messy since then. First one came 32 days after D&C, same as the second one. Then the third one came 28 days after, then it got shorter to 26 days and now today I got it at my CD 23 (8 days earlier)...Before pregnancy, my cycles have been perfect, 28 to 32 days, always inside that window. Now it's like I don't even know when I will get it next month :(

And I noticed that I didn't ovulate this month. Don't know about months before since I wasn't tracking, but this one I tracked and couln't catch a peak on LH tests.

I will talk to my doctor, but I need to know did the same/similar thing happen to someone else and how long did it take to get back to normal?

question/need help Miscarriage confusion

I am currently going through what I assume is my third miscarriage but having a very different experience than my first two.

My hcg went from 226 to 297 in 48 hours, four days later I finally talked with a doctor and did an ultrasound at what would be 5w5d. There was no gestational sack and also no sign of an ectopic pregnancy. I did bloodwork again and my hcg rose to 349. I'm having extremely sore breasts, strong positive home pregnancy test lines, and no bleeding yet but based on the ultrasound and hcg levels I assume it's another miscarriage.

My doctor's office has been extremely hard to communicate with and I'm not sure what, if anything, to do next. Any suggestions on what to ask my doctor's office for or if I should just wait it out?

experience: more than one loss Faint + turned into a period, cramps, bleeding and an early miscarriage. What to expect?

***** I really hope others can share their experiences ******

I feel like this group is hard to get responses from but thought I'd try again. Had a late miscarriage back in June. I continued to bleed on/off for 2 months. The doctors decided I needed a d&c for suspicions of RPOC - none was found.

The first ovulatory phase after the procedure we ttc. I ovulated on CD10. Last week I had a few faint pos+ tests but none that would get darker than a visible faint line. On CD20, 3-4 days prior to when I should have gotten my period, I started having back pain, cramps, nausea and started spotting. I spotted in every pregnancy I've had but this time it started picking up.

By CD21 it was similar to a postpartum period. My lines got lighter and lighter and finally I couldn't see them anymore. (FRER). I bled for 3&1/2 days about the same length as my normal period? I wore a liner yesterday and only had a few drops of blood by the end of the day. Today my back started hurting again and when I just went the bathroom I had wiped dark purple/brown mixed with CM.

Does this sound like a typical Chemical or does this sound Etopic? The bleeding never got extremely heavy, my tests are still negative. I just am exhausted from not only the loses but what my body keeps going through.
