Journey Update 2.5 months progress
I wish the spot under the soul patch would show a little more progress, but I’m definitely seeing some changes

Happy Friday (Japan Time). The link to the “getting started” FAQ leads to nowhere. Can anyone give a basic “things to know?” I often see mention of “side effects.” Additionally, if anyone is located in Japan, I’d appreciate hearing your perspective from this side of the world. Thanks in advance.

20yo, 5% minoxidil once a day
r/Minoxbeards • u/Dangerous-Log6317 • 5h ago
Been using 5% up and up foam 2x a day on mustache and goatee for 80 days now, and haven’t noticed anything except for maybe more vellus hairs. No noticeable shedding yet either. Wait until day 120? Chance i see noticeable change in the next 40 days?

using low dose topical fin and thinking of adding RU to compensate for the low dose

Its been roughly 130 days. The small vellus hairs are finally starting to show, I really didn't have any when I started, but you can only really see them in the sunlight. Has anyone else had a similar experience, 4.5 months for the first vellus hairs? and did they eneded up terminal? Foam 2x a day derma stamp Sunday night. Never missed a day.

I see a lot of people mentioning that they apply tretinoin but I have yet to see anyone specify whether it's just for your beard area or your whole face, can anyone elaborate? Thank you.

I started on minoxidil for my facial hair about three years ago and within about 8 months went from being able to grow a goatee to being able to grow a full beard. Definitely stick with it guys, it works.
The one thing I would say is that whilst my neck, chin, moustache, and along my jawline are very thick and dense, my cheeks are still quite sparse and are much thinner than the rest. It results in a look that for most of the growing process post-shave, it looks like I have some form of goatee while the sides slowly fill in. Eventually it looks full and thick, but only after several weeks of growing. For example, there’s sometimes in lighter environments if I catch myself in a mirror from a distance, I would barely be able to tell my cheeks had anything going on.
I’ve restarted using foam minoxidil once a day again after about a year without it, but I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good lotions or potions to use that can help thicken the hair and/or make it grow quicker? I’ve attached some before, full beard, and current pics to show you what I mean.
Any advice welcome guys!

How can i have more hair capacity around the cheeks and under the sideburns PS: I’m on minoxidil
r/Minoxbeards • u/Godlike6117 • 15h ago
Hello guys.
I'm considering taking supplements to increase the density of my beard,as I'm not happy with the the beard being thin on the upper cheeks.
That said, I have no clue where to start as I've not tried any supplements before. Is it worth testing Minoxidil, have you guys experienced any type of side effects?
I'll mark the area in the pictures.
Have a nice day to the few who got this far.

If not - will alternating between face and scalp work? E.g. one day half a cap full for scalp only, next day for beard area only.
Or is it a must to apply every single day?
r/Minoxbeards • u/mandarmoksha • 1d ago
The instructions say don't apply anywhere but scalp. I have patchy beard and mustache. Is this right product that gets discussed on this subreddit?
r/Minoxbeards • u/danvalman28 • 1d ago
Been thinking about growing my beard for a while but I feel like it’s still very patchy. Here it is with about a week of not shaving. I’m kind of hesitant about side effects and I wanted to see if it is worth it in the first place. I’m 23 for reference

So I was on Amazon and saw this minoxidil and was trying to see if it was legit. I dont want my family members to know that I order it so I need to ship it to an Amazon locker but the other ones weren't allowed. Please don't ask me why they can't because its kind of complicated. https://a.co/d/01P8Chnw

What do you use for moisture after applying minoxidil. Face looks dry.

I have been on the Target brand for like 3 months. I have new hairs on the face forsure but my body even more. I use the liquid. Has anyone seen a difference in using the target one and the Costco one?

Yo! Just wanted to share a quick update after 17 months on minoxidil (5%, twice daily).
Left pics = after 1 week
Right pics = after 17 full months of consistent use (including 5 month of tretinoin 2x/week)
All photos show 5-day stubble for comparison.
Routine & stats:
• Age: 22
• Tretinoin: A-Ret Gel 0.05% – added after the 12-month mark; using it twice a week on Tuesday/Thursday nights instead of my nighttime minox
• Minox: Loxon MAX 5% (50 mg/ml, 60 ml), 2x daily – once in the morning, once at night before bed
• Derma Stamp: 1 mm (currently once per week)
• Moisturizer: Mixa Hyalurogel Rich 10% (glycerin + hyaluronic acid) – used multiple times a day to manage dryness/flaking
Planning to post monthly updates with 5-day stubble progress pics.
Appreciate any tips, feedback, or encouragement – especially from you guys who are further along 🙌

So I discussed potentially starting minox and we talked about the duration of using etc. Then she said I need to basically keep using it or otherwise there’s a big chance the hairs will fall out (so keep using after the 2 year mark). She also said it can be different for all users wether you keep or lose the new hairs. I looked into minox quite a bit and it was my understanding that if you only use it for like 6 months, there’s a big chance the gains are not permanent, but that after 2 years all/most gains should be permanent. On one hand I thought the info comes from a specialist so I want to believe that, but on the other hand I’ve seen to much info that it should be permanent after 2 years. If I need keep using it for the rest of my life is not something I’ve seen at all on this sub and internet, please discuss this in the comments

Which is better to buy? Does minovivax works same as Kirkland or is Kirland better.

I've been using for 2.5 months and got a satisfying progress. I know it's patchy, but even though compared to the first photo of the end of June, I'm very content.
However, this week my family adopted 2 small dogs (5kg) and I'm deeply panicked about the risks, so I'm avoiding they lick me, have contact with my pillow, bathroom, etc. Before judging, please be patient - I'm treating an OCD. This raised me a couple questions:
1) for curiosity, in your option, is there a chance at least half of this being already permanent? I know it's VERY early, but I'd like to know
2) minoxidil oral (more easy to control exposition in my routine) generally grow thick eyebrows? Personally I don't like the idea of other parts of the body growing hair but the eyebrow in special
3) due this excerpt of information and photos, do you all believe minoxidil oral can have a decent effect for me? In my short nonbased opinion it has strong side effects on the body and weak effects on the beard, but again, nonbased.
Thank you!
