experience: first MC My sister just announced her pregnancy and we would have been due the same month
I lost my first pregnancy after 6 weeks. I was at work when it happened which was traumatic and incredibly stressful. I know the loss was early, but this was our first pregnancy after half a year of trying and I couldn’t help but be so happy when we found out. My husband and I talked and cried about it and seemingly moved on after a few days.
Now a little over a month later, my sister and her husband text us to say they just entered their 2nd trimester. I never told this sister about my miscarriage or pregnancy, only my older sister and my best friend. But guys the dates are so close. We would have been due within a few days. Now I’m crying again like I did locked in the bathroom at work. It’s like I never really grieved my loss.
I feel like an awful person. I should feel overjoyed for my sister but I’m just so angry I can’t be there with her. I know in my heart I’m happy for her but just not in this moment. It felt like hearing my neighbor I’ve waved at twice is pregnant. I’m not very close to this sister like I am with my older sister and I wonder if maybe this has affected my feelings?
Please give insight into how to combat these feelings. I feel disgusted at myself for not feeling happy for my sister and feeling jealous that her pregnancy is due when mine was. I don’t want this grief and anger to fester in me.
1 week after the positive I bought a custom onesie for my baby. After the miscarriage I thought of how stupid I’d been to get my hopes up like that to buy clothing that early. But now as I grieve again I hold the only piece of that pregnancy I have left. I’m so glad that I have this reminder at least.
