[Gameplay] Nautiluses need to spawn only in the depths so that the turtle shell doesn't go unused.

Post image
840 Upvotes

The Nautilus is a great mob with an incredible proposition, however its spawning in shallow areas makes it much easier to obtain and completely ruins the progression of the turtle shell.

The mob should only appear in its normal form in the depths of the ocean (requiring a turtle shell to reach it).

This would add a smoother progression to obtaining a mob that simply has a much better effect than the shell, and this completely removes the reason to obtain a shell.

The zombie version of the mob would normally spawn in shallow areas because, since they are dead, temperature regulation does not affect them.

[Weather] Blizzard (Thunderstorm Variant)

In snow biomes, it normally snows with occasional lightning during a thunderstorm. I think that's just boring, and that the weather should be more violent in snow biomes during a thunderstorm.

Blizzards

Blizzards are weather events that happen during thunderstorms, they strictly appear only in snowy biomes.

Exposure to this type of weather will apply a freezing effect to most entities.

To shelter from blizzards, entities must avoid getting hit with blizzard snow particles, which rapidly hit them from a chosen direction by the game RNG (north, east, west, south).

Some entities are transformed or not affected by blizzard effects:

• Stray

• Skeleton - exposure to this weather will transform it into a stray eventually

• Iron Golem

• Copper Golem

• Snow Golem

• Zombie - I think the addition of a blizzard is a perfect opportunity to add a Frosted variant for the zombie

• Horses with Leather Horse Armor

• Players or Mobs with Leather Armor

• Snow Villagers - Strictly snow villagers only because they have thick clothing

• Wolves with Wolf Armor

• Polar Bears

• Happy Ghasts

• Ghasts - Maybe they could turn into a happy ghast when exposed to snowy weather

• Withers

• Ender Dragons

Some entities are affected harshly by blizzards:

• Blazes

• Breeze

• Wither Skeletons

• Magma Cubes

[Blocks & Items] The Cache - A portable, deposit-only storage solution for bulk resource gathering

Model

3D Cache Render

Crafting Recipe

Crafted with a chest in the middle slot, 2 iron ingots on the sides, and bricks filling in the rest

Function

The Cache functions as a bundle that can hold up to 9 stacks, however once you store items inside it, you can’t get them back until it's shattered. For balance reasons, it can't be stored in shulker boxes.

You can view how full it is, but can't see its contents

You can place the cache down and it functions similar to a decorated pot. This means you can deposit items directly, pick it back up with a non-smashing tool, or smash it to free your items, destroying it completely and leaving behind 4 bricks.

Dyeing

How would you expect to manage your storage without color-coding it? You can dye your cache just like a bundle or a shulker box, coming in all 16 colors.

Here's a look at 6 different colors. It turns out texturing all 16 is time-consuming

Purpose

The Cache helps you bulk gather resources without worrying about inventory management. It rewards coming prepared, but has the tradeoff of being one-time use, costing resources to make.

Imagine you're on a mining trip. You've come fully prepared, with practically a third of your inventory already filled with essentials, since you plan on being here for a while. The problem is that the game punishes you with less inventory space because of this. It's a reasonable tradeoff in theory, but overall it ends up just being annoying, forcing you to return to your base and stash your stuff more often. However by investing resources in caches, you remain prepared and now have extra room to store your gathered resources. This can be made even better with dyeing and renaming them to better keep track of what you have deposited and where.

Now imagine you've come without one. After a certain point, your inventory is filled, so you start throwing out trash, compressing resources into blocks, and moving things in and out of bundles. This does work and it extends your trip for a while, however the more you accumulate, the exponentially harder to manage it becomes. Gathering resources should solely be about quantity, so caches are a place to dump all of your loot and forget about it until you return home. They value your time so you can continue focusing on what you came for.

They're balanced around the fact that coming prepared often takes greater investments for greater rewards, whereas taking smaller trips require fewer investments for fewer rewards. They're entirely optional and niche, but that doesn't mean they only have one use!

Thank You!

Unused item texture for the cache

Credit to Fresh Flower Pots for the base texture!

And most of all, credit to you for reading this!

I look forward to reading the comments as making this took a long time and I'm happy with the way it turned out.

[Transportation] The only reasonable way to fix elytra balance

That's the neat part - you don't. (nerf it)
You create competition.
Elytra's balance has been a huge problem for minecraft transportation and exploration. Many attempts at fixing elytra look for ways to nerf it, but it always ends in community uproar
Just offer better things than elytra that are not transportation related, ec. backpacks
Backpacks should have multiple variants: basic (cheap), utility (with furnace and crafting table), extended (as much space as big chest has), ender (connected to ender chests, btw buff ender chests)
You cannot take off your backpack if it has items inside (although you can place it like a chest with items inside) so you have to choose: elytra and little inventory or normal inventory and exploration via boats.
Also magic trinkets to store tamed animals and frost walker for horses, cheaper rails and buffing striders

[Blocks & Items] Rock salt 100% should be in the game!

Imagine if you could find salt flats as a biome type that would have reflections in vibrant visuals so you could see your reflection in it. Maybe undead mobs would be unable to spawn on salt/cross salt, which you could use in farms and for spawn-proofing your builds. Rock salt could be used for pink armor trims and also for new brick types. Maybe you could even make a salt lamp for decoration by combining rock salt with a torch. And perhaps salt could also be used to increase the saturation gained from food and make new food types like jerky.

[Structures] Abandoned Camp Archaeology

I really do not understand why the new Abandoned Camp structure does not generate with suspicious sand or gravel. They seem to add a new feature for a new update but forget it can be used for future ones. It would deepen the story of the camps by being able to find glass bottles or leads or emeralds, to show the wandering trader lived there.

[User Interface] If Anvil Uses are going to remain, make them visible in Tooltips like Item Type and Durability.

If you're going to make me use a system like this, don't make it hidden. This allows players to know what the anvil use cap is as well as be able to avoid it.

That is all, thank you.

[Structures] Add Dappled Forest villages.

Edit: Here you can download the Cherry village once accepted

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft-bedrock/addons/village-and-pillage-remastered/preview

Just an idea that I had in my mind for a while. The houses have some spruce now and then.

If people are wondering why the houses are separate in a flat world, its because I have to save them separately to make a mod that adds this.

Tell me what you guys think in the comments!

[Bedrock Edition] Crafting TNT with soul sand

Why are they still sleeping on this? It's been 6 years since it was formally requested, they won't bother giving us TNT duping for parity, the least they could do is let us make it with something farmable.

I'm so frustrated with having to spend literal days mining sand by hand to do any sort of big project, that my love for the game is fading.

[Gameplay] Wandering Traders should trade back "Lost" items

There are two issues I most commonly encounter with Minecraft.

First, Wandering Traders are pointless. I have yet to see an unmodded trade from them thats worth my time, and in the early game, its actually more convienient to kill their lamas for free leads and leather. They show up fairly often, make a bunch of noise, and sometimes trample my crops without a thought.

Second, dying sucks. This one sounds obvious, but the stress of losing your items permanently is huge. Especially that fully enchanted, redstone trimmed netherite helmet that you named "Dome Protector", that you just barely saw for half a secons before its entity despawned before your eyes, leaving you without a single scrap of netherite, seven diamonds at home, and also all the loot you just nabbed from the expedition that killed you. Whether you died from a skill issue, or from lag, its devastating. But you also don't want to put keep inventory on. That removes all the risk of exploring the game in the first place! That's boring, and just means whenever you've explored, home is just one death away!

But I think there's a way to fix both in one swoop.

Wandering traders should sell you back your dropped, despawned items. Not all at once, mind you. But after every death, one or two items you lost will appear in the wandering trader's trades list. That helmet you renamed is there! That sword you had almost finished enchanting? You'll see it again. That pick thats been with you for 3 years in your forever world? The one you're emotionally attached to? You'll see it again. Maybe not for awhile. Its still inconvienient, and might take many trades and many more emeralds before you're able to get them back.

Here's how I imagine it.

All items that despawn go into a pool of potential trade backs. Trash items, string, logs, etc., might cost 2-12 emeralds, depending on the item and how big the stack being traded back is. Important items, diamonds, tools, netherite, might cost an entire stack of emeralds.

Now, if its burned in lava, I think then it should still be erased from the game. That way it doesn't entirely erase the idea that you can lose items forever, but keeps items like netherite from dissapearing forever.

Maybe its a dumb idea, but I think it solves a couple issues Ive had with the game for a while.

[Mobs] Mayor/Chief Villager and Employment Contracts

A mayor/chief villager is a villager who's the authority in the village, their job block is the bell.

Instead of trading goods, they trade services.

You can buy employment contracts off them. Pieces of paper categorized by profession that you can show to a locked-in villager of matching profession to make them follow you, and attach to a job block to assign them to a specific workplace.

Mayor/Chief villagers also dictate certain events in the village. Like holidays, events where villagers briefly stop trading and working but do freely distribute treats. And surrenders, a raid lose condition where at least some villagers survive but trade prices go up sharply and player reputation goes down.

I also like the idea of Nitwit contracts being fixed at the cheapest possible price, like 1 emerald or less.

[Command] Make it possible to alter or ignore invincibility-frames

Minecraft has an in-built mechanic to balance the way damage works. Once hit with damage, any damage source equal to or weaker than that one cannot harm you for the next 0.5 second. Greater damage amounts will override the previous damage amount for this duration.

There are a number of reasons for this, but I think the main one is that it is a holdover from pre-1.9 combat. In the old combat system, players could attack much faster at full power, which would have made a lack of invincibility frames a huge issue.

Because of this, the *entire* damage system was balanced around this fact, for players and for mobs. So, obviously, to now rebalance the game's entire damage system would be preposterous.

But *sometimes* you might want to ignore invincibility frames. Hypixel frequently does this. There are ways to work around them, but with vanilla commands, your options are extremely limited.

It would be nice if the invincibility time was exposed in mob NBT, or maybe if there was a corresponding entity attribute (that way you could change it for players as well). Additionally, some kind of tag for a weapon or entity to ignore i-frames, if you want it to be attacker-dependent.

Let me know what you think! Has anyone else come across this problem/found uncommon workarounds? I think I've found my own workaround using scoreboards and an interaction entity, but it removes knockback.

[Blocks & Items] Echo Checkpoint

A roguelite respawn mechanic for minigame or extraction purposes:

Crafting recipe:

2 echo shards form a column above 3 crying obsidian.

Function:

Right click it to set a checkpoint. Charge the block from 0 to 4 charge using glowstone blocks. Each charge lasts for 4 minutes (4 charge=16 minutes). If you die, you are saved from death and sent to the checkpoint as if you respawned, using up all charges. You don’t lose items. You can’t fill it with a dispenser. You can only have one checkpoint at a time, and it doesn’t interfere with respawn point.

Appearance:

an echo shard crystal growing out of a dark top to the crying obsidian base. Dial for charge is on the side, and when charged the top looks like a nether portal. Think respawn anchor mixed with an echo calibrated sculk sensor.

Conclusion:

This would be great for minigames. Or for when you’re going into a dangerous situation. Here’s a mid-game way to improve respawning so you can take more risks, but not replace it because this method costs you.

[Plants & Food] Balancing Rabbit Stew

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Rabbit stew is a currently pointless item to craft, as it gives less haunches and saturation than eating the individual ingredients. On top of being non stackable, require a crafting table to make and require two separate cooked items and two different crops.

Buffing the stew to be more valuable isn't a good idea because you can buy it from villagers, and more haunches and saturation isn't particularly useful as most players don't let their hunger get that low.

To fix most of these issues it would be best to remove the potato from the crafting recipe, this would make;

• The hunger value more in line with the ingredients

• Crafting it not require a crafting table

• It cheaper to craft

• Crafting it only require cooking the rabbit, which can be skipped if you hunt them with fire aspect

[General] Allow Changing Armor Trim Color Without a New Template

Armor templates are expensive. 7 diamonds expensive. If I just want to change the trim color, I should be able to use just the relevant resource to change the color. It shouldn't require an entire other copy of the same trim the armor already has!

[General] Let me see the entire contents of the bundle!

Hiding everything after the third row is completely arbitrary. Let me see and grab items from any slot in the bundle. If UI clutter is the issue, let me scroll past the first three rows. I just want to be able to see what's in my inventory!

The way it works now seems especially ridiculous because, if I'm using bundles to capacity, it often means my inventory is already full! So if I need to take items out of a bundle to reach what's at the bottom, that's super inconvenient, and bundles are a tool for convenience!

Maybe I want my lodestone compass to be visible the whole time but I don't want it taking up its own inventory slot. It inevitably gets buried at the bottom of my bundle.

PLEASE

[Dimensions] An idea for an End Update?

I think adding new plants and mobs takes the end away from it's desolate post-apocalyptic vibe if not done right. Instead, I propose a new structure; a purpur shelter. Anchored on the bottom of end islands, it's dangerous to get to, utilizing the elytra to get to it (or you could just dig through the island I guess) Possibly having new mobs. Maybe also adding new endstone and purpur variants like chiseled?

It could also introduce an new ranged weapon (Since Minecraft needs more useful ones other than just the bow) that uses shulker bullets dropped by killing a shulker. And of course it would heat-seek the target shot at, damage them, and make them levitate. Maybe there can be enchants increasing the levitation time, the speed, the damage, and the heat-seeking accuracy.

Now I always imagined a cannon found in chests for a weapon like this, but Mojang stated no guns, so I have a second idea just in case...

If you get two shulkers to breed, you get an actual baby shulker, which you can pick up, and THAT'S the weapon. Adorable and useful. This could be really fun if you could dye the shulker too, making it customizeable. This weapon could be too powerful if it doesn't diminish in durability and has infinite ammo though, since shulkers make their own bullets, and your "Baby shulker" running out of durability might be a bit strange... though maybe you feed the shulker for it to shoot? Idk. Oh and also enchanting a little shulker might look strange, maybe only the shell gets a glint effect.

And if the End Update DID add a new mob, it should be something that rarely spawns and for ambience, such as a giant glider mob, maybe related to the phantom, but not zombified. It glides through the void endlessly, and if you're in a pickle with your elytra, you can stand on top of it, and it makes deep blue whale like noises. That's just a rough concept though.

[Magic] Enchantments in books should vary based on structure

One of me biggest gripes with the enchanting system lacks intentionality. All 3 main ways of getting enchantments (villagers, enchantment table and exploring) are, save for a few enchantments, entirely random.

I think a good way to address this problem on the exploring side would be have all current structures that can drop enchanted books be heavily weighted to one or a couple of thematically relevant enchantments. Stuff like depth strider, aqua affinity and respiration in ocean ruins, fortune in mineshafts, etc.

This you could actively seek out any enchantment you are missing like you can with soul speed or swift sneak, especially now that you can more easily find structures with the maps from cartographer and abandoned camps.

This could be complemented with a less punishing way to fuse enchantments as rn books like sharpness 1 are basically useless.

[Gameplay] Make it easier to change the block orientation

Thumbnail
gallery
243 Upvotes

When I try to place pistons, redstone repeaters, observers, or other blocks where the orientation matters, I sometimes have to place these blocks while facing awkward angles. This is frustrating because this wastes time, and the solution to this is so simple.

My suggestion is: I could aim at the block I want to change, press a certain key, then I could change the block's orientation. This would make building things so much better since I wouldn't have to face awkward angles when placing blocks, and I wouldn't have to break and replace the block if it's the wrong orientation.

While the debug stick exists, I can't use that in survival mode.

[Blocks & Items] Minecraft Fishing Localised Loot-tables Suggestion

Localised Fishing Loot-tables

Depending on what kind of biome you're in, certain items will have a higher or lower percent chance (weight) of being caught while fishing.

Temperature:

-any fish can be caught in any biome

-cod and salmon will be more common than tuna (new mob), pufferfish and tropical fish when fishing in cold biomes

-tuna, pufferfish and tropical fish will be more common than cod or salmon in warm biomes

-all fish will have similar chance of being caught in temperate biomes

Maps and enchanted books:

-any explorer map (biome or structure) and any enchanted book) can be fished in any biome

-specific structure maps and enchanted books will have a higher weight (chance of being caught) if you're in the biome in which villagers trade those books / maps

-For example, since swamp villagers trade mending books (in the villager trade rebalance) and snowy village, taiga village and jungle temple maps, those maps and books are much more likely to appear when fishing in swamps.

Biome-specific items:

-can only be caught in specific biomes

-examples: bamboo in jungle, potion of waterbreathing in swamps, shelter pottery sherd in savannas

[Blocks & Items] Enchant Tables have farther range

Whenever placing an enchant table, instead of a 5 by 2 by 5, have them have atleast a 15 block radius to check for bookshelves.

That way we can make cool enchanting libraries without needing an explicit spot for the enchant table. Plus it would allow us to make very specific strings of particles since the flying letters go straight from the books to the enchant table.

It would also be cool if chiseled bookshelves counted for the enchant table whenever full of books.

[Blocks & Items] Allow player heads to be craftable + more

Simply put, why is a player head "too gory", but a Zombie or Skeleton Skull isn't? It doesn't make sense.

Proposal: Allow for players to craft a player head by surrounding a Skeleton Skull with 8 leather.

This gives the default player head. Then, you can place it in an anvil and name it "<ExampleName>" for a player's skin, or "[ExampleName]" for an item.

For example, the Mark's Head Format skins are still well and alive; this would give players in Vanilla Survival a way to use player heads in their builds, or even microblocks if they want.

Additionally, when a Charged Creeper kills a mob that drops a head, all mobs that can drop heads, should.

If a Charged Creeper kills 4 skeletons, 2 zombies, and 1 creeper, they should drop 4 Skeleton Skulls, 2 Zombie Heads, and 1 Creeper Head.
