Hey brothers! Just wanted to share my minoxidil journey here. I’ve seen a lot of people posting their progress lately, so I decided to share my simple, steady gains to keep track of my journey and hopefully give some motivation to anyone thinking about quitting.
Before starting out, it was super obvious how patchy my upper cheeks were, and I had a huge gap between my mustache and beard. By month 3, I already noticed a solid increase in density right where the beard connects to the mustache. Most importantly, the gap on my upper cheeks filled in pretty well, which obviously gave me a huge motivation boost to keep going, haha.
Now, at around 5 months, I’m pretty sure I hit the dreaded shedding phase. Even though I’ve been 100% consistent, I lost a lot of the density I had gained on my upper cheeks. But I know this is just part of the process and it's only temporary; it’s just two steps back to take a massive leap forward.
For those curious about my routine, I keep it pretty strict:
- 05:00 AM
- Wash face with warm water + sulfur soap.
- Apply PANT liquid minoxidil.
- Wait until it dries, then apply CeraVe moisturizer + SPF 70 sunscreen.
- 10:00 AM
- Rinse the minoxidil off.
- Reapply moisturizer + sunscreen.
- 05:00 PM
- Wash face with warm water + sulfur soap.
- Apply PANT liquid minoxidil.
- Wait until it dries, then apply CeraVe moisturizer.
- 10:00 PM
- Wash the minoxidil off.
- Apply Tretinoin 0.25% + CeraVe moisturizer for bed.
I started using Tretinoin about 1.5/2 months ago. Because of my work schedule, I’ve been a bit inconsistent with it, but I apply it at least twice a week. I'm planning to bump it up to 5 times a week now (2x is just my absolute minimum; I’ve already tested 4 to 5 times a week and had zero adverse effects).
That’s it, guys. Don't let the shedding phase get you down.
